This was a lovely surprise for dinner last night in Greenville, OH. Typically, we go to El Rodeo but it was closed for a remodel so I didn't mind checking out a new-to-me spot. Las Marias is located in a strip mall, features a large interior space and small patio on the side. Once inside, you're quickly greeted to a booth or tabletops and the large space is ideal for bigger groups. The menu features a lot of classics like chimichangas, Chile relleños, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, etc. They also offer a full bar so margaritas along with a lot of other drinks are easy to acquire. Note that they have a lunchtime margarita special for only $3.25. Another special that might be of interest is $1 taco Tuesday. I ended up ordering the carnitas (which come with either rice or beans and a guacamole salad), guacamole for the table and one margarita. Had I known they were automatically going to make the margarita a jumbo, I would have skipped out on it. It was a bit too sweet for my side and ended up being $9. The carnitas fish was very tasty and I ended up with leftovers for the road. My only other note was that the salsa is on the sweeter/less spicy side which I know some folks like but I prefer a little more of a kick. I don't even know where to begin. Just go. Go and get the Molcajete. Maybe we're late to the Molcajete game, but I don't think so...I rarely see people ordering it. It was Amazing. Neither my husband or I get overly excited about restaurant meals because they tend to disappoint. Fajitas, monster burritos, enchiladas...they're usually good...THIS was extraordinary. My husband kept saying "This is the best thing I've ever had." He said every bite was different. He ordered it spicy and it had a rich, buttery liquid on the bottom of the molcajete that was to die for. He said the shrimp were perfect and had that pop that you want...well I don't want..seafood is scary...but most people want! You could easily split this, but I don't think I'd want to share. He had leftovers and he never has leftovers. So it could make several meals. Isaac, our waiter, was great too! For some reason I was in the mood for boring tacos because sometimes a boring Mexican restaurant taco hits the spot. These didn't. The shells were stale and more store bought feeling than I've ever had in a sit down Mexican joint, but oh well! Now we wonder if Molcajete is good everywhere or if Las Marias' version is just exceptional. Time and trial will tell! Great meal! read more

What a nice find for us! We drove about 45 minutes to Greenville one Saturday afternoon to go to one of their popular downtown restaurants, only to find it was closed for a private party. Ugh. Most of the other downtown restaurants happened to be closed as well, and with rain closing in we didn't want to walk around looking for a place that was open. So we hopped in the car and headed to Tolley's. On the way there, my husband said "Hey how about trying that Mexican place we saw out that way". So we stopped in Las Marias for the first time ever, and we had a really nice meal. This place is sooooo CLEAN, and the decor is super cute. Outside is a lovely patio and nice planters filled with beautiful flowering plants. The servers were all sweet & helpful. Service was very quick. Food was definitely on par with the several other good Mexican joints we frequent (it's my husband's favorite type of food). The sauces weren't overly spicy. There are several dishes on their menu that I haven't seen in others. He had chicken enchiladas, which were some of the best version of those I've tasted. The chicken was very flavorful, tender, chunks of breast meat. Finally, the restrooms were so clean, and I would actually describe the women's room as "pretty". Whoever did the interior design features did such a good job!! However, the crowning jewel of this place's restrooms was that they were designed with the comfort of the user in mind!! How rare it is to find a public bathroom where the stall doors open OUT, there is ample room to move around inside the stall, the toilet paper holder and napkin disposal aren't intruding into the toilet area or hovering around right next to one's face. And the purse hooks were designed to place your purse over the lock mechanism so you have to move your purse in order to open the door, which is a brilliant way to remind you to take your purse! We will definitely return, and definitely recommend Las Marias! read more

Their white queso is too spicy for me I like the other restaurant because it's very mild and I really like mild and they plus I asked the waitress if it was hot and she said no not hot I said not spicy hot she said no not hot spicy no it was hot spicy burnt my mouth I hate it I hate it I do love Mexican foods they are good but I don't like the heat I don't like the heat that's somebody else's idea of mixed Mexican food mine is like tacos and enchiladas and some of the other stir fry the beans and the rice I love it together all of that's good but keep that hot stuff off my food have a great day read more

Las Marias is amazing place to go to for a meal with friends, family, or date night. The atmosphere is awesome, upbeat, and has an awesome Mexican authentic playlist in the background. My friend and I came for a little break away from work. We arrived late on a rainy day, one hour before close. Although service was a drag, the food was absolutely outstanding. Makes the slow service not seem so bad. We had steak tacos, El Mar Trio that came with lobster, shrimp, tilapia, a cheese dip, and Maria's specialty dip. Drinks were large and delicious. Beware, beware, beware when you order. Make certain you check the order before paying or leaving. Fourth time in four months!! I was at work, had food delivered. Friend who brought order had no idea he was picking to much food or that they had over charged. I ordered a steak burrito. One large bag of tortilla chips. 2 pint size styrofoam containers of salsa When the order arrived: there was two bags of chips and three and half containers of salsa. We were over charged for the fourth time! Paid over $37.00 for lunch. Seriously yummy food. I first ate at Las Marias in the summer of 2015 when I moved to Greenville. I will say that compared to the other Mexican restaurant in town, El Camino Real, there are some minor contrasts. First overall I find that Las Marias tries to be a little fancier. The atmosphere is very nice and the waiters are always dressed professionally and have always been polite. The food here also seems to have a small price increase as well. With that in mind. Starting with the food, it's wonderful. I have not had a dish I do not like here. The chicken fajitas, steak burrito, rice, beans all of it has been good. One major advantage Las Marias has over its competition is the chips and salsa. While the chips are about the same, I find that the salsa has a little more flavor. Also they give you individual bowls! This is something that I gripe about with El Camino Real, see my review. The spicy sauce is also very good here. Its a dark orange color that's sweet and has a creeping heat. The one bad thing at Las Marias is the tea. I love sweet tea but what they serve here tastes like instant. So if you like to drink tea, consider ordering a different drink. While I do not dine here as much as the other Mexican offering in Greenville, I will continue to come back and I recommend giving it a try if you like Mexican food. read more

