The learning/nap room

I have my toodler attend Laurel Play Gardens, and I'm so happy with them. MS. akriti & Miss, Souvannary are great. ALL the teachers are the best so warm and caring. My main concern was for my son to become better at his social skills. And he has learned so much. Not only is he learning how to be respectful and well manered, he is so much happier, I value so much when I see my son come out of his day with the daycare so happy, it means he is well treated. He lives telling me about what he learned. They are great at sending weekly memos with the learning program for the week and the food program for the week. They engage with each kids different personality, and they are firm but kind always where needed to help your kids have structure. Atleast to what I have been able to appreciate these past few month. I'm happy with this daycare.

Our four-year-old daughter has been going here since September and she loves it so much! The staff is wonderful and it's so great to know your child is in a safe, loving environment every day. The facilities are nice too -- very clean, and there is a wonderful garden for the children to play and learn in. In terms of the learning style, it's very unique and tailored to each child which has really helped our daughter flourish. Other schools we visited seemed to have all children on the same track which is likely due to higher teacher/student ratios. At Laurel the teacher/student ratio is very low so students receive more personalized attention. This is definitely a unique learning experience you won't find anywhere else, and we're so happy that our daughter is a part of it!

All of the teachers (including assistant teachers and outdoor teacher) are trained with AMI (Association Montessori Internationale), which is hard to find. Teachers are supportive and caring. They offer parent workshops and provide handouts to families in order for us to understand Montessori and children's needs. I hope other families could experience what our children gained from SJMS. We looked at many preschools, but none of them felt quite right until we toured SJMS. The staff is extremely conscientious, engaged, and dedicated to the children. While many schools claim to be Montessori, many don't actually adhere to the principles very closely. SJMS is a true Montessori school, taking the time to not only practice the Montessori method but also to educate parents about the method. The school is small, just two classrooms with two dedicated teachers in each classroom, so the student-teacher ratio is quite good. If you're looking for a Montessori school that prioritizes the experience of your child, look no further.

My eldest graduated preschool from here which definitely prepared her for kindergarten. They have a beautiful program - structured play, circle time, fine motor skills, arts and crafts, academics, practical life skills - everything is play driven and fun for kids. The teachers went above and beyond to accommodate my child's medical needs, and I can never thank them enough for all the support and love and care they have provided. Now my youngest attends here and she loves this place just as much. The owner Ms. Ritu knows the students and families. She is hands on and accommodating. I highly recommend this place. I found them through a mom's group because I heard they are affordable and they potty train your kids! We tried everything in the book and the advice from other parents but nothing worked. That is, nothing worked until a few weeks after attending this preschool. The rates differ for potty trained and not potty trained. As soon as my little one was consistent, they switched to the potty-trained rate. Thank you! They provide food and snacks (included in the price) and the school is opened as early as 7:30Am-5:30Pm. This was one of my favorite things about the school . We did the 8hr/day, 5d/wk option and it was amazing. My daughter was there for a year and we wish we could keep her there but she had to move on. My daughter learned a lot (zoo phonics, reading, writing, cutting, geography, biology, the planets, etc). My 4 year old surprised us with naming the continents and saying significant things about each continent. She recited the anatomy of an insect (including the thorax)! She told us about the flower's stamen, pollinators, chlorophyll, and photosynthesis! She's 4 years old! That's insane and we are super happy. You also get to keep a binder of your child's work and you can see the progression on top of the crafts and projects they send the kids home with. The holidays are festive too! She loved the school and didn't want to leave. The school provides a monthly newsletter, the curriculum for the month, and the lunch menu. As parents of a tough- minded child, the partnership we had with the teachers helped keep our little one's attitude on check at home. With that said, we gained friendships along the way. These people are caring and we always felt like our child was in good care under their supervision. We highly recommend them!

We also really appreciate the perfect balance of play, education, and structure, along with the help with potty training, snacks, and fun celebrations. Another thing we treasure about CNS is how the families and parents genuinely get to know one another. Our son has made friendships we hope will last a lifetime, and it's so special watching those relationships grow. We are also incredibly grateful for the affordability, especially with two children and the high cost of living in the area. CNS has been such a wonderful experience for our family, and we highly recommend it!

