We were visiting South Padre Island and my friend mentioned that this bar in Brownsville had been nominated for a James Beard award. We just had to check it out. We drove by during the day and the area did look a bit sketch...but we still went back the next night to try it out. We are so glad we did. They had fun themes with the drinks and a cool vibe. I have been to Barcelona, so I Loved the Las Ramblas theme and historical theme. Our lady bartender (darn, what was her name? She was so nice) was great. She came up with a special drink for my friend based on what my friend likes. I tried one of the specialty drinks. And the prices were great. Don't miss out. Cool place to visit and although they may still be improving the area, the clientele was definitely a good crowd and nothing scary about the location. The Drinks are Excellent, generous portions and great prices. This was an elevated cocktail experience and it was a pleasure seeing the bar tenders demonstrating the true craft of specialty bar tending. This das not a quick mix of cheap ingredients thrown in a glass. These gents had fresh fruits, herbs, dried fruit, fancy mixers and talent behind these drinks. The menu is refined and sophisticated and I loved teeing through the mixology choices. We hard the penicillin and the bodes de sangre, drinks I probably could not replicate at home which made me feel like I was enjoying a quality cocktail. The penicillin really does smell like Campho-Phenique or medicine but it's delicious if you like ginger flavor. This spot was recommended by the restaurant we dined which shows team spirit amongst business owners in the area. Loved this spot and we would come back if we never came back to Brownsville. This is not a negative for me but it's place is very dark and dim. If that bothers you then you may want to check out the library bar close by. read more

Nice ambiance, way better than all the copy/paste establishments in North Brownsville. More on the quiet side, so you can actually come here and have a conversation with your party. Very wide variety of amazing drinks. You can find anything & everything here. Nice & attentive staff. The drinks range about $10 each, but are great quality & all it takes is 1 or 2 to get you feeling good, so that's great. No food served, but that's fine. You come here to talk & drink.. you can eat somewhere else before or after if u want. And thank God they use their A/C unlike many places in Brownsville. It was nice to stop here during Summer & feel nice & fresh. Highly recommended! read more

First time being to this place and considering the bars located around it, I wasn't aware of the type of craft drinks they served here. I placed my drink order and while I placed it the server scoffed when I asked for a lone star. Ok I shrugged that off. Next after placing the order he brought us our beers and said the drinks would be out shortly. After about ten minutes and watching the bartenders take care of their bar-top I approached the bar to ask what was taking our so long on our drinks. A simple question which if you were unaware of the types of drinks they made here you would ask. A little customer education before placing the drink order from the server would have been appropriate. I'm not sure they have been trained to properly engage with clientele that they don't fight either suited to be there or the don't personally know. After apologizing for just inquiring about our drinks the server proceeded to argue with me because I ASKED A SIMPLE QUESTION. As in saying "How dare you!" Lol. The audacity smh. I apologized for something that in the service industry is normal and the server is still being a pompous pretentious prick. Some kind of bar. Other than this the drink was good not great but good and the setting was ok. For future reference, again a little customer education can help the entire situation. I had high hopes for this place. I read about it in Eater, I believe the mixologist is nominated for an award, and was excited to try it during my visit to the area. I was disappointed on 2 fronts. First, and most annoyingly, the bartender who was working when I visited on 3/15 around 8:00 was so interested in talking with her friends that she seemed disinterested in serving me. She asked me what I wanted to drink and while I responded she literally laughed out loud at her friend's joke and completely missed my order. The same happened when I tried to open a tap, she literally stopped mid-service to talk with her friends. It was VERY rude. Second, I was not thrilled with the drink selection. I was hoping for more variety. I settled on the "tea shop" drink which was pretty delicious but I ended up just getting two of those rather than trying something else because nothing else appealed to me. On the plus side, the place had a good ambiance and the bartender that took my second order was much more pleasant. read more

I really enjoyed myself here while in town. This bar is located in downtown's market square. You don't even feel like you're in Brownsville. The drinks are good. I had a Moscow Mule and really liked it. I don't know what my friend had but it had a dried pineapple on it and she really enjoyed hers. Pricing is on the high side for Brownsville. Our waitress was nice and seemed very knowledgeable on the drink menu and with providing recommendations. It's kind of a small bar, not sure how it is when it's very busy but we went early and it was comfortable. I would return. read more

I've read about this place as having the only sommelier in the area. Being a retired fine wine consultant, I was excited about visiting here. We went early on a Saturday night. My husband and I were the only customers in there. This is basically a cocktail bar, but with a great selection.They have no wine list, and only one white wine, a Chardonnay. Disappointed, I ordered a cocktail as did my husband, which were fine. But as the only people in there, I was disappointed that the bartender chose to ignore us and only chit chat with the waitress. read more
