Out of town so don't expect to be able to stroll out of the hotel & find yourself in a buzzing area of Chinon. Rooms are small, clean & not all had baths (en suite shower room instead). Hotel has pool. Breakfast was plentiful & quite good. Supper was a little disappointing but we were late (so maybe missed out on some of the buffet ingredients) & hungry (so were prepared to eat almost anything).
For a family of 4 the hotel was not ideal we were in 2 double rooms, about 4 rooms away from each other. Neither of the rooms was big enough for all of us to be in simultaneously & comfortably, so playing cards, or even having a chat was not possible! In addition, there was no communal space downstairs in the lobby where we could all sit together.
There was only 1 key per room which also served as the light switch. This was annoying since it meant a complicated set of arrangements every time we wanted to do anything! Staff explained that it was the hotel policy only to issue one key. Ocassionally the cleaning staff would let us into our rooms if our timing was bad & one of us arrived back before the key holder! Possibly a security issue here since they were happy to oblige!
There seemed to be minimal staffing. At meal times, the receptionist morphed into a waitress, so there was no point in trying to see the receptionist about anything then.
Bright & garish decor.
