After visiting a few restaurants that are at the same level as Le Cirque, the expectations were high.
We started with the aperitif, which was served in the wine cellar. The wine cellar is very modern and loungy with the high tables and chairs and tempered lights. The amuse gueules were as they should be: nice and inspiring for what's coming next.
The restaurant itself has been designed like a cosy living environment (not trendy at all): a bigger room that holds the majority of the tables and at the front of the building a smaller room with a limited number of tables.
It was full house, which had an impact on the waiting times.
We had the full menu. Everything was fine. There are however a few points that make me subtract two stars of the rating. This is a personal opinion, so other people may think otherwise. I'll keep it short. The chef loves to work with espuma. So a lot of small 'drops' of vegetables, secondly the chocolate dessert (served in a glass bottle cut in half) is way to big to properly close off the menu. The cheese dessert however is excellent. And lastly, the lady maitre is more acting as a waitress.
A good experience, with some points that led to a lower score. read more
