Please note that I have been regularly getting my lashes done for the last 4 years. I've recently moved to the Kits area so I was in search for a new technician. I have never had such an uncomfortable experience in all these years. The process was very uncomfortable and painful to the point where I even considered stopping the appointment. My eyelids were taped uncomfortably too high at the corners. The tape was pulling on my eyelids so hard that my eyes were pulled slightly open and the bright light was blinding me. I managed to wiggle my eyes out of the grip that I could keep my eyes 100% closed. My top eyelids felt too exposed and the glue was stinging me. Throughout the appointment, her hand kept resting on my forehead or nose which made it very uncomfortable and unprofessional as well. I was also disappointed with my initial consultation prior to beginning the appointment. I communicated that I wanted full, dramatic long lashes. There was one lash left from my previous set (done by a different technician) and she told me that the lash was too heavy for my natural lashes and that she wanted to preserve my natural ones. Fair enough, however I am fully aware of what I'm signing up for and the risks involved. I wanted something dramatic since I was leaving for a beach vacation the very next day and didn't want to put on any other extra makeup during this time. However, after some more back and forth, she insisted that we go a more natural look so I eventually agreed. Once the appointment was finished and I went home to have a good look, I was very disappointed since it did not have the dramatic look that I was hoping for. For a natural look, the lashes and texturing turned out nice. Unfortunately, it just wasn't what I wanted. Unfortunately, I will not be returning due to the uncomfortable procedure and unwillingness to cater to the client. In hindsight, I'm upset at myself for not directly speaking up or giving constructive criticism during my appointment. Live and learn.

When I went in for permanent eyebrows Shauna seemed short tempered to me. I've never had a tattoo…read moreso I'm not familiar with the process, which she did not explain to me at all. I had done my research online about permanent eyebrows and decided on Shauna after all the positive reviews. It bothered me are that she did not explain to me that 2 sessions are needed to test how the color you choose will look on your skin once the tattoo heals and the scabs fall off (BTW the pictures she posts on her website are taken right after she's done with the tattoo, the color and shape changes a lot after it's healed and scabs fall off). After showing her a picture of what I wanted my eyebrows to look like she dismissed it and drew something completely different on my face simply because she doesn't like the actress in the picture I showed her. This made it harder to achieve the look I wanted and after the first session my brows didn't look like what we had agreed on. I ended up with big gaps between strokes and had to continue filling in my eyebrows with a pencil because the color was too light. On the second session I explained to her what I did not like about the eyebrows and after going back and forth I finally ended up with the color I wanted and the shape I wanted. I was expecting that after the first session and seeing how the color reacted on my skin she would know what color to use to achieve what I had asked her for, but she didn't. I had to choose the color for myself. During this second session she was very short with me, didn't apply enough freezing so I had to endure the pain, to which she said "sorry, you just have to suck it up". Yes, she is very clean and has many certifications, there's no question about that, but after my experience with her I will keep looking for other alternatives when the time comes to redo my brows. It's also $300 every time you need a touch up. I have a friend that goes to an Asian salon that charges a fraction of that and her eyebrows look very good too - but they don't speak English there, that's why I went with Shauna.

After reviewing her work, I was confident that leaving it in her capable hands, I will be leaving with the brows I've always wanted. Prior to seeing Shauna, I did have my brows done a few years back which left me with some discolouration due to the colour fading over time, so I needed to go back a few times to correct this. Both times Shauna took her time, care and attention to giving me the perfect brows (that don't just vanish in hot weather or after the gym!). The process was literally painless, since she numbs the area before doing anything with the needle. Also beyond my expectations, Shauna gave me a follow up call a week after each session to ensure the healing process has gone smoothly! I mean who does that? My dentist surely doesn't....neither have any of my previous tattoo artists. To my utmost surprise....this was by far the most superior service I've ever received! It's clear that Shauna not only cares about her work but about her clients - ensuring that they are satisfied with her work. I've had so many compliments on my brows since then and no one believes they've been inked. They are so natural - I absolutely love them (unlike those deep and dark straight lines from other places). The price may be a little higher than most, but it's a tattoo - and the quality of work and her attentiveness to her clients is surely worth the price. I've seen some pretty poorly done permanent makeup procedures (I was one a few years ago!) and saving some money, just isn't worth messing up your face. Hands down! I would recommend BeautyInk to anyone in a heartbeat...no reservations.

And I am THRILLED that she now has her own place! I love Marie's sense of colour. She works with me, based on the time of year, to pick a good base colour (from red to copper). Her highlight work is great and she's recently put in a bright blue streak that I'm delighted with. I also like how she cuts my hair. She's one of the few stylists who have actually listened to me when I said "Seriously, don't give me a style that requires a lot of work - I pretty much just blowdry my hair upside down, run a brush through it, and I'm done." She cuts my hair in such a way that it looks great if I'm just out of the shower, but if I want to glam-up for an evening out, I can do a little stylin' and it comes to life. Great stuff! I totally recommend her or any of the folks in her salon. She has a great mix of guys and gals doing different styles and cuts.