No praise is high for Ms Priya and for the institutions she has built; she is a woman of ethics, integrity, and above all a genuine love for kids, their education, and their growth; this affection and care cannot be faked, or we would have noticed it in our 7 years of having our kids be entrusted in her hands. She has always been very responsible, responsive and ever ready to ensure we (along with all the other parents) feel like their kids are safe, taken care of, learning and growing in this tender age. The San Jose location did have a bit of a churn with teachers a year or two ago and Ms Priya took actions and kept parents informed and updated on what she's doing and why. But beyond that, we have never had health, safety, care or growth concerns with either of our kids. To sum it up: we cannot recommend Ms Priya and her schools highly enough!

There had been a lot of feedbacks and playground talks among parents that Challenger had a very strict culture and tough curriculum that not every kid can handle and adapt. The feedback is that usually boys that have high energy and too active will get into trouble a lot. To our surprise, he loves the school just after 1 week and always looking forward to going to school in the morning, we also see a big difference in his English speaking ability and his independence in behavior. We are assured to let him continue with this school for the next coming years. We want to give special thanks to the 2 teachers Miss Hemanth and Miss Sonali for their loving care and coaching, we can tell he is very happy with them and there is the strong teachers-students chemistry we observed. Kids usually are very pure and express directly what they feel so we are very assured when he nods and say he likes his teachers and wants to go to school. From what I see so far, I believe Challenger has a very strong track records and is well managed across all their schools to groom the students to be academically strong and independent character especially needed in the competitive Bay Area. No wonder Challenger had been listed as one of the top private schools in US.

This review has been long overdue. It's been three months since my daughter last attended Happy…read moredaycare, and just today while we were playing, she suddenly said, "Hurry up!" -- the first time I've ever heard her say that. I assumed it was something her new teachers say, but she quickly corrected me: "No, no, Andrea says hurry up!" She then went right back to playing, laughing and calling out, "hurry up hurry up!!" That moment alone speaks volumes about how much Andrea means to my daughter. She started at Happy daycare when she was just 1.5 years old. As a first-time mom, I cried on her first day, and Arti sat with me, gently reassuring me that we just needed to give her time to build trust. I can't express how much it meant knowing they understood this was her first time away from home. Within a week, the tears stopped. On her last day, I was the one still in tears because Andrea wouldn't be caring for my little girl anymore. Andrea is incredibly kind and patient. She cared for my daughter with so much warmth that even on weekends, my little one would ask to go see her and this happened more times than I can count. I never had to worry about food it was all taken care of at the daycare. During a medical emergency with my daughter, both Andrea and Arti stayed with her until I arrived, then remained by my side as we figured out the next steps. My daughter still misses Andrea to this day, and I know she will for a long time.

They have several rooms, a patio and a large backyard with several toys and play stations. Separate nap room with cribs is one of the main reasons we sent our daughter here. 2. They feed 3 meals + 2 snacks in a day. Note that snacks are mostly something small like crackers, pretzels, cheese sticks etc. Meals typically include oats, pasta, cheese quesadillas, paratha, idly, rice, some dal variant with veggies etc. 3. My daughter went in and came home happily every day. She started speaking and kept asking for her friends in the day care even during the weekends. Cons: 1. The kid to caretaker ratio promised is misleading. For more than half the time my daughter went here, we did not see any other care taker other than Andrea, based on the pictures we were sent and after taking to multiple kid's parents. For eg, if there are only 6 kids in certain days/weeks, likely it is run by just Andrea. They don't always honor the ratio. Caretakers are rotated across the other day cares they have. In a center-based day care, ratio is always maintained whether or not some kids are on leave. That is not done here. 2. The main reason we preferred a home based day care as opposed to a center based one is - home based day cares can be more intimate. More attention towards every kid. All other home based day cares that we tried for have several themed weeks, festival celebrations, kid's birthday celebrations, farewell parties, parents meet n greet etc. Do not expect any such things here. They do the basic care taking. 3. My daughter came home several times with food dried up on her face. They may not be cleaning up promptly and thoroughly after meal times. Overall, it's a decent day care that tends to kids well.
