She refused to consider my specific questions but simply sent me to the on-site audiologist, who confirmed the hearing loss and recommended a hearing aid. It felt like I'd seen a salesperson, not a physician. ENT & Allergy Associates was once an excellent MD group on East 86th Street. Now it feels like a corporate-owned money factory. I would strongly caution against seeing Dr. Keenan.

You never heard of it...of course not... only 9 in 100,000 people have this and I'm one of the lucky ones. My internist found it on a fluke, and I actually thought the drs were just trying to bill my insurance.I never had any symptoms and it wasn't until surgeons started talking about multiple surgeries that I started to do some real research. . The first ENT didn't even know what it was, he had another doctor in the practice diagnose it and the specialist they sent me to said it was going to be 2-3 surgeries. I went to University of Miami and the doctor there,was the president of the American Neurotology Society. He wanted to do 4 surgeries. Now I was totally freaked so I started to google this every day for hours at a time. Mount Sinai came up claiming they were 98% successful with 1 surgery only and they were a leader with advanced technology. Well, no offense to anyone in Florida that's a no-brainer so I flew up to Mount Sinai. I met with a Neurotologist, Dr. Enrique Perez, who was professional, thorough, and understanding . He could see that I was scared and nervous and he took the time to answer all my questions with sincerity.. I knew I made the right decision. My 1 surgery was successful, it was a little more complicated than expected, but we are now four years post surgery. I have not had any recurrence and I am now cleared for another year. I go to Mount Sinai twice a year and the care here is so special. It's easy to schedule appointments on the app and you can always leave a message for the doctor and you will receive a response within 24 hours. Hopefully no one ever has to be diagnosed with Cholesteatoma but if you need any ENT issues this is definitely where you go.

After my phone call I decided to double check with my new insurance to make sure the receptionist was correct, as it turns out they did not accept my insurance. Problem Number 2 - I found a new ENT that took my insurance and meet with him. Everything worked out fine but my new ENT wanted to see some blood work that Dr. Nass had me take in the fall. Long story short after 2 weeks of trying to get my blood work sent to my new doctor, they never sent it. As far as Dr. Nass goes, he he literally the best of the best. If you do your homework you'll see that he has tons of awards and great reviews. I trust him 100%!

I had originally booked on Zocdoc, but my appointment was canceled without any reason, but I called the office and they were quick to set me up with another appointment right away. The office itself is clean, they're set up well for COVID19, with a HEPA filter and chairs distanced very far apart. The receptionists' desk also has plexiglass and everyone was wearing masks. I felt completely safe at all times. Dr. Lessow saw me within minutes of check-in. She is so compassionate and took her time to get a thorough medical history and really dig into what could be causing my issues (I went in for snoring issues as well as some ear wax buildup). After the initial intake, she then proceeded to take a thorough look at my ears as well as my nose (with a scope). Every step of the way, she was explaining to me what she was doing and also answering any questions I might have. At the end of the exam, she had an answer for my life-long snoring issue! She then presented me with some pharmaceutical options first and said that we should try that before considering surgery. I love her careful approach to treatment! She also has a system that can check how much your medication will cost at your chosen pharmacy, and she was very good about choosing options that were reasonably priced. Afterwards, she walked me back out to the receptionist, who was always so sweet and helpful in explaining the next steps to me. Overall, the appointment was almost 30/40 minutes - something I've hardly experienced, as most appointments I have are closer to 5-10 minutes. If you're looking for a compassionate ENT in the NYC area, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Lessow!

Leanne's knowledge of the involved anatomy, her appreciation of why not being able to sing as one was once trained and laugh as one would like, her ability and willingness to shift her, for lack of a better term, teaching style, and her complete empathy for the patient while they struggle to breathe effectively, voice in a healthy way, and find new speaking modalities are unlike any I have experienced.
