Went during the middle of lunch time. People were friendly. Food was good. Lady at the counter states corn tortillas are gluten free, we will be back as it is difficult to find gluten free dishes. Las Dos Marias - Mexican Near Me - Redding, California

This is the best Mexican food in Redding! I've looked for many mexican restaurants here, and haven't had much success. Other places always taste cheap and leaves you feeling heavy. Los Dos Marias seems lighter and fresher. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Their flavors have a freshness that other places don't have. For example, a typical "salad" on a burrito plate would only have lettuce, tomato and onion, but Los Dos Marias makes it much better with fresh cilantro and a chopped jalapeno, which adds some nice flavor notes. They even have a nice spicy habanero salsa! Most places don't have much heat, and I like the heat! Check this place out! read more

I had a very competent veggie burrito here while driving down from Seattle to the Bay Area. It was a quick, efficient food stop.

The burritos was a decent size. Got a carne one. Although for $7.85 for the burrito you can go to el delicioso and get the same kind of burrito for $6.99 and its double the size with the meat being less fatty. It needed a bit more spices and more meat. Plus side is sour cream and guac at no extra charge. I probably won't go back just because of the price. Very nice woman in drive through. read more

I had two tamales w/ rice and beans - quite satisfactory, that. The sauces and salsas are a bit on the unchiled side, but still flavorful. and one can always add Tapatio sauce. This was only 6.75. I found this little gem by accident - it's next door to the shoe repair store that I use! I always get the chicken tacos because they are SO good! The chicken is tender and the sauce is delicious! I have only had rice and beans and tacos. This isn't true and authentic Mexican but is very inexpensive, so i can't complain to much.

Went there for a late lunch on january 8 2015. We thought they had to be good because they were fairly busy. The three of us in our group all ordered different things and we were all very disappointed. The chips were stale but the salsa was pretty good. The meat was tough and fatty and lacking flavor. The beans and rice were almost inedible. The rice seemed like it had been sitting for hours with dry hard peices throughout. The beans were completely flavorless and very watery. The inside of the restaurant was uncomfortably warm for a january day. The only positive part of our experience was the owner. They were friendly and very attentive. read more

This is my new favorite Mexican place to eat in Redding! They make the best street tacos that I have found in town. I have had the Carnitas, Carne Asada, Shrimp, and Fish tacos. All are excellent! They don't skimp on the quality. The Carnitas and Carne Asada tacos both came with a dollop of guacamole and tomato on top of the usual meat, onion, and cilantro. It still tastes very much like a typical street taco, but just elevated a bit. It is a very welcome touch and does not at all take away from the authenticity of the tacos. The Fish tacos are a choice of tilapia or salmon. I had the tilapia and was happy to see it was not breaded fish. I hate when the fish in a taco is breaded and deep fried. The breading on a fish taco is the tortilla. I don't need extra breading on the fish itself or deep frying of my food. The shrimp is also not breaded. That is the authentic was to make fish and shrimp tacos. The chips are home made and very good. The salsa is very mild and even kids can eat it, however it is packed with great flavor! If you haven't tried it, you really must get there and you will understand what I am talking about. They also have a drive through and are located just off of the I-5 Freeway. read more

So after extensive research ( Yelp reviews) I decided to check out this local restaurant that had such divided reviews the old-fashioned way, by eating the food. The restaurant was easy to find, good parking, and helpful friendly and patient service. I scanned the menu and decided on chicken tacos, flautas, and chicken enchiladas. All came with rice and beans. For three meals it cost about $20.00 which I consider a value since there was plenty of food for left-overs. So all in all, the food was good, and I found the service excellent ( important to me) and the value was satisfying and I recommend you try it. I discussed the lack of spicy-ness with one of the Marias and she said she would include spicy sauce if I wanted. Also bulk tamales could be ordered as spicy as I wanted. We had a chicken burrito and a chicken chimichanga with chips and salsa. The restaurant is small and unassuming. We were greeted by smiling cashier behind the counter. The salsa tasted fresh and roasted. Very good. My burrito was simple however the chicken had a wonderful grilled flavor. The chimi was nicely proportioned, served with guac, sour cream, pico, rice and beans. Nice flavor with fresh ingredients. Worth a repeat when driving through town. read more
