They are gentle as can be with eyebrow waxing, and always get my bangs just right. I had both Denyse and Michaela to cut and color my hair and I recommend both! I can't speak for the other stylists (yet?) but their clients always leave with a smile on their face. This place was recommended to me by my fellow coworkers in the area, and I uphold this recommendation.

Not only does she offer amazing hair styles and hair colors, but she nails the outcome. I have never been disappointed or underwhelmed. I am constantly getting compliments on my newest hairstyle, and usually still getting compliments up until the day I go to see her again! To say she is friendly and kind is an understatement. Currently, they are moving to their new location at 130 Pitt street, and I had the opportunity to take my daughter there because she won a contest to have her hair and makeup done for her prom. The setting looks very promising, with sleek, new furniture, sliding mirrors along either side of the establishment, and a nice trendy brick interior (just like a loft, except on the ground floor.) Bathrooms were good, floor space is large and airy, and there will be a lot of stations, which means more ability to get an appointment in. They did a great job on my daughter's hair, which is very very long, curly, and thick. They essentially did a blowout, followed by a coiled curl hairdo, which was then put into a half-up, half-down formal style. It was feminine and in style, and it held very well -- from early morning, when it was done, until the middle of the night, when she came home. The makeup job was great as well, done by a woman who has MAC training and experience. My daughter is a woman of color, and a good measure of a makeup artist is whether or not they can match foundation skintones to people who aren't white or who have unusual undertones. She hand-mixed foundations and ended up with a perfect match. It's the little things like this which can really make or break a makeup artist. I recommend this place. The staff was very personable and skilled, and the place is going to end up very nice once all the construction is finished.

I had a very disappointing experience and would strongly caution against booking this salon…read more I reached out on December 2nd to book a hair styling appointment for December 13th at 12:30 PM for a 3 PM wedding. Sarah handled the call and emphasized that I needed to "actually show up," as she would be coming in specifically for this appointment. While that comment felt odd, I agreed because I really needed reliable styling for a wedding. After the call, I sent a follow up text to confirm the appointment, which she confirmed. The day before the appointment, while already traveling to the area, I sent a courtesy text asking whether a wash was included. Only then did she respond with, "So glad you texted me," and informed me she could no longer do the appointment at 12:30 PM and instead asked to move it to 9 AM. That was not possible for me, as I already had another appointment at that time. This change was communicated less than 24 hours before the appointment, and only because I proactively reached out. After I explained that I could not move the time and that this was for a wedding, I received no response at all. By that point, all other salons and stylists in the area were fully booked, leaving me in an extremely stressful position. I understand that things come up, but for event services, especially weddings, clear communication, reliability, and follow through are essential. The lack of advance notice and complete lack of follow-up made this experience incredibly frustrating. I would not recommend booking if you need dependability.

When I needed questions answered she was barely responsive. I would have to text multiple times to get the simplest answer (e.g What time do you need to start? Can you recommend extensions? Standard questions. I'm still waiting to hear back about extensions, btw,) but I digress. In planning a wedding, you have to pick your battles, so I gave her a pass for being non responsive. I gave her a pass when she was 30 minutes late. I gave her a pass when she forgot tools she promised to bring. I even gave her a pass when she charged me $100 MORE to clip in a few extensions. (The irony being how many times I asked about extensions & how that would've been a great opportunity for her to say she would charge me an additional $100 on top of the already $125 to clip in a few extensions...Especially when my hair was down and took her less time than anyone else's hair,) yet, this gross lack of transparency is not even the reason for this review. THIS is why I would never ever recommend her. First, my hair looked NOTHING like the picture I showed her. Not even close. It was over sprayed, matted down, & the curl was coming out within MINUTES. When I got my dress on, looked in the mirror & saw how half of my hair was straight & half was curled, she had already left. She couldn't even wait until my dress was on. She had JUST finished. My bridesmaids & photographer were texting & calling her over & over to come back. She had to still be close. They called from their phones, from my phone. Didn't matter. She never responded. I'M STILL WAITING on that response. My Wedding was in September. It's December. I assumed I'd hear something. An excuse, an apology, an offer for a refund. Something. Anything. I've gotten nothing. The worst part is, since we all had to run around & try to find a way to fix my hair we were so late that pictures had to be bumped to cocktail hour which I had promised our whole party we wouldn't miss. On top of that, no one could fix what she did so my hair looks horrible in all my wedding photos. So, she botched my hair, caused me a ton of anxiety, & screwed up a timeline I had nailed down for a year, all because she didn't give a sh*t about me on my wedding day. So, here's me not giving a sh*t that this review will effect her business. Brides. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. She's unresponsive, shady, lacks talent, and morals. First off, I only came in for a bang trim, but I have a lot of experience in customer service and…read morethe styling industry. I exclusively get my hair cut in Buffalo at Tonic Hair Salon, but I was in need of a bang trim and decided I would trust a professional, instead of doing it myself. Big mistake. Once I arrived, there was no friendly greeting, just a sign in, and my hair stylist whom I was not sure if she worked the desk or was my hair stylist told me to follow her. So, I guess she was my stylist. She never introduced herself, or asked me anything about myself. She seemed very young and inexperienced. I showed her a reference photo of how I wanted my bangs (asymmetrical) and she said she understood. If she hadn't, I would have gotten something else. She didn't ask me which way I wanted my bangs or how I part my hair so when she started working from the wrong side, I had to correct her. Not a big deal, but you should ask if you want sides-wept or asymetrical. I have cowlicks and I doubt she even noticed, which is something you need to take into consideration. She started cutting and did it all wrong because she assumed I wanted what she had (looked nothing like the picture). I even showed her multiple pictures of the same model so she could see the bang cut and styled in different ways from different angles. She called over another stylist. At this time, the other stylist wanted her razor and still did not do what I wanted. She actually started to pull other sections from my hair to cut them without consulting me. I had to say to her "You're not planning on cutting that, right?" and she said it should be part of my bangs. I told her not to. I didn't want my hair to be even more messed up and I trust my old stylist enough to know that those very long pieces (I have long hair) should not be part of my bangs. She finished the cut, walked away and the first stylist straightened them and asked me if they were ok. Honestly, they weren't. When I looked at them in my car I saw they were super choppy in a not intentional way. She cut off too much in one section. And she did no layering or point cutting to soften it or make them fuller. It was honestly just like my dad did when I was a child and he is by no means a stylist. I ended up stopping at Wal-Mart and picked up some sheers so I could fix it. It's still not perfect, but it's better than it was. I have learned to just wait to go to my trusted stylist. Also, in terms of atmosphere, the place was nearly dead on a Saturday mid-day. There were only two stylists working. There was a fly that kept trying to land on the coffee that I brought and I kept shooing it away. Not once did either of the stylists apologize about the bug or try to get it away from my coffee. I know I have high standards, but I think everyone should hold themselves to high standards. In an area like this, with very little competition some businesses don't try and do not keep up with industry trends. If you can't even do a bang trim, you shouldn't be a stylist.
