Anyway, the station is fairly typical of an Underground Station, meaning that the trains do seem to pass through here on a reasonably regular basis. Yeah, it wasn't bad to be honest with you, and there are some interesting places located around the station.

The station is extremely deep with a very long escalator from the ticket hall down to the platform level. The usual ticket barricades and Oyster readers are there, with a staffed ticket booth. The station is in Travelcard Zone 1, between Old Street and Kings Cross on the Bank branch of the Northern Line. The southbound platform is extremely wide and dates back to when there was only a central island between the northbound and southbound lines. I wish more stations were like this - I hate having to walk around the muppets and be right at the edge of the platform!

Well, not quite, but at least north of the Thames they are. Yeah, this station was pretty handy, and was also quite nice. I do certainly love delving down into the depths of these places, and just experiencing the joy of being in a metro station that is over 100 years old, but still working as it should.

You'd think that such a small station would be on the list to be upgraded for more capacity but…read more.. it's not. Russell Square gets insane during the (weekday) (and weekend) rush hours because it's very close to several major office buildings and the massive British Museum. The station is in Travelcard Zone 1 on the Piccadilly Line, between King's Cross St Pancras and Holborn. Another station that has lifts, but it is not step free between the street level and platform level. It's worth noting that even though there are stairs (no escalators), there is a warning sign suggesting that you really should reconsider and take the lift. 175 stairs is a goodly number and unless you've completed your training for the London Marathon or an Ironman, you probably won't survive. If the lifts are out of order, get back on the train to the next station because it's less than a half mile walk. At street level, Russell Square is a Leslie Green designed structure that is a listed building.

Firstly, it took the firm 3 months to send me an invoice and I repeatedly phoned the firm to send over an invoice for the deposit. They promised us the vehicle would arrive 15mins early from the scheduled timed at the pick-up location and unfortunately it was an hour late due to a punctured tyre. However, when the car arrived at the house it wasn't cleaned externally and the ribbon wasn't placed from the car when it arrived to pick up the bride and the driver made the excuse "The ribbon had fallen under the car whilst the tyre was being replaced" which is a rather odd excuse to make. We were promised the car would arrive 15mins before the scheduled pick up time and the car would arrive with a ribbon. Unfortunately, neither of these 2 things happened and the entire party was delayed by 1 hour. When the vehicle arrived at the venue all four tyres looked to be in good condition and it didn't look like the punctured tyre had been replaced. Considering the tyres of this vehicle are huge and it seemed the driver was unpunctual for his shift. From an automotive engineering background who runs an automotive mechanics garage those tyres on the vehicle didn't look to be replaced because all four tyres were in mint condition and not a single tyre looked dirty considering most spare tyres are. I relied heavily on the driver for being punctual but unfortunately the driver delayed us for obvious reasons by leaving late and picking up the bride over an hour late and delaying the guests waiting time. Very disappointing experience!

An odd station with no buildings at street level, it is accessed first by stairs (which were helpfully covered on this particularly rainy day) to the ticketing level and then escalators down to the platform level. Warwick Avenue is a part of London called "Little Venice" so of course there is a waterbus service that runs from nearby to the London Zoo and Camden Lock. Note that there is a Boris bike stand just across the street.

Now you've Maida me want to write this review so here it is…read more It was always a little bit hard to get down to Maida Vale for me and always a little bit romantic because it was so close to Paddington Station, and I used to wander these streets looking for places to buy sexy videos, especially one night when I was 12 or 13 years old. Lots of great memories although not the most heart and soul filled neighbuorhood to any degree, but also has some great attractions nearby which is impossible not to love. And it's gorgeous... one of the prettiest.

Awful customer service. Booked a taxi and was told it would be there in 15 minutes. We were left…read morestanding in the freezing cold for another 25 minutes. No contact from the company to update us. Only after 15 do they decide to send a taxi that isn't stuck in traffic. Rang up to complain and got called 'mate' repeatedly, despite having asked them to call me 'sir', since I was making a formal complaint! Wouldn't pass me on to a manager. Eventually get a text addressing me with the wrong name ('Helen' rather than 'Callum'...) saying 'your car is just around the corner' but still had to wait. Driver wouldn't set off until we'd paid the fare in full in advance, which no one in the right mind would do. They threatened to call the police when we refused, so we got out of the taxi, still not having moved an inch, and hailed a black cab. Cost us twice the price, but at least it was service with a smile.
