Today I had my eye test. ( 21.06. 2019 11am) I was very…read morenervous, emotional and could hardly speak when the optician took me into the office to begin the test. The optician was not aware of the anxiety that I was experiencing. She was patient, kind and spoke very clearly. Her direction was structured, informative and she delivered her direction with respectful tones to her voice and to the way she presented her direction. I very soon felt at ease, at the end of the examination, I was relaxed and felt listened to. I gave myself permission to ask the questions that I had been worried about. My main concern was that I was beginning to go blind. The optician explained to me in detail, the function of my eye muscles and reassured me I was not going blind. I then was able to ask more questions. The optician recognised the importance to my questions and facilitated my enquiries further by, showing my some contact lenses and once again explained to me how they work and the recommend amount of time one should wear the lenses for . It was the first time my life that i had ever seen such dainty little things, she explained in detail their functionality, once again my fears of contact lenses had gone, so much so, that I have now booked an appointment to try them out next week, as well as having prescription lens glasses. On reflection, I have one regret.... It was remiss of me to ask the Optician for her name. I would have preferred to thank her in person. So, I'm hoping if you are reading this review, I want you to know that I appreciate everything you did for me today. I was already upset and nervous before I came into the store, as I had booked what I thought, was an appointment with optical express, but to my horror, I had booked Vison Express. I quickly phoned my Daughter wop encouraged me to come inside the store. I'm so glad I did. Thank you so much. I shall be telling all my friends to come to the store and ask for the delightful intelligent well-mannered optician. I feel so much lighter in myself because I now know I'm not going blind. Thank you. Kind Regards.. Pina Brown.

I had laser eye surgery with Mr. Khalid Ikram in January 2013. It has ruined my life. I was not…read moreinformed of many of the permanent complications I now live with. As a result of the laser eye surgery, I now suffer from recurrent corneal erosions, which is like being stabbed in the eye with a needle when you wake up. My eyes are so dry that I have to wake up every few hours to put eye drops in. This has meant that I have not had a good nights sleep in the last 5.5 years, as I am always afraid that I will have an erosion. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS. I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE SURGERY IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS RISK. As a result of the laser surgery, I now have permanent corneal neuropathic pain. This pain is unrelenting and there is no known treatment or cure. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS. I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE SURGERY IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS RISK. I also now suffer with glare during the day time when looking at sources of light, such as a TV screen or a computer monitor. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS. I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE SURGERY IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS RISK. My life has been ruined. I found 6,100+ people on Facebook on a group called LASIK COMPLCATIONS FACEBOOK GROUP who also suffer from symptoms similar to mine. Some people on there are relatives of people who have committed suicide. Even people who think they have had a positive outcome from laser eye surgery, actually have weakened corneas. The tensile strength of the eye is reduced to 2% of the main surface area. They can have corneal ectasia, a devastating complication, many years later. The LASIK flap can be dislodged by being poked in the eye by a child. Mr. Ikram never told me any of this. I am very disappointed that Mr. Ikram did not discuss these potential complications with me. I also asked Mr. Ikram where my complications would be recorded, so that future patients can fin out about how often these complications would occur. I was told that they would only be logged in my patient record. SO HOW ON EARTH ARE OTHER PATIENTS EVER GOING TO KNOW ABOUT THE RISK AND RATES OF THESE COMPLICATIONS THAT YOU FAILED TO TELL ME ABOUT? These complications made my life as a pharmacist unbearable, and I had to give up this job as my career and retrain in something else. My story was also featured in the Daily Mail. It can be found by googling 'Sohaib Ashraf Daily Mail' and the article is called "Thinking of laser eye surgery? Yes, it could transform your life, but for some the results can be devastating -- and leave you with bitter regrets" Have laser eye surgery at your own risk.
