My friend and I wanted Thai for our last night in Paris, and this place was close to our hotel. We had been travelling for 3 months and didn't want anything overly expensive so we alerted our waitress to this. She suggested that we split a $35 meal between the two of us. It consisted of small portions of Chinese entrees, a small mixed meat main and a flavourless "traditional thai" dessert. The plating was pleasant throughout but the taste was very plain - maybe the chef knew this as he presented us with mountains of sauces to cover the dull taste. Due to the nice presentation, we called over our waitress just to confirm that this was just one meal split between two, and that we would only be paying $35 total for the meal, rather than $35 each. She confirmed that this was the case, but when our bill was brought out to us, we had been charged twice. Never one to make a scene, my friend calmly called over the waiter that had relieved our previous waitress of her shift and explained the situation. The waiter then told us he would bring out the owner. The owner must have had something against english mother tongues because the he was immediately offensive as my friend started to explain our situation. He told her that it was our mistake for eating the food and that it was impossible that our waitress had told us that the dish could be split between two people. I tried to ask if i could explain the situation and was immediately shushed - YES, actually SHUSHED, he put his finger to his mouth and told me to shush - by the owner. We explained that we did not want an expensive dinner and the waitress suggested this split meal because of that. We were told by the waiter that if we wanted something inexpensive we should have gone to McDonalds. I tried to convey that there must have been a misunderstanding and that it was not our error, but he spat a rude reply of "Two words. Cash or Credit." Due to our shock and distress we fumbled around for a few seconds trying to work out how much the bill would be split between two, and the owner pulled out his phone and said he was calling the police. We ended up having to pay over 50 euro each including wine, for average food and very very disgusting customer service. For anyone that does not want their entire night to be ruined by horrible, arrogant people - do not go here. Would not return even if I was being paid to do so. read more
