In August of 2024 I was sold a subscription to a hearing aid - $4,000 - which is worn in the ear canal and discarded after the battery wears down, then a new aid is inserted. I have been using this type of hearing aid for over ten years from another provider. These are sold by a subscription. The technician told me he could mail them to me when needed another (I live over 100 miles away). He then said I would need to return to the office each time I needed one. The next time I needed one, I was told it would be two weeks until they came in, I wore an old hearing aid in one ear for this duration. When I went in the next time, he gave me four extras. All but one of them had been left in the "on" setting and the batteries were dead when I needed another. I decided to take my subscription to another more competent audiologist who was able to show me, on the hearing aid company website, that the subscription had never been refilled! Their invoice even showed a "warranty period", which doesn't exist for this disposable hearing aid. I reported the incident to company headquarters and received profuse apologies from them. I also reported it to the NM DOJ. I did get a full refund later. This was such a transparent attempt at fraud, I wondered how they still try to get by with it repeatedly. The technician had the bedside manner of a fence post and wasn't terribly bright, so I had initially written this off as just the flagrant incompetence of one individual, rather than the deliberate deception that it was. This person has been with this office for years. Upper management is either complicit or compliant.

I called for an appointment with this company after seeing a television commercial saying that the…read morecompany was looking for volunteers to test a new hearing aid, and that after testing it, the volunteers, if they so desired, could purchase the hearing aid for a nominal price. When I arrived at the appointment, I was given a hearing aid test, told that I was borderline deaf (which is definitely not true) and offered a hearing aid to purchase for around $5000, with the promise that my insurance would cover about half of the cost. There was no mention of a product test, or the option of buying the product at a nominal price afterwards. This looked like a classic "bait and switch" tactic to me. I will never consider buying a hearing aid from this company, after experiencing such a dishonest advertising gimmick.

Hear on Earth was the only one that replied, Debbie, and provided pricing if the devices had to be sent in for factory service. I visited their place, was greeted nicely, and the person took my aids and tried to fix them on spot. Debbie tried other fixes before recommending they be sent out for service. She didn't require immediate payment but I did that, anyway. She offered to apply the service cost to new aids should there be further problems. Bottom line: Nice people, Great service.

My absolute worst experience was with the audiologist affiliated with Dr. Pai's practice. She is clearly unhappy with her job; after she introduced herself as a doctor, I should have known that my evaluation was not going to go well. She was clearly very impressed with herself, I should have exited. Throughout my examination, she was rude and condescending, I have never been treated this way by anyone in the medical field. I have worked with audiologists in the past and found them to be friendly, happy people; this audiologist is a sorry excuse for a human being.

Budesonide is a inhalation suspension that is not covered by Part D, but is covered by Medicare Part B. My pharmacy (Albertsons in Ruidoso, NM) has sent paperwork to be filled out and approved by Dr. Byrd 4 to 5 times in the past 2 weeks. My pharmacy even called 1/29 to speak to the office directly. After calling the office 8 times myself and being told all sorts of things ie. We have not received the paperwork, the paperwork has been filled out and will be sent that particular day, to starting from square one. This medication is a inhalant steroid to help with my breathing as I have a constricted airway. I haven't been able to do this treatment for 2 weeks now, and I am having trouble breathing. What the heck is going on with this office?
