We stopped by on Saturday around 6 PM and the manager was so kind to help us put a larger table together. We only waited about 10 minutes. Our server was so sweet. I don't remember her name, but she was extremely knowledgeable about all the cocktails -- and there are many. It's one thing to memorize the ingredients, but quite another to understand flavor, profiles, textures, substitutions, etc. she really knows her stuff and was great at making recommendations. We tried a number of different cocktails, including the Headhunter, Xanadu, London press, lemon ginger NA, and poco loco. Personally, I had the headhunter and Poco Loco. The headhunter was yummy, but not special enough to order again. The Poco Loco, however, was unique and delicious with the habanero infusion so present and the foamy top giving it a melt in your mouth texture. It's pretty warm in there as they have no AC and no fans to circulate the air and it is still summer, plus drinking makes you hotter, so we were a little sweaty, but This is of course, a very temporary feeling as the area does not stay this hot for long. As we spoke in unison, I thought to myself, maybe we are in need of a little giggle water to get the night started, then just like that the door shut...silence. He kindly welcomed us into a small but quaint waiting area and told us he'd be back in a few. When he returned, he handed us three glasses of champagne. Dang, we're not even in the bar yet but already digging this place! Finally we're in, and reminiscent of the 1920's with its vintage and retro decor...this speakeasy was super cool, comfy and cozy! Are we really in Montrose? Their drink menu was awesome and I'm not gonna lie, but it was kinda fun watching our mixologist carefully hand craft our cocktails with such care and pride...after all, not everyone can shake, rattle and stir like a mixologist...these peeps are trained professionals! My husband and I were visiting Montrose and decided to try the local speakeasy for a night out. We were greeted at the door immediately and was well taken care of the second we walked in. I contacted them through their website and they replied that they did in fact stock this beer. I went out today and met them and they are delightful. The taproom was started by two women who love to drink beer and while they have only been in business for 7 months, they seem to be doing well.
