On a Saturday, we had a booking at a Champagne house that was a bit far from where we were staying, so we decided to find a place to have lunch on the way. After scouring the internets, we found Le Bac and stopped by to find out if we could get in.
It's a lovely house near the canal, with a gorgeous view around. We got a table for two and looked at the menu. Since I was driving, we couldn't drink too much, but we did share a small bottle of Champagne. After looking at the menu, we decided to get the Degustation menu because it looked really amazing. And if you're on holiday, why not?
It started with foie gras, and that's always a good start. It was really nicely presented and tasted great. Next were scallops wrapped in bacon with radishes. Also really well done, with a nice light sauce. Next they brought out a lemon sorbet with champagne. Really refreshing, light and lemony! For the main we had sweetbreads with mushrooms with a variety of vegetables. The vegetables were bright and cooked to perfection. There was a delicious purple potato mash with it as well. It was really a lovely looking and tasting dish.
Next was a cheese course, with Brie de Meaux, and two other cheeses, all were tasty. Dessert was a selection of gourmandises. Very pretty and tasty. After everything, we were incredibly impressed with the quality of food and service that they gave us while we were here.
If you're nearby, I highly recommend stopping by for a fantastic meal. read more
