I'll start with me passing the road test today!…read more I have anxiety and I finally got the guts to sign up for driving 12 lessons with Marc. 'Lawd I passed the test!' The instructor is very patient and understanding. He will not at any circumstances will let you freak out. With His soft spoken voice puts me at ease during my lessons, and guide you in the correct way / form of turning the wheels. cause sometimes I let my anxiety gets to me and kicks in. Lol But while I'm driving with Marc and under his supervisions, I was able to over come my fear, and drive safely on the road. I'll admit , I've made many mistakes while driving lessons. Not once did he ever raised his voice at me. But guide me in a calmly matter. But seriously though, I thought my anxiety would take over me today. But with the last lesson today with Marc.... man.... I EFFING PASSED!!!!!! sorry, I am still excited. (I did breathe mad heavy though, because I was really nervous. ) Trust me! If you need a professional driving instructor that would not scream at you for mistakes. These guys will teach you by the books! Ya won't regret it.

I was looking for Adult Driving Lessons and this place SCAMMED me…read more Maybe it's different for kids looking to take driving lessons but I doubt it because I was in the car when they tried to convince a parent to have their daughter take lessons with another auto school that both the parent AND the instructor I was with seemed very aware was run by someone who on multiple occasions was accused of inappropriate physical contact, something I was able to confirm myself very easily with google. I signed up for a 10 hour lesson program, which was not inexpensive, after being advertised that the scheduling would be able to be done at my discretion, that was never the case. The duration and timing of the lessons was always changing. During these lessons they taught me nothing besides the specific criteria for the driving test: cruising around, backing up, parallel parking, and that was it. No attempts to build confidence, no attempts to go out into the highway, and sometimes the instructor even had his hand on the steering wheel the entire lesson. After my 10 hours we were supposed to assess my progress together before continuing, I even had plans to take the driving test without their sponsorship (because they operate their tests out of a completely different town and DMV from where they teach) but instead they scheduled me for the test WITHOUT my consent and then wanted to charge me MORE MONEY to take it with them after misleading me that this was all part of the package I had already paid for. After failing the test they offered no additional feedback besides saying I was "nervous" and have never attempted contact again. Very dissatisfied with the lessons that I was given and very dissatisfied with the lack of communication surrounding the entire process. I hope it's different for younger learners but I somehow doubt that very much. But if you are an adult looking for driving lessons you'd be better off looking elsewhere. I feel they just took my money for everything and gave me nothing. Total Scam.

My daughter went there 4 years back with no problems, this time around my son took his classroom portion of the driving school on Feb. vacation only because the instructor did not provide the proof that we had taken the parent class for my daughter. We stuck it out, yesterday March 15th, we receive a message from the instructor with a driving schedule for the end of April. We had been reaching out to the instructor to include him in the schedule as soon as he finished the class in February. Now because of the "Pandemic" he's saying this is the best they can do. There was no "Pandemic" in February when he finished the class! Also, I requested a written certification as proof he finished the class, he refuses saying it can be found online. Other driving schools say they need this to request a transfer from the driving school. Now we are kind of stuck. Lesson learned, "You get what you pay for". Do not waste your money!! you'll pay for it later.

I'm not trying to criticize his technique as a whole, but I do want others to have a clear sense of what to expect. Booking a session was quick and easy, and I was able to get an appointment the very next day, which I really appreciated. I understand that driving instructors sometimes need to be curt and direct for safety reasons. However, I think the type of feedback also needs to match the situation and the student's experience level. For me, the lesson felt like an hour of being yelled at. I was constantly aware that I was doing something wrong, but not always what I had done wrong or how to fix it. My impression was that Lucien overestimated my prior driving experience. This could likely have been resolved by taking a few moments to pause, talk through what we were about to do, and ask whether I had done it before. When I asked questions, Lucien was willing to demonstrate, but many of his instructions weren't clear to me, and his tone made me feel as though I was being scolded, even if that wasn't his intention. If I made the same mistake multiple times, that suggested I didn't understand something, not that I wasn't trying. Instead, he seemed frustrated that I didn't get it immediately and would tell me I was doing it wrong without giving concrete, descriptive feedback about how to correct it. For example, when I was practicing turning, he would yell that I was doing it wrong and grab the wheel, which didn't help me understand what I needed to change. It would have been far more helpful to pull over, explain the steps clearly, and then practice on a quiet street where I could try again safely and independently. There were also times when I misunderstood his instructions (for instance, going into the leftmost lane instead of going to the leftmost lane that eventually turns right). His immediate response was to yell that I hadn't listened, rather than clarify what I had misunderstood. This approach felt infantilizing and made me upset and distracted, which wasn't conducive to learning. Pedagogically, it also didn't make much sense to me. I wasn't paying $70 an hour to ignore instructions; if I wasn't following them correctly, it meant something about the instructions wasn't clear. A more helpful response would have been to ask what part I had misunderstood and adjust the explanation so I could succeed next time. Overall, Lucien may be a good fit for students who thrive under very direct and high-pressure instruction, are very good at articulating the specific skills that they already have and are hoping to gain, and are better at interpreting his feedback. For others, his style may be stressful and difficult to learn from.

