The walls have that rusted-bronze shade that is so in (think Pottery Barn and the Restauration Hardware store) and it is peaceful but yet alive. Who go there? Everyone goes there *business men, houseviwes, tourists, children,people with a pulse* It is a great place to have great food. I often hear that Americans struggle to find inexpensive but yet amazing restaurants while in France. The search has ended! The food was exquisite and there was plenty. The menu starts around fifteen dollars per person including a salad and a dessert. This is a family owned business with a family style restaurant (nothing like the US). It is an elegant venue to have a date or get together with friends. If you go there, please have the fritture and the amazing gratin. I will go back before I return to San Francisco. Had a beautiful lunch at L'Ynsolence this afternoon. Was walking around Grenoble trying to get to…read moreknow the city and walked by and saw someone outside eating a fish dish that looked delish! So I stopped in, learned that they had an English menu and went for it. The waitresses were very kind and had a great sense of humor helping me as I stumbled through the French I was referring to on the Rick Steve's page I ripped out of his Paris guidebook. I settled on one of two plats du jour, which today was a piece of whitefish in a lemon, butter caper sauce, with a sprig of rosemary,couscous and sauteed snow peas. They also provided a giant bottle of water and a basket of bread. I ordered a glass of house chardonnay. The white fish was light and fresh. The couscous was hearty and the snow peas were lightly sauteed. After lunch I sat and drank an espresso, finished my water and went on my way. Altogether, I paid 15,90€. Loved it!

We each ordered the priz fixe 28€ option; we each got onion soup; which was different from the one in Paris, but equally good. Emmentaler chews in place of grueyer; and the broth tasted almost mushroom-like. We added on 6 escargot; served out of the shell in butter and parsley; classic and delicious. Aimée had the mushroom ravioli, served in a crock dish; the sauce/cheese was sweet and flavorful; more ravioli pieces than entire ravioli; I had the fish of the day; sea bass with a vegetable sauce that had a deep flavor; came with cooked local in season vegetables, a perfect accompaniment. Aimée had the strawberry soup for dessert; came in a sundae dish with what appeared to be gelato in the middle; wonderful, tart. I had the local dessert as recommended by our waiter; walnut pie with chartreuse ice cream. The rich pie, with walnuts was offset by the ice cream in the most wonderful way. Our waiter was excellent; great recommendations, even though they were very busy he kept up and had a great attitude. Highly recommend - will be back if in Grenoble again

A nice place to eat lunch or a quick pizza. They have a reasonably priced lunch menu - their "plat…read moredu jour" (lunch plate) is around 9€50 (pretty inexpensive for the area) and is generally a decent deal. The restaurant is located in a pedestrian-only street a half-block (50m?) from the main artery of the town (so it's fairly calm). There is a pretty large outdoor "terrace" under an awning, surrounded by bushes in planters, giving a nice, covered, relaxing place to enjoy lunch when the weather is nice(although smoking is allowed outside). Their pizzas are pretty damn good - they are "Italian style" (very thin crust, with tomato sauce and cheese and just a few sparse toppings). From memory, they are 11€50 for up to 3 toppings, your choice. Toppings are ham, prociutto, extra (strong & smelly) cheeses, mushrooms, bacon, etc. I've never been very impressed by their non-pizza menu items - not bad, but nothing to write home about (compared to other restaurants in the area - much better than your average $20 american restaurant not in NY or SF or Seattle or D.C.). A great place to grab a pizza for lunch, with a glass or two of wine without breaking the budget.
