Not only was Sarah extremely creative and knowledgable with regards to art / interior design, but she was also very pleasant and easy to work with. She quickly understood exactly what we were looking for and suggested a number of different pieces, all of which we ended up loving. Additionally, on more than one occasion, Sarah would suggest something that wasn't necessarily what we would've chosen on our own, but these pieces turned out to be some of our favorites. When it comes to art consulting and interior design, Sarah is truly the best. Next time we're in Charleston, we will be sure to tour with Canvas Charleston, as I'm sure her art tours are fabulous as well!

The space is only a couple of rooms, and houses a rotating exhibition with no permanent collection. I happened in on a day when the artist du jour was giving a talk and just missed it, which was a shame. The exhibit was a very locally flavored multimedia experience built around the shore, with the signature pieces composed of scraps of more conventional paintings which had been destroyed by a hurricane. One could easily stop for restrooms and water in the building and there was a sort of art vending machine among a small gift selection.

It's also worth noting you are able to host weddings here.

The walking tour is very pleasant and truly interesting, and the lunch that follows is absolutely amazing. The menu changes with the season and is always made with nothing but local ingredients. This time we started with a delicious Butternut Squash soup followed by Shrimp and Grits. Now, this one of my favorite dishes and I've never tasted better. We finished with bread pudding made from Krispy Kreme doughnuts?? Shut the front door! My wife and I would do this again and again. This a must do, and we highly recommend you put it on your list!

Walked for about an hour through historical places and ended up at the Azur restaurant. Tip: Pack a bottle of water for the walk - or you can purchase a drink near the beginning of the walking tour at a coffee shop. We take food tours everywhere we travel and this one was the best, hands down!

During my first visit to Charleston a few years ago, I took one of their daytime carriage tours and left feeling... underwhelmed. I didn't learn all that much, the tour wasn't especially memorable, and I wrote that I'd rather have explored the city on foot. Fast forward to my most recent visit when one of my friends wanted to do the Haunted Carriage Tour. Since it was something different, I happily went along and I'm glad I did. Our horse, Ron, was a 2,000 pound French Percheron and wow.... talk about a workhorse! From what I observed, the horses seemed well cared for despite the small stable. It was fun learning a little about Ron before we set off. Our guide, Matt, was informative, engaging, and did a great job mixing Charleston history with the haunted stories. While I'm not really into ghost tours, I still learned quite a bit. In fact, my favorite takeaway wasn't haunted at all - it was learning the difference between a graveyard and a cemetery. This tour also had a digital component as we were prompted to scan the QR code to see photos of the individuals/"ghosts" he was talking about. The tour also gave us another opportunity to see Charleston from a different perspective and this time around I enjoyed riding through the historic streets by carriage. Overall, this experience was much more enjoyable than my first. The company clearly has these tours down to a science and if you're deciding between a daytime tour and the haunted evening tour, I'd surprisingly recommend the latter. I'm glad I gave Old South another chance.
