Great meat market with a super diverse selection of meats and preps. The wagyu ribeye steaks were fantastic cuts with large cap meat portions. They were tender and some of the best tasting grassfed steaks we've made. We also brought home some of their house andouille sausage which turned out an excellent gumbo. Meaty, bold, and spicy. I will definitely be back to try more of the unique sausages. Everything from elk and venison to buffalo and gator. All of the meat was vacuum packed and looked great. I purchased a 10lb prime rib with bone in roast. 4 bones. OMG the smell when I opened it yesterday. We spent 200.00. I'm truly disappointed . Funny the beautiful pictures on Yelp I did not see when in butcher shop it was dirty and meat brown in cases. They retrieved mine a cooler and we picked it up about 5:00 pm. When Hubbel & Hudson in The Woodlands closed down their market, I was so bummed. I also needed an alternative place to buy quality meat. Lawson's is that place. I'm a basic beef girl, but Lawson's has everything. More than the meat is the service. Everyone is friendly there and knowledgeable. Talk to them; let them know what you're looking for. For example, I asked for Beef Chuck for a stew. The young man (the son?) suggested English stew meat. I wish I had asked for an explanation, but I decided to just go for it. BTW: It was a $1 a pound cheaper than the other options. It was prepackaged, vacuum-sealed. My grandfather used to be a butcher. I know a good-lookin' hunk o' beef when I see one. Put this 2.5 pounder in the slow cooker just now. It looks beautiful. I'm making stroganoff. I'll try to remember to update this review with the results. My husband made a stew with their beef chuck and the family loved it. He said it was far superior to supermarket meat. Lawson's also offers a service where you can get a variety package of meats and they give it to you freezer ready. Talk to them for more details. They have a great selection of smoker wood. And bacon. And sausage. Next trip I'm trying the jalapeño bacon. Yeah, baby! If you're a deer hunter, they offer to handle that for you. So this is the second time I've used Lawson's. The first time was several years ago and, like this time, the service was outstanding, the people were friendly, and they delivered exactly what I asked for on time. Now it may not be my place to comment on other Yelp feedback, but this is a butcher shop. Custom slaughtering and processing. That is what they do. Associated with that you're going to have animals, smells, and employees doing their job. In alignment with the title, a butcher slaughter's and processes meat for human consumption. I don't mind animal rights activists having their opinion or even expressing it. I fully support them in doing so. But I just have to ask, what did they expect of a slaughterhouse? I find Lawson's to be a reputable business that performs a task that is above my skill-set. I appreciate the job they do and I give them the my highest rating. read more

These guys are first class. They didn't have what I wanted in the shelves but he made it right there on the spot. A whole pork loin stuffed. Seasoned it and netted on order. We are ecstatic that we discovered Lawsons. This is an authentic neighborhood meat market. Great selection of all natural meats and types of cuts, no steroids, antibiotics or hormones . Brian the butcher is awesome. He recommended some spicy stuffed pork loins because we said we love spicy seasonings. We got both boudin sausage and crawfish sausage stuffed. Amazing! They come bacon wrapped and cooked up perfect. Brian also has various sausages he makes from scratch. All meat with no fillers or MSG. The jalapeño cheddar ones are incredible. There is one guy in there that ALWAYS tries to upsale me on products when I go in there knowing exactly what I want and then make you feel bad when you don't buy it. Famyly owned and operated. The BEST place in The Woodland to buy a REAL meat. It is tastes different!!! I grew up outside the US and I berely can eat meat from HEB, Kroger etc. It seems like they get meat from farmers who feed animals just right. Chicken tastes and smells just like my grandmas chicken! No stinky yellow fat and strange smell when you boil it. It better then Meat from habble and hudson, but cheaper. Also they sell woods. They closed on Monday as far as I know. My husband and I have been going here since 2002 when we moved to Africa. Since you can't buy meat there we brought our own and they would hard freeze it for us and even open on a Monday for us to pick it up b/c the plane left on a Tuesday very early in the morning. They go above and beyond in customer service and you can't beat their meat quality. I LOVE their jalapeño sausage but even for a New Orleans girl it was too spicy so they make me a special batch. When we moved back we lived in Houston for a year then were transferred to Corpus we drove from Corpus to Spring to get our "FIX" from Lawson's. Thank goodness we are now close enough down 1960 although with traffic it feels like we still live in Corpus...Thanks Lawson's for being AWESOME read more

It's the day before Christmas and I'm searching for a spiral ham to glaze, so I came to Lawson's to check out their selection. Let me just say that their product lived up their name, because the ham was a huge hit! Now, I will give some credit to the coke-a-cola and peach whiskey glaze, but the quality of the ham was great.
