The massages here are a combination of deep tissue massage, sports massage and stretching. I usually like more pressure and have found all the massage therapists will adjust the pressure based on your liking. In my opinion this is not a relaxing type of massage but more of an intense massage where you feel like you just ran 26 miles but after a few hours after the massage you definitely feel all loosened out. They offer a monthly membership or you can drop in. You can also select between whole body massage or target a specific area. Definitely recommend phila massages for those looking for an intense deep tissue sports massage.

I asked a few times if they could soften the pressure, and eventually asked if this was actually a Swedish massage. They responded, "Yes, this is the medical massage." After I got home, I checked the website again and realized that a "medical massage" isn't even an option when booking online, so I'm not sure if there was a misunderstanding or if this is simply how they perform their Swedish massages. Even after that conversation, I had to ask on multiple occasions for the pressure to be reduced. If this was their standard Swedish massage, it was far more intense than any Swedish massage I've had before. I also noticed other reviews mentioning how intense the massages can be. I'd definitely recommend confirming exactly what type of massage you're getting and discussing the pressure level before they begin as this was not relaxing at all.

After each of the three 60-minute deep tissue sessions I have had at the studio (1 with Briana, 2 with Laura), I was given plenty of time to return myself "to earth", drink a cup of water, and ask questions. Laura has also shown me a few simple and useful light neck and back stretches to help ease tension. (I have found that it's best to request appointments at least several days in advance, and have a few options of date/time in mind. Don't expect same day appointments. There is only 1 table, and 1 therapist working at a time. I'd recommend either therapist.)
