I like Laughlin it's real laid back and it's on the Colorado river with some nice casinos and places to eat. All the casinos are remodeled with your normal gaming. Laughlin is a beat up little town that needs everything remodeled and it smells like cigarette smoke in every casino. They're slowly updating here and there but that's not what draws us to this place. The people here are good ol' hard working folks and retirees just trying to have a little time to play without the pretence -and expense- a place like Las Vegas extends. Nope, just a bunch of dads betting on basketball games and moms and grandparents at the slots or socializing poolside. The "nightlife" consists of a crowd of 18 to 88 year olds. Everyone has a great time and the drinks don't break the bank! If you want bright shiny new chic buildings with velvet rope bottle service, neon lights everywhere and young scantily clad girls serving you... you're in the wroooong place! If you want affordable, clean enough, and just need your basic needs met by some of the nicest, hardworking people you'll have the pleasure of meeting you'll fit right in! If you have an RV and some jetski's even better!! Play in the water all day and then in the casino at night! The river is beautiful, the sky goes on forever and there's music in the air wherever you go. Come for the friendliness, come because it's welcoming and not a typical city... come as you are! Laughlin NV to me is like a version of Freemont. Place is kinda dated and only is known for the River in my opinion. Dont take me wrong its still a good place to come out and hit up the river, gambling, and some decent bars. A tip is to fill up on gas across the river on the AZ side to save close to $1.00 per gallon. read more

It's an ideal day trip for Las Vegans (the pace is slower). It is small, but it's got some character. I've been here about a dozen times since the 1990s. A few casinos/ hotels (one has a beach), a mall, but it seemed a bit more unoccupied the last time we visited (that was sad); the movie theater is still there. I really liked being on the Colorado River though I did get sunburn there (it's rare for me to get sunburn). I've stayed at a couple of casinos except I don't remember which ones they were, but I remember the rooms being comfortable for an overnight stay. I was able to go to the Arizona side, just to say that I've been- that's funny. (Noone talks about it anymore, but one of the casinos had a deadly shooting, inside the casino, involving motorcycle gang members.) We made the mistake of heading here, one day, which was our wedding anniversary, and the same day as the huge annual motorcycle event, the Laughlin River Run. Wow, the main street was crowded with so many people in attendance. It was funny, because on the drive over, we noticed many people on motorcycles. And then the lightbulb went off. Oh well, we learned something that day (Yes, I am quoting "South Park"). It was very crowded, especially on the main street, but surprisingly, not rowdy. Anyway, we've come here a couple of times with our son, and he really liked being at the beach but it started raining, and we were unprepared. Note to self, bring a towel, just in case. We were able to do quite a bit of walking and exploring- it's really nice to walk along the water, too. (We really really like the Bubba Gump, which is overlooking the water, it's so nice to have lunch out there. And we visited the discount store, which had some deals.) I have to share a nice story. Many years ago, we took the dinner cruise on Valentine's Day. It was our first V-Day, so hubby planned it. I didn't know where we were going but I had a blindfold over my eyes (and the drive is 45 min to an hour, each way). It ended up being a nice surprise on the dinner cruise (it was very thoughtful). Not a bad town to visit. Many come here expecting to find an alternative version of Vegas. Yes and no... This place is definitely set to the older crowd. By older I mean ages 35 and up. There are numerous casinos and hotels but nothing in the grand scale one finds in Vegas. Again, if you suck the Vegas fantasy then you'll enjoy this place a lot more. The Riverwalk is great as it connects all the hotels together with the exception of Harrah's, which you'll have to take a boat to get to or take a very LONG detour around the main street and up a long hill (not recommended doing that btw). The town is laid back, I loved my experience there. If you're looking for a laid back gambling experience this is definitely a great stay. And if you like wildlife, the skunks and raccoons come out on the River walk boardwalk at night! read more
