For cafecito

Come to this market to stock up on all the goodies that you need. We purchased (44) items and it was under $100 the prices are amazing and you will find all of the things you love. Thank you "Latino Supermarket" we got all of our ingredients we needed since we live in South Carolina and there are no Peruvian restaurants near us .

a plate of rice, beans, and meat

Someone brought me back lunch from the Latino Supermarket so this review is only for the food. I had the roast pork. The skin was crispy on the outside and the meat was tender on the inside. I got black beans and rice and plantains. It came with a side of bean soup which was delicious! The food is fresh and oh so good. I got the lunch special. All of that food was $6.50! I call that a deal.

Steaks and veggie rice

A hole in the wall that's hitting!!!! On point! Went to Tampa for a saints game and a friend of mine from NOLA living in Tampa took us here. It's like a cafeteria line and you tell them what you want your plate to be. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! And BOUNTIFUL! My husband got a whole chicken for $8!!! I had the steak, veggie rice and it was so bomb. Wasn't a fan of the tamale but everything else made up for it.

On the way to the lunch in Valrico, we saw a Latin supermarket sign that was mention by my friend long time ago. It is a hidden gem in Valrico. The supermarket located just off the SR 60. Many of the service people may not able to communicate in English (Espanol only). By the way, I have stay in Miami for 11 years as little Spanish I know I can survive. This small matter doesn't affect me. The best language is body language. We were able to ask them to pick the food by pound in different container. I believe you also can do it too. My universal language is finger. Pointing and number count to ten is the most I can do - haha. The supermarket has the hot deli section to buy food by pound, sandwich assembly, salad, marinated seafood, fried whole fish, dessert and more. They also have regular grocery sections with seafood, meat, veggie and fruit. The different cut of meat can be found here. By the way, when you check in here, the yelp complimentary 10% discount coupon with check in, they will not honor. The supermarket also has cell phone sales, hair cut and fast food box service. This is rather interesting place like I am actual back to the Miami.

Rotten Tres leches cake from Latin Supermarket

I bought two Tres leches cake and 10 minutes later when I opened it was disgusting . The smell was like something rotten inside. I went back and told the cashier and when I gave her the cake and told her to smelled she gave me my money back.

I am so sad. I have been going here for so many years. Over the years the cleanliness of the place has gone down hill. Everything's kind of gross and dirty but even with all that I still shopped there. But the last couple times some of my food as been bad. I've bought rice they have the black bugs in the them. And this last time when I brought my rice home I noticed that there was hole in the bag and they had put blue tape over it to cover the hole. I tried calling several times to speak to the owner but their phone stays busy. So sad because I have to go somewhere else to shop now.

Longaniza! for rice and stews... or bbq

The minute I stepped out of my car and heard Celia Cruz's "La vida es un carnaval" (life is a carnival) blasting out of the glass doors I knew I had come home. I walked in to be mesmerized by the familiar smells, the particular way of rolling the "r's" in our Spanish, the noisiness and nosey-ness. I felt like Alice must have when she arrived in Wonderland. Yes, of course, I had grocery shopped in other Latin markets. But this experience, along with the variety of produce and prices, was completely different. I was on a quest and a mission. Part of eating clean is making my own sofrito (a delicious concoction made of red peppers, green peppers, garlic, cilantro, culantro, green olives, sweet red peppers - Goya in a glass kind, and ajicitos dulces.) To make the sofrito, you must have ajicitos dulces. They resemble the ones used by the Chinese and Korean, but they are not hot nor are they spicy. They are a bit smaller. You can hold four or five on the palm of your hand and their skin (either red or lime green, never yellow) is corrugated. Not smooth like a jalapeño or Havanero. They are filled with small seeds that must be removed and washed off before the blending of the ingredients. So I was on my mission to make my home-made sofrito and in the quest for ajicitos. I had gone to two other markets and had failed to find any. Latino's Supermarket had them! Among many other products incredibly familiar to me either because I love eating them or because they are a cliché of my ancestry and culture. I ran up and down the colorful aisles in excitement. My enthusiasm and exclamations became contagious and many people, both employees and customers, called me up to show me even more stuff I had overlooked, but they knew I would love to see. I had gone only to find ajicitos for the sofrito and returned to my apartment with enough groceries to survive through the apocalyptic years. My concierge was baffled, to say put it mildly. I bought yautías, panapén, batatas, platanos and yucca. I bought Rovira soda crackers. I bought guava jelly and cheese to be fried. I bought coffee from the Dominican Republic (which I love.) I bought masa de pastelillos (the dough we use to make empanadas filled with cheese, or meat, of basically anything because we also can make them quite sweet.) I bought fabuloso--all purple and lavender smelling. Fabuloso is one of those cliché cleaning products, we use to mop floors. I kept filling my cart up as I sang some salsa music. The market has a cafeteria area where you can buy cooked food and eat there or take it home with you. This are also caters activities. I did not know it until recently but they had catered Vane's "ugly sweater party" on Christmas. So I have enjoyed their pastels, arroz con gandules, and lechón. Their flan was also quite amazing. Just when I thought it could not get any better... va va va boom! They had agua florida, velones and spiritual sprays. Yes, a small botanica-like counter! I could get my yuyu clean and my mojo (not referring to sauce here, seek another meaning in dictionary) back. I bought some indigo blue and pink candles, incense and headed home to make some sofrito and redirect my qi. Celia is right: Life is a carnival if you know where to go.

Decided to shop here to change the usual preferred grocery shop. Found some new fruit alternatives…read more The whole produce area has new n exotics types also. Found Yellow Watermelon slices. They were Delicious but the taste almost had no taste difference. Except its texture. Local Watermelon has a grainy texture when you byte into it. This one has a more gel like consistency. But like i said, taste almost the same as regular, for some weird reason i was hoping it was going to be like the white strawberries that are grown in the snow. Those have a mild pineapple taste to them. I think Yellow Watermelon would be great to surprise the kids or if you have a show n tell at school, blow the class away with your sorcery. Lol Went with Cherries, huge batch, plump and so pure. Will be back for more, they have the sugar level n tannins perfect for wine making. Found some Rainbow trout at the Butcher area. The tall gentleman was very kind and shared prep ideas to handle the gamy taste with me. I usually use milk for catfish. Did great with the Rainbow Trout and kept some of its natural flavor. Turned the dirty milk into white sauce and made us Rainbow Trout Tacos. Never had Rainbow Trout, will buy again. I enjoyed my visit but i didn't buy a lot of meat. Could be related to the trade issues or farms are dealing with higher feed n care prices. They were a tad too high for my taste. Beef Meat portions depending on cut were smaller than where i go but at a higher quality than what i get. If you can afford it? Go for it, big beautiful red bloody meat. Almost non of it had pink. Chicken was high also, but looks superb. Pork and lamb same thing. Weirdly? The whole Brisket? Is in the 40$50$ thats great for the cut size also. I love making my own Corn beef and Pastrami. Its so worth it! You can freeze or can end products. make some banging samishes in a pinch. On way out the bagger found us in the parking lot and helped us with putting our groceries away. Just many beautiful interaction at Publix. Will definitely come back for produce.

I have to say I thoroughly love Publix, they have the best employees and selection of fruits and…read morevegetables. The only thing I need is a raise in my income to afford to go grocery shopping here these days. I am a BOGO shopper for sure! Also I love there bakery as well.
