There are four floors of room with about 10 rooms per floor. Each room is decorated differently so it does not have the typical cookie cutter hotel feel. The Owners and staff are very friendly and happy to help out with tour and restaurant recommendations. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. In the morning the dining area is open with tea, coffee, yogurt, fresh bread and croissants, and of course my favorite - pain au choclat! Yum. They also serve fresh squeezed OJ and some cheeses and meat slices. It's self serve and you can hang out as long as you want. I really like the location because you can walk in about 10 minutes to either the main shopping area or the Old Town area which is full of great little restaurants and pubs. It also has easy access to the highways and the train station. Very recommended, but be advised they are doing a major expansion. The construction is only during the day and actually not inside but adjacent to the hotel, but it can be distracting if you are trying to snooze during the day.

Put valuables in hotel safe because safe in room on the floor (*!!!) did not work, but when went to retrieve them, safe could not bar opened because no one had the code and this person would be back in the morning. This is NOT a 4 STAR hotel. Very uncomfortable. Night staff man very nice, m but could not open safe. =Breakfast restaurant staff nasty. /cannoitb recommend to anyone.

The rug was gritty, and there was a set of stains on the blanket that was indicative of a previous sexual encounter. 2) The hallways were always dark, even in the daytime. You had to press a light switch to see where you were going, and the light timed out after a couple minutes. If you were caught by the sudden darkness, you had to fumble your way to the light switch, which wasn't lit. 3) The shower setup was such that you were continually pushing against the metal hose while standing under the shower head. 4) The room was so tiny, that two people had to squeeze past each other when moving around. 5) The person cleaning up the breakfast tables took the unused packets of butter from one table, and returned the butter to the general bin. All that put together makes for a not-so-warm-and-fuzzy feeling, which is not what you want when staying in a strange place for the night.

We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the front desk. He gave us the keys to our room and informed us of the parking policy and breakfast at the hotel. As a family of three, we can hardly ever find a hotel that sleeps exactly three people, well look no further! Our room at The Hotel Mondial had a double bed and a single bed- perfect for our family. The beds were comfortable and the room was a decent size. The one thing to be aware of is that there did not appear to be an elevator in this hotel. There is a sign as you enter that says leave your bags in the lobby and we will bring them up (if you are unable to carry them yourself). We really loved the location of this hotel as well. Close to the shopping and night life, definitely a gem in the city of Tours.
