The facility itself is beautiful. It reminds me of a resort. The dining area is visible from the lobby and a birthday celebration for a 101 year old resident was going on when I arrived. The residents, who were in attendance, looked like they were happy to be here. I toured the entire property and two staged units. There were 3 levels in the assisted living units. I visited 2. There is also a memory care unit on a secured floor that I did not tour. This place is definitely a contender. for my loved one. I'm hopeful that the quality of care is as impressive as facility!

Beware. And do your due diligence before placing your loved one in this assisted living facility…read more There are a lot of bells and whistles, false promises about the care. My mother was in the assisted living area and she only lasted 3 weeks. The care she received was negligent. She had 1 bath during that time of the promised 1 bath a week and her medications were always late or forgotten and she was ill due to the negligence. Laundry was not washed and she was not checked on frequently as they proclaim. As her daughter this was very disturbing. I found I had to call several times a day just so she could receive her meals. If I was not present on a daily basis I am not sure what would have happened to her. My advise is to do your research, talk to the residents and family members. Two other families moved out prior to our move stating the same concerns.

An interim Executive Director arrives and does not seem to be the answer for providing the continuing support needed for the brand new complex. There are still things to be fixed that was not addressed before the opening for move- in. She is not transparent, makes pledges w/no intent to fulfill, prefers that staff not interact w/residents, & seems more likely to report better outcomes than accomplished that will speed her up the Harmony career ladder. Independent Living residences are very nice, but, how do they not have garbage disposals in the kitchen at the luxury prices required to live there. Why do they attempt to force residents to use an antiquated payment process and not an online mobile residents system that allows various forms of payments w/out excess penalties? Harmony Senior Services @ Bowie needs more than the one dedicated Manager w/experienced Management & Leadership skills. Sales pitch will get people in the door, the missing platform based on excellent client/resident-friendly service(s) will be the reason people will not renew to stay. The current staff who handles the daily routine areas should be acknowledged & respected. The current staff knows the importance of interaction with the people they are there to provide services to and beyond just the Assisted living program. Oh, maintenance staff is challenged to do routine maintenance and other services due to the lack of enough staff or the ability/authority to contract out to sources e.g. Angie's List, for supplemental support when necessary. Harmony@Enterprise, Bowie, is a new community with promise. It needs more time and a vetted experienced person as new Director, in my opinion, and based on conversations with people who reside. An experience resident-friendly person(s) that gets to know the property, internal and external, projects needed to still be done with a transparent timeline to ensure when it's all done right & timely.

I was referred to Harmony at Enterprise by an associate of the directors. I emailed the director,…read moreper the associate, to express my interest in touring the property but never received a response. After a week, I went to the website and scheduled an appointment for a Saturday at 12 p.m. No one contacted me to confirm, so that Saturday morning I called to follow up. The receptionist said she saw my name in the system and told me to come on in. I arrived seven minutes early and was greeted by the receptionist, who handed me a packet of information and asked me to sign in. I waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time before the receptionist came over to explain that the manager on duty had not come to work and could not be reached. I thanked her for letting me know and left, assuming perhaps there had been an emergency. When I returned home, I went back to their website and scheduled another tour for the following Friday at 11 a.m. I even took the day off from work, thinking a weekday might be better. However, once again, I received no confirmation call or email. Two hours before the appointment, I called to confirm, and the receptionist again told me she saw my name in the system and invited me to come in. We arrived five minutes early and were warmly greeted by a different receptionist. She asked me to sign in and have a seat to wait for the manager. She was very pleasant--offering freshly baked cookies to residents and guests--and provided excellent customer service throughout. After 15 minutes, she informed me that she still couldn't locate anyone available for the tour but would go upstairs to locate someone. When she returned, she said she was unable to find anyone. I told her how much I appreciated her professionalism and that she had already gone above and beyond her duties. I explained the situation to her in full, and she was sincerely apologetic. She asked for another 10 minutes to try to reach someone, but by 11:35 a.m. she was still unable to find anyone. At that point, I thanked her again for her kindness and asked her to relay a message to her supervisor: it is extremely unprofessional that no one from sales or management came out to greet me or honor the scheduled appointment--not once, but twice. I took time off work and drove an hour from White Marsh, only to have my time and my family's time wasted both times, at Harmony at Enterprise.

