He was able to put it perfectly on paper, then Matt was able to take that information and make it a reality. We are so thankful to both of them.

Just Don't! Save Yourself the Headache…read more We finally moved into our new home built with Schumacher in Benson, and the experience has been a nightmare. Our initial meeting with Austin sold us on the company. He was professional, informative, and promised us a 3.8% military interest rate as long as we secured land, signed the contract, and paid the $3,000 deposit. We did all of that in November. Then in January, we were told our rate would be higher because our construction meeting "wasn't done in time." At our Dec. 17 design meeting, Alyssa, the customer coordinator, told us this Zoom meeting would happen before Dec. 6. After that meeting, she disappeared until Jan. 6 despite multiple emails. She also failed to mention she'd be out of office for weeks. Her lack of communication cost us the rate we were promised, and instead of fixing their mistake, they blamed the housing market--yet conveniently began offering the same rate again this November. Failure to Communicate & Planning Errors Our realtor met with the builder twice to finalize the home's placement, and everyone agreed. Yet the plans came back with the house in a completely different spot--the one we had specifically rejected. I emailed Billy several times and asked that communication be kept in one thread with him and Alyssa. That request was ignored, and I spent weeks chasing answers. Delays & Financial Surprises Our closing date was pushed back multiple times. While we understood initial delays for plans and permits, what blindsided us was being told our $7,000 at closing had jumped to $40,000. We had met every deadline, yet major financial changes were dropped without warning. We were told, "It'll be fine," or "It won't change your payment much," which was dismissive and unprofessional. Build Mistakes We included a special nook for our safe, with exact measurements. Plans showed it correctly, but the framing was only 26 inches wide instead of 30. After pointing it out, they opened it to 27 and insisted it was correct. Only when I escalated did they finally fix it. That kind of pushback on an obvious mistake was unacceptable. The Well Disaster We were told the existing well just needed minor repairs. Months later, the well team returned and said it had collapsed entirely, requiring a new one and a new permit. Worse, they dug the new well not behind the house as promised, but about 100 feet in front of it, right beside the septic--without informing us or getting approval. Closing Fiasco The day before closing, Natalie called to say we owed $7,000 in overages. Even she couldn't get the numbers to add up. We later learned these overages occurred because Schumacher never gave the builder updated allowance information after a change we made before construction. So he had been giving us wrong numbers the entire build. When I confronted Jonas, the branch manager, he asked, "Well, what do you want us to do?" I told him to absorb the cost, considering their earlier mistakes had already cost us thousands. They asked us to leave while they "worked on it," then called my husband (not me) and said they'd split the difference, charging us $3,500. He didn't want to argue, so we paid it. Move-In Issues We moved in Oct. 31 with no hot water. The builder told us to turn up the water heater; nothing happened. The breaker was flipped, but still no hot water for 48 hours until my husband found a switch inside the unit. For the next week, the breaker kept tripping. Then on Nov. 6, our dishwasher flooded the kitchen because it was broken. Water leaked under floors, the island, subflooring, and into the crawl space so badly the insulation looked like it was raining. I emailed Jonas again asking for our $3,500 back and expressing serious concerns. He replied vaguely and dismissively. I demanded his supervisor contact me. It's now Nov. 19 and no one has followed up. The Only Good Part The warranty technician, Luther, came quickly and handled the dishwasher and flooring. The builder, Billy, was kind and tried, but it's clear he wasn't given accurate information. Final Thoughts Our home is beautiful, but I know issues will surface. Based on what we experienced--gaslighting, broken promises, lack of communication, and avoidable mistakes. I would never recommend Schumacher. Their friendliness at the start disappears once you're locked in, and you're left fixing their errors on your own.

I called after your visit, but you didn't answer, so I left a vm and text. Later in April, I called you and you answered that time. I asked about the estimate. I reminded you that you said, "2 to 3 days (April 14) but it wasn't until April 24 that I got a concrete answer that you will not be doing the job. My contention isn't that you can't do the job, but that I wasn't given the courtesy to tell me that you weren't interested in providing the estimate nor would be able to do the job. If I hadn't called or inquired, I would never have gotten an answer at all. How could I give you a higher rating? You only came to look at the project. I can't grade you on quality, service or promptness because I have no reference point to go by. My review isn't harsh but simply stated as it happened. Danae seems to be the person who makes the decisions on which jobs to take. Maybe a conversation she be had with her if you don't want more reviews like mine.
