Wow. This place is freaking amazing! The food and service and the dudes that work here all I can…read moresay is hell yeah. I'm a little drunk as I'm writing this. This is the coolest bar/restaurant in Bordeaux! Yeah baby! Loving it. Can't get enough. Drinking and more drinking. Drinking with the cool bartenders (keep buying rounds for them) and eating their amazing food. This place is a little different in they have a set menu with a few select items. I got the 12 oz steak. Still small for me. My friends all got the Duck. I can't do duck. I feel bad. Their so cute. Poor duckies. My food was amazing. I got the 12 oz steak. Not Prime level like the US but it was great. Served with fries and white rice I devoured every bite. I also got the mushroom sauce. Probably because I needed food in my stomach because I drank so much. Steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We drank a lot of great wines and beer. These guys are super cool. We kept buying rounds for everyone. That's probably part of the reason they loved us haha. But great food and great service. What more can I say. Super cool bar and restaurant. Highly recommend!

You must come here if you're in Bordeaux for haches de boeuf, which is a minced beef patty…read moresmothered in sauce and served with a small salad and a stack of fries. I got the mustard, cream, and onion patty and I LOVED it. I soaked my fries in the sauce to make sure nothing was left on the plate. The wine was great as well, but you can also get a chalice of beer! Service is great and friendly

If I only had the words for this one, wow, just wow! Very trendy, dimly lit dining room with art on…read morethe walls and a glass wall separating the dining room from the wine cellar. Service was extremely attentive and here they do it right, new glass for every wine, decanter brought out when necessary, plates always clear before the next course. We started with the gnocchi with braised lamb which was delicate and light and the gnocchi charred perfectly. Then we went on to the pork belly which was perfectly rendered yet nice and crisp on the outside. The cheeseboard was excellent as well and really focused on the quality of the cheeses. But that was not all, we ordered a couple desserts from the menu but what we got was a show. The crepes were flambéd table side and they were phenomenal, perfectly balance of butter, orange and cognac. Now for the wine. Probably the best by the glass list I have ever seen in a restaurant. Beautiful expression of French wines with fair prices. They offer a 7cl pour of many of their wines so you can try multiple (we tried about 6!). By the bottle we got a fantastic burgnedy Pinot noir (bouchard père & fils 2005). Under $100 for a aged notable burgnedy wine is a bargain. If your visiting Bordeaux as a wine enthusiast, this should be your first stop!! Truly a gem. Oh and yes they do speak English.

I'm writing this review in English rather than French because I feel that it will be more relevant…read moreto non-French speakers. I visited Point Rouge tonight with three friends: two of us were British and two were American. The food and wine were both delicious, beautiful, and beyond reproach. However, the service failed to meet the standards the kitchen had established. Although the restaurant was far from full on a Monday night, we consistently waited much longer than every other table for every course, every glass of water, and every drop of wine. Determined to enjoy ourselves anyway, we watched several tables order crêpes Suzette, which were prepared tableside with great pageantry (several diners videoed the preduction), so we ordered them, too. But we were the only table who had our crêpes delivered cold without the tableside drama. I took one frosty bite and retired my fork, and when the waiter asked if there was something wrong with my crêpes, I told him I was disappointed not to have had them prepared tableside. He laughed and took my plate away. We were all charged full price anyway, and I might just mention here that the bill for four of us totaled €288. I am very sorry not to be able to recommend a restaurant with such wonderful food, but of course inferior service can destroy any meal. I cannot prove that the service we received was related that we weren't French, but by the time we left, it certainly felt that way. I might also mention that the toilets are quite...unusual. The doors are clear glass until you enter and lock the door, when they become opaque. However, there is no sign or other indicator that this will happen, so it looks for all the world as though you will be using the toilet in full view of everyone who walks by. I found this to be a very odd, almost cruel, décor decision.

I do not understand why this restaurant has received such excellent reviews both on TripAdvisor and Yelp, but I guess it is proving the famous saying "different strokes for different folks, to each his own, tastes differ". Arriving to the restaurant, we were quickly seated and got to order some drinks which were also served immediately. Then we were pretty much left to ourselves. People arriving later than us placed their orders and after having left us alone apparently struggling with the French menu for a good 15 minutes, the waiter came with the English version; "it's probably easier with this one". It was. We placed our order, but again we waited. For a long time. Before the starters finally came. My sister's squid dish looked sad and tasted nothing and too much at the same time. The combination just didn't work and the seasoning was lacking. My oysters and langoustine tartar looked elegant, and with such ingredients, it shouldn't be possible to go wrong. It is. I was deeply disturbed by experiencing how wrong it can be. Just keep it simple next time, please! Main course: veal Wellington with artichokes for my sister and chicken surprise with duck foie gras for me. I'm feel the taste it in my mouth whilst writing this, and definitely not in a good way. The amount of fat the chicken and vegetables were swimming in. The tasteless elements. I'm certain most roadside cafes would be embarrassed by serving this. Yet I got it here. The veal Wellington wasn't better. The veal was overcooked. The artichokes were just grey. My sister couldn't hide it when the waiter came to clean the table. Which actually lead to the only reason why I give two stars instead of one. The second waiter came to ask what was wrong with it. She apologized and seemed to actually care. We did not order any coffee or dessert, but sat long enough to finish our bottle of wine. Whilst we sat there, the waiter brought us the first tasteful dish of the dinner; a raspberry and vanilla surprise dessert from the Chef as an apology. At least they tried.
