Kind of odd to be writing a review of a fire station but it's based on an annual event they have. Largo Fire Rescue has an annual open house at this fire station and it includes a Chili Cookoff and endless activities for children.
I attended with my wife and daughter in October 2016 and it was a great time. The food and drinks are free, as they're working for donations, so be sure to give. There were hot dogs, burgers, at least eight chili's in the contest, cakes, cookies ,drinks, etc.
For the kiddies, they had face painting, rescued animals (an owl, hawk, and a few others), rides in a ladder truck and engine truck, the life flight helicopter landed and took off later after everyone got to look around inside, a jaws of life demonstration where they ripped the entire side off a car and then started removing the roof, fire hose spraying and many more things I'm probably forgetting.
There was also a live DJ playing music and announcing when events were going to be occurring.
Great experience, donated were graciously accepted, fun all around. read more