I felt extremely comfortable during the practices. Rick reassured me that my driving skills were good, but needed practice, and my overall attention to the road was great. The next three lessons was with the owner, Rich, and it couldn't have been more different my first road lesson with Rick. At first I thought it would be phenomenal and not so intense, I had already done over 10 lessons with a different driving school, and was comfortable on the road. However, when I was with Rich after he observed my driving skills that I learned he'd tell me that everything I learned was incorrect. But I was reluctant to continue with Rich with an open mind to a different way of driving. Another thing I disliked, was the fact that my grip on the steering wheel was incorrect to him, Rich wanted me to have a narrower grip on the wheel where my hands would be closer together, and when steering my hands would practically be right on top of each other to avoid oversteering. Thing is, I am a tall skinny guy with long lanky arms, I cannot physically fucking grip the wheel with such a narrow grip 1- physically its uncomfortable for me 2- turning didnt feel natural nor right at all, but even if i tried to go back to how I learned from Tanner City, Rich would just continue to tell me that it was wrong. Not only that, but everything I was doing despite having already been on the road, before was always wrong, despite other instructors telling me that I was doing well. Even when I would be doing a maneuver that was correct and that I learned from previous instructors, he'd yank the steering wheel in the middle of traffic and continue to just be condescending. That was the most anxiety inducing experience(s) I've had, not even the amount of fast oncoming traffic was anxiety inducing just the sheer uncalled intervention of grabbing the wheel was unneeded in the situation. Wouldn't even allow me to even go through with how I learned to parallel park. When it came to turns, I understand there's a sense of urgency, but Rich was impatient even when there wasn't any threats around us that needed defensive driving. The importance of defensive driving is vital in teaching new drivers, but Rich was not the best confidence builder when being on the road, but eventually it came to me, overtime when working with Rich. I genuinely believe if I kept at least some of my old driving habits that I learned at the driving school I was at prior I wouldn't have been so nervous and uncomfortable during the exam. However I did I make mistakes on the road test that I take full accountability for. Rick -thank you again for your advice and lessons during my first lesson, and making the experience great. Rich - I appreciate your straight forwardness when driving, and the time you spent to help me drive better, especially when turning, but I really think you need to reevaluate your style of teaching because it is VERY ANXIETY INDUCING and it does not help people like myself pursuing the road test. Also I really wish you showed me the testing area sooner so I could have practiced on my own time there and was clearer about the right of ways at the intersection on market street. Other than that, everything else was good, I enjoyed the conversations we had. In sum, NSDS isn't a bad driving school, in fact it was OK, while my experience was very unorthodox and this review may come off as the total contrary. I look at it as a learning experience for myself, while building confidence took a little longer when working with Rich, I don't regret doing lessons with Rich. I also see it as an opportunity for Rich to improve his style of teaching (that is if he sees this review). Other than, thank you Rich for the time you spent with me on the road.

I had done my research and this was clearly the most affordable driving school in my area by far and I appreciated that they offered a payment plan. (You can choose to pay in 3 installments.) You can theoretically have your kid attend all the classes, but will not be able to schedule the driving lessons until you've paid in full. They had a parent class that you have to attend (by law) and the lady who ran the class seemed really nice. They spelled everything out pretty well, as far as classroom rules and state requirements. The driving instructors arrived on time for every lesson. The one critique I have is that I'd ask my son how his driving lessons went and almost every instructor had him driving to the same location (Lynn Beach). I wish they had a better lesson plan for the driving portion and maybe would've exposed him to Route 1 and more parking -- which unfortunately still seems to be a weak spot for him. Overall, I was glad with the pricing and the availability of lessons, as we were able to complete the entire driver's education in less than 3 weeks. You can choose to spread out the driving lessons.