Traveling thru town and we decided to stop here based on reviews. This ended up being a run of the mill pseudo mexican restaurant. There is nothing authentic about the cuisine. The prices are on the high side with the average meal being $13-$20. The basic nachos were packaged chips with beans dolloped on top and melted cheese sauce drizzled over. For $6. Very wet. My husband ordered the lindos special. It was a lot of food. Not great but not bad. Again, on the bland side. The staff checked in w us only one time during our visit. When I told them the food wasnt very good it was met promptly with... Nothing I didn't eat the nachos and the waitress took it away to the kitchen. She still added it to my bill. read more

I've tried a few of the Mexican restaurants in this area of Ohio, and Las Marias is my hands down favorite. The salsa gets you started on a fresh, flavorful note. The service is not necessarily a memorable part of the experience, except to note that they were exceptionally fast. One very picky person in my group raved about the chili rellenos. The bite of tamale I had from my brother's plate was excellent. The highlight of the experience was my Burrito California. I have no words for how good that burrito was. Transcendent, rich, huge, would be the best I can come up with. The thing that set it apart was the steak. Steak in a burrito is often over cooked. This, however, was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Stayed one night on business at the Holiday Inn in Greenville. Closest restaurant was Las Marias, 0.2 miles across the street. When dining solo, I prefer to sit at the bar. Strike one - no bar. Sat in a booth facing a TV, but those high straight back seats were so damn uncomfortable. Pretty extensive menu, but the key takeaway is this Mexican restaurant is on the pricey side. Fajitas were $16.99. Went cheap and ordered a beer and the Enchiladas Supremas ($10.99). The food came out quick (so fast that you have to wonder how?) It was presented very nicely, and it tasted very good. On food alone, I'd give it a 4. If they had a bar, I would have given it a 4. But alas. read more

For starters, I'm here because the Gastropub around the block is foolish enough to be closed Sundays. During football season no less. Insane. So I find myself at a near empty, large restaurant which has no bar. Ugh. I just want to have a couple brews and a good road meal while watching some Week 2 football or meaningful baseball (Let's Go Mets). Service was attentive but difficult since my waiter couldn't understand I wanted Bleu Cheese (dressing) on my salad. Cheese seems to be so one-dimensional to Mexicans. Maybe the further a society is culturally from France... This place advertises itself as Authentic Mexican but I think it's more Authentic Chi-Chi's. Fortunately I was able to order an authentic Dos Equis. Unfortunately, I was able to order an authentic rib-eye steak. Lots of choices on the menu but not a lot of choices if you know what I mean. Maybe that's why I stay away from Mexican restaurants that look anything like a chain business model. Finally, I'm not sure what else is worthy in Greenville but next time I pass through, I'll probably be eating a big lunch. Or maybe the Gastropub will be open...if it's not Sunday. read more

When I first started coming to this place, I found it pretty good but everything just seemed so overwhelmingly cheesy! I mean, don't get me wrong, I seriously love cheese, but this was just off the scale and more than I could take. However, I'm an adventurous eater, so I like to try different things every time I go rather than stick with one or two favorites. By doing this, I've found quite a few things that I like very much. And when it comes to the staples - these are all reliably good. The housemade salsa is mild and tasty (I'd prefer more cilantro, but that's just me). The seasoned beef, if that's your thing, is really very nice and a great texture. The beef and chicken are good and clean (meaning, no fat or gristle). As I recall, the one item I had with pork was a bit fatty. I like the guacamole salad as an accompaniment to everything. Nothing here is really overwhelming or super spicy from my experimentations so far, but it's all pretty safely and reliably good. read more

We went Friday night Cinco de Mayo @7pm. It was Friday night busy, but not cinco de mayo busy. They didn't take names for the wait and just took people in whatever order they pleased. Took us to a dirty table and we stood there while they cleared and cleaned it. Wait 10 minutes for a server to greet us with stale chips and another 10 for just drinks. So already knew it was gonna be a long night. We ordered our food and food was alright. We never saw a server again. So no refills Or second drinks. I found to go boxes and the server laughed at me for getting them. Told him we wanted our checks... took another 15 minutes to have to ask for the check again. Then have to go and wait in line again to pay. This was the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant and I was once at a restaurant where they told us the chef cut off his finger and they couldn't find it. Only have a star because we had to.