We had visited a few assisted living facilities and once we met the owners, Brian and Michelle, we just knew it was a good fit. We needed to feel comfortable knowing our mom would be well cared for and the owners and staff always gave us peace of mind. They always kept us up to date with any/all information regarding moms health and care. Brian and Michelle as well as the staff went above and beyond when it came to moms care. And I'm sure they did with all their residents. Their care comes from their heart and we could not thank them all enough. We love them all and you will not be disappointed if you chose to have your loved one stay at their facility. Stacy M.

I and the rest of my 91 year Mom's progeny are very grateful she decided to retire from New York…read more nearly ten years ago before Mom thought she was ready for a retirement community. She chose to buy into Collington Life Care Community http://www.collington.com/ [non-profit CCRC] in [Mitchellville/Bowie, Md] in suburban Washington, D.C. Right away Mom plunged into lots of activities, planted the garden around her gracious cottage, took exercise and literature classes from Prince Georges Community College, on Collington Campus, and made friends with other active retirees and the very caring staff. She didn't partake of birdwatching, vegetable gardening, swimming, nearby golf courses, and some other outdoor activities. She chose to take on leadership roles in the Collington community and delivered Meals on Wheels. http://keepingupwithcollington.org/ When she broke her hip she was received rigorous and effective rehab while temporarily resident in the health center. When we 'made her' give up her car she was able to get to the Metro, shopping, doctors' appointments, Kennedy Center, Arena Center, and more via the Collington shuttle. When she had a small stroke she again moved back to he health center to receive rigorous rehab. Now she is back in her cottage, this time with a few hours of aides to help keep up her activities. Now as we spend more time walking the halls and grounds with her it's so gratifying to encounter numerous friends among the residents and staff who cheer on her recovery. I wish such stimulating, safe, and nurturing communities would be accessible for the growing upcoming senior population.

She lived in a beautiful cottage where birdwatching, gardening, music, walking her dog and making new friends filled her days. Using Collington transportation she had season tickets for the opera, the symphony, Arena Theater as well as enjoying many other cultural events at Collington and beyond. My 3 siblings and I fell in love with Collington's embrace of our mother and willingness to allow us to fully participate in Mother's life. In many, many ways through the years it became obvious to us that Collington valued its residents and wanted to encourage family involvement. The fabulous Sunday brunches, instituted by the head of dining services, Eli Ayoub are one of many examples. On any given Sunday one sees dozens of families, including children, grandchildren, even great-grandchildren enjoying the brunch together, feeding ducks on the lake. In these past two years, after a nasty fall, our mother was confined to assisted living. The care she received on Chesapeake was always compassionate and respectful. We grew to love each and every one of her caregivers. Again, we were encouraged to be there as much as possible. When the final days arrived our large family did vigil for a week. Instead of encouraging us to limit our visits, Eli arranged for a large hospitality tray to be delivered outside

One of my parents is a resident now, and they have been in both the Assisted Living and (currently) the Cottage units (the latter being for memory care). First of all, I have to share my praise about the entire staff. I haven't met anyone there yet who didn't say hi or wasn't helpful. Everyone so far has been so wonderful to work with. They are understanding, helpful, engaging, and they seem to really care about their work. It makes a huge difference. The care provided appears to be top notch. I can't be around 24/7 of course, but the resident is doing very well physically, much more so than before arriving here. They even said the food is much better than they expected! The facility was very helpful in answering all of the questions I had, plus... many more that I didn't know I was going to ask! This whole process was all very new to me, and they understood this. They were patient with me and went out of their way to make us feel at home and at ease. So far, it's been a relief and a tremendously positive impact on our entire family.
