Stopped by to get out of the rain on a drizzly Friday afternoon. We were promptly greeted as we walked in. We paid our $6/piece and spent 45 minutes enjoying some time with the cats. I wish we could adopt one from here but our cat does not play nice with others. The location was clean and there were lots of activities for the cats to do to keep themselves busy. They offer coffee for purchase and there is WiFi if you have work to do. A wine/beer license may go against their mission but some wine and kitty cats seems like a good way to spend an hour!!

Came in with friends for a visit! We were greeted right when we walked in and had so much fun during our hour of play time :) Friendly and knowledgeable staff and such a unique experience, we all left with smiles. There's also super cute shops around the area so you can definitely make a day of it! We can't wait to come back, hopefully soon!

The ONLY sign I saw was halfway down that dirt road that mentioned the Humane Society was ahead. There is also a URL on their site that has absolutely nothing to do with the Humane Society. It is in Japanese and does not mention animals at all. Why haven't they taken it down yet? And why not better directions to their building? More signs would certainly help, also.

For the last two weeks, the Tippecanoe County Humane Society has put a hold on what are…read moreunfortunately referred to as "bully" dogs. The shelter already had a stringent adoption policy in place for any dog they suspected of having an undesirable bloodline, but it now has decided to change its policy. The problem is that they didn't decide on a new policy before they revoked the old one. Now there are several dogs, it is unclear how many, that simply have nowhere to go. Families desperately wanting to adopt them, and willing to jump through any hoops, are told they can do nothing but wait. In the meantime, however, these dogs are not getting the care they require. This issue is very personal for me. There is a beautiful and kind dog, Cloud, which I have been trying to adopt for almost 2 weeks. My husband and I have visited her every day, brought her treats on her 6-month birthday, taken her for walks, and have spent hours rubbing her belly. Several times when we came to visit, her cage had urine in it, yet we have been biting our tongues out of respect for how difficult it must be to run a shelter. But on Sunday when I went to see her, she was covered in urine and feces. I couldn't stand it anymore, and I confronted the manager about their refusal to let me adopt Cloud. He said they were adding a "questionnaire" to their adoption policy for "bully" breeds. He told me that he could tell me it would just take another week, but that he would be lying. The hold is indefinite, and he has no idea how long it will take to draft up this questionnaire. I am a proud woman: a teacher at Purdue, in the middle of getting a PhD, but I literally begged him to tell me what I could do to adopt her. In tears, I said I would fill any questionnaire, get as many letters of recommendation as he wanted, get a letter from every vet I've known, have a home visit, anything. But, no. I'm helpless. And the adorable puppy that I have fallen in love with is still in a cage today, covered in urine and feces. Please, Tippecanoe County Humane Society. Your mission is to help dogs find good homes. Be reasonable; be compassionate. We all love animals. We all want the same thing. Finish your questionnaire or let us adopt under the old policy until you finish it. See reason; you are only hurting the animals and loving families with your inflexible position.

I found Personal Pet Care Assistant run by Allison Thomas through an online search and thought I would give it a try. Allison's website alone is impressive giving her credentials plus all the services she offers for most any animal and its living situation. She can customize her visits to anyone's situation and her rates are competitive. Allison is so thorough in the questions that she asks (things I would never think to tell someone about my animals or home) during the initial consultation. I absolutely love the report card notes she leaves behind regarding each visit she makes! They were especially helpful in the beginning as my dog went through a few weeks of minor separation anxiety. Allison kept me up to date on his behavior so we could adjust his environment to help him acclimate to his new home quicker. They are always personalized showing she truly loves what she does and that she loves my dog as much as I do! I would recommend her to anyone that has a pet sitting need. She has thought of absolutely everything. I trust her to be in my home and around my animals. She's never disappointed and I'm so glad I found her business. I will continue to do business with her and recommend her to anyone!

Earlier this year, I had to rush Smoochie to an emergency vet after hours because she was peeing blood. That clinic told me all her blood tests were bad and that she had kidney stones(they were able to remove). When Dr. Becker reviewed the records, she immediately noticed they had entered her as a dog instead of a guinea pig. She took the time to explain everything clearly and reassured me when I was overwhelmed with worry. Smoochie kept peeing blood whenever she wasn't on antibiotics and pain medication, so we decided together that the most compassionate option was to spay her. I knew Smoochie was in the very best hands, and Dr. Becker's kindness and skill made such a difference during that stressful time. Even after surgery, Smoochie continued having issues, and Dr. Becker came in on her day off to help with her care. That alone speaks volumes about her dedication. She walked me through every option with so much patience and never made me feel rushed or judged. Ultimately, we decided to focus on keeping Smoochie comfortable and managing her pain until her body is ready to let go, and Dr. Becker has continued to support me with compassion and honesty every step of the way. She came in on her off day once for an emergency and She has personally called me to talk through Smoochie's care plans, and that level of follow-up and empathy is something you don't find everywhere. I also want to mention the wonderful girl at the front I believe her name is Gabby, who has always been so kind and welcoming. She is the only person who has consistently called me back, helped me get squeezed in for urgent appointments, and made sure we were taken care of. They have made some of the hardest times as a pet parent feel easier and less lonely. I trust Dr. Becker completely and am so grateful for the care and compassion they have shown to both my guinea pigs.

The care our pets have received here for years is outstanding and at a reasonable price. A vet visit isn't always fun: new puppies and kittens, baby guinea pigs and ferrets' checkups, sure. But sometimes you're there with a very sick animal or an end of life visit, and this is where the caring and compassion means so much. Highly recommend.
