The Torino Airport is kind of a dinky airport. It's a bit outdated, but has adequate shops and…read morerestaurants to not spend too much time in. Anyway, coming upstairs to the orange Aperol colored Piemonte lounge, there was a line out the door. The wait wasn't too bad and I suppose it's better to let people know it's full than try to squeeze in people instead. Most of the reviews were underwhelming. I am here at 7pm writing this review and it's getting cleared up now. I'm giving it 4 because the buffet was better than I thought. Maybe it's my first time in Italy and in general this country has good produce and ingredients. But for me, some items surpasses the typical crappy, salty airport food. Grilled eggplant with basil and olive oil, mozzarella, cakes and vegetable dishes were fresh, tasty and delicious. Bare in mind, after 20hrs of travel and still going, I'm just happy to see fresh veggies. My Aperol spritz, great! It's not a fancy lounge, but it hits the spot for my priority pass usage. TL;DR - unexpectedly decent drink and food selection. Don't bother coming up if you want just want to sit or work.

First time in Piedmonte lounge in Turin airport…read more The lounge is accessible for those travelling business class. When I first arrived, it was empty. Plenty of seating, a wide variety of European newspapers, food and a full bar service await. It definitely beats No.1 lounge in Gatwick which is crazy busy and full of kids. I get the impression that the Piedmonte lounge is only for those with Business class tickets or relevant level airline loyalty cards, not pay and enter like Gatwick. Sounds snobbish but if you want peace, quiet and not to have kids running around then this is the place to come before your flight. Clean, tidy and great service then if I'm back here (hopefully business class!) then I'd happily hang out here pre-flight.

I can't give this place one star because it deserves points for effort. But I also cannot give it…read morethe 4 stars it might deserve because the owner is mean and lame. In 2014, the only choice for an after ski party at the base of the slopes was La Follie Douce. In 2015, that changed with the arrival of the new dance floor at 360 Bar. They have gone for the same music style and massive tables for people to dance on like the Douce but the atmosphere is less cool. What is fun about the Follie Douce (or what was fun before the music there became mostly terrible) is that you can go in and buy expensive drinks if you want....or you can chill outside on the snow with your friends enjoying the sun and the music and your own snacks/drinks that you brought in your backpack. Maybe you will go get one drink from the bar...but when it is over 15 euros for a coke and a Desperados (ok the Desperados was for a FRIEND I promise)...the appeal is limited. The music is not THAT great... It is like with music or movies or whatever, if the price is too high, people find an alternative means to getting what they want. So this place blasts its music and makes everyone on the slope have to listen...but if you come close by to check it out because you enjoy the DJ and want to drink a beer of your own - without even entering in the bar or the dance floor - the owner will come and give you crap. In his words, "Pas ca chez moi" and in response to our pointing out that he doesn't own the snow "Ici - c'est chez moi". What a dode (a dode is a really lame dude - who is in effect a buzz kill for something fun - like a guy no one knows who is hitting on your girlfriend at a party - or drinking all the beer without having brought anything himself). So between the let down of the Follie Douce this year and this dode, I think I might have to find a new ski resort for next year.

During a recent ski trip our group ended up coming here twice so we got to see both sides of its 'character' for want of a better word. On the first visit it was literally pulsating with bass, booze, table dancing and excess. The (ahem) 'VIP section' was filled with the spoiled brats and rich elite we can imagine love these kind of places. When someone orders a huge bottle of champagne or spirit it is not simply brought to them by hand, but placed in a large perspex box and slowly pulled over the crowds below via a zip-line with pink smoke billowing from its top. Cue multiple smart phones videoing the spectacle. Not wanting to sound like a complete party pooper I have to admit that the atmosphere was infectious (I may have danced a wee bit to the Europop that was blaring from the speakers). I did, however, feel like a fish out of water here. The second visit was at lunchtime which was much quieter and overall more palatable (atmosphere wise and food wise). Though the meal options are on the expensive side (but what isn't in Les 3 Vallées?) there were plenty of decent things to choose from in their slick, spacious and modern restaurant inside. The place was busy with families, ski schools and groups alike, a world away from the rowdy table dancing the previous afternoon. Tip: the easiest way to get to LFD from Meribel town is via the Saulire gondola lift, exiting at its first stop and then skiing/walking down the slope a short distance. Tip: there's a gift shop for LFD merchandise should you wish to buy a memento (that is, if you have any money left after eating/drinking here).

Had lunch here one day. The inside of this restaurant (and I mean RESTAURANT, not that self-served part) is gorgeous. Monstrous cheese are covering the walls up to the ceiling, and tables are covered with white table cloth. We were starving and started begun our meal with an assortment of cheese. As expected, it was as mouthwatering and beautifully served as only happens in France. The main course, a chicken split in two, was pretty good too, but in comparison to the exceptional cheese I was not blown away. Meal was around 60 Euro with a bottle of wine and two beers for our company. Next day I was back, I chose only cheese, bread and wine. Mm.
