HORRIBLE - avoid AVON at all cost. There is absolutely zero tenure with the staff, so don't bother…read moregetting to know anyone's name. My kid literally felt abandoned because every time she got used to a teacher, that teacher would be gone the next week. The old Administrator, Christine was amazing, but once she left, it all went downhill. Reach out to her, she has some stories of complete mismanagement, if you don't believe this one. The notes they leave on your kids are not even accurate. I'd get a note that my daughter ate all her food, only to pick her up and have a "teacher" tell me that she didn't eat anything at all that day. My daughter would come home and say that kids were pushing here, and nothing would be done about it. She felt very uncomfortable there. When discussed with the staff (don't ask me names, because they change every 5 minutes), they swept it under the rug. Do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else. ZERO organization or structure. Such a mess of a 'school'

I attend Mass and Confession at St. Mary' periodically; here are the highlights:…read more ~ Typical Mass and Confession times (see bulletin for changes): -- Sunday Masses (Vigil: 4pm; Sun: 8am, 10am, 12pm) -- Daily Masses are different each day: Mon: 7:30pm, Tues-Wed: 8:30am, Thurs: 7:30pm, Fri-Sat: 8:30am -- Confession: Sat: 2:30-3:30pm, Mon: 7-7:25pm -- Adoration with Benediction: Thurs: 5-7pm ~ The Church: It's a beautifully architected Church. I love looking at all the Saints, Mary, and Jesus up near / beyond the Altar. It is a small church and old -- you'll often hear constant screeching of the kneelers and a crackling sound as people sit in the pews. But I love the traditional looking churches; it makes it just a more special place. If you look up just above the Altar an amazing image of Jesus is there -- I often look at that image for a brief moment as the priest lifts up the Body and Blood of Jesus to help me imagine Him there visually present. ~ Music: For the most part, the music and cantoring is delightful. I love the traditional organ music, which is typically played at the 8am, 10am, and 12pm Sunday Masses. The 4pm Vigil Mass isn't as great as they don't use the organ and have a different cantor. ~ Priests, Staff, Congregation, Parishioners: Fr. Tom (who is the current pastor) is great. I love how he starts his homilies with an anecdote related to the readings and/or Gospel -- it often engages you to listen. He also has the heart of Jesus in the Confessional, just as you would hope. The deacon, who also does homilies periodically is good, but I just don't like the animated ones or ones where he sings. Outside the priest and deacon, I've met a couple of the people who help out setup and/or during the Mass and they are great people. However, there are parishioners that talk before Mass that you can hear clearly, and that time is meant to be silent so we can prepare our hearts for Mass. (See paragraph 45: https://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/ccdds/documents/rc_con_ccdds_doc_20030317_ordinamento-messale_en.html) All in all, it's a great church, great community, and love coming here when I am able.

That being said, I cannot say enough about the curriculum and teachers that our children get to spend time with every day. I can vouch first-hand for any teacher, preschool through grade 8, and feel blessed every day by the team of teachers my children are lucky enough to have. The STEM program is top-notch, and I am constantly amazed by what my children are learning not just from books, but experiences each and every day. They are learning not just to memorize facts and processes, but to think through challenges, collaborate with others, and problem-solve, developing skills that will be critical for life. I am so impressed by the unity of the junior high teachers working as a team, setting the tone for expectations from the start of the year and making sure that students will be better than prepared for ANY high school they choose.

When my daughter's nanny became unavailable due to circumstances beyond either party's control, I needed to find daycare for my two-year-old. Cortney Hopkins facilitated the smoothest and cleanest transition to the daycare ever. Never before have I encountered a facility director who was as professional and pleasant as Cortney. She exhibits the warmth you expect from someone you are leaving your precious child in their care. Each morning I leave my baby with Cortney, knowing that she and her amazing staff at Childtime will take the finest possible care of my daughter. I highly recommend Childtime in Avon for anyone in need of childcare, and for those who are wondering, they accept childcare vouchers as well

Every single time I go in there to pick up my daughter, there are multiple babies red in the face, basically choking they are crying so hard with no acknowledgement from the staff. I understand that they can't tend to babies every time they cry right away, but there is NO EXCUSE to why they are being completely ignored and neglected for over 10 minutes while I am there. The staff don't even pretend they care when I am around, so I wonder what happens when none of the parents are around. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first couple times as I know it is a hard job to be caring for multiple babies, but I have more children in full time daycare and have NEVER experienced anything like this before. My child's first day there, she got scratched in the face "by a friend". How are you allowing the babies that can crawl and walk to be around my newborn long enough to claw her in the face? It is also extremely expensive and you can basically pay someone for 1:1 care for the amount that they charge per hour while they can have up to like 12 babies in there at once!
