I was in town visiting, so I didn't have a place to be while I waited. The store was very clean and put together. I found it to be clean on the outside as well. Shoutout to whoever has the janitorial account, because yall are doing a great job! I found a simple snack in the produce section, but took a stroll to check out the Walmart as a whole (since I had the time to burn). There was plenty to do and a Philly Cheesesteak restaurant in the Walmart, as well as a nail salon and other things. The self checkout was pretty advanced and clean as well! I really have no complaints. I had a simple need and this Walmart did what I needed it to do.

I had previously asked if I could leave my basket near the register while I drove home to retrieve it, and an associate kindly said I could leave it there for about 20 minutes -- the time it would take for me to return home and back. As I walked back to my car, I checked for any cash and found only $10. When I returned to the store, I let the associate know that I would put back some of the frozen and cold items and would leave and come back later to complete my purchase. I recently moved to New Orleans and usually keep a credit card in my car specifically for Walmart trips, but not this time. That's when Floor Manager, Erin, stepped in... she overheard the conversation and said, "wait...we can figure this out so you don't have to leave and come back." I was both surprised and incredibly grateful. Erin asked if I knew my card number, and when I said yes, she guided me through downloading the Walmart app step-by-step -- all while multitasking and assisting other associates with their questions and assigning employees to registers for employee breaks. We encountered an error with the app, but instead of giving up, Erin continued troubleshooting with me. She asked smart, specific questions, and eventually identified the problem: my credit card still had my old address. Once we updated it to reflect my new New Orleans address, everything worked perfectly. Erin even took me to a separate register to test the card with a small transaction -- and it was successful! I returned to a regular register to complete my full grocery purchase, but I won't forget Erin's kindness and professionalism. Please know that you have a permanent customer in me, and I'll always be looking for Erin to say a quick "hi" during my visits. As a retired executive, I can confidently say that Erin's dedication, patience, and problem-solving attitude were nothing short of outstanding. Her willingness to go above and beyond left a lasting impression on me. Bottom line: Erin is a fantastic employee, and you are lucky to have her on your team.

Calmly she responded like everything is fine and was smoother than Italian gelato. Upon arrival it was a madhouse. When we saw Mr. Henry show up and start filling orders himself you could "feel the history being made in that place". I said "I'll wait right here patiently until next week if I have to"!, I said "they just have to pry my out of here like a modern day Rosa Parks. The poor girl working "the door" was calling numbers. Everyone was calm and professional. When I got called in the back Mr. Henry politely said "look, I can refill anything, but we have been SLAMMED with new orders. I said calmly and with respect "I completely understand where you are coming from. Then I asked if he was hiring"! and that I have experience a mile long. I had to take an Uber home and gave the driver a flyer if she was suffering. I mentioned to her the staffing shortages "across the board" and told her I work a driving job. Any car, any driver, Silicon Valley, open API, no passengers. The women glowed and said "well I have a commercial CDL license. Ended up with this wonderful Uber driver in a beautiful car. When the people at h & w said "you have to leave and we might even text you on a different day". I said "ok, that's no problem, the only reason I was alarmed was because "they couldn't see this coming", lol. I said I would have extended the hours, been working the front lines, and been open all weekend long. But the truth is even the pharmacy can find staff with some of the ugly people you have to deal with. I said I completely understand your position and you got "short sighted" to the old women, housewives, Tulane students and everyone else that followed protocol. Problem is- when I called the girl was so cool, calm, and collected she made it sound like "everything is perfect" when in reality it was a madhouse. I had to ask the staff if I could pray for them, and remind the others (as I departed) about how fortunate they were and that I was leaving peace fully, and empty. Everyone from the NOPD officer to the girls working there were nothing short of being absolutely professional and humble. I just smiled and said "I have a dream..." that's been replaying over and over for the past 35 years. It's a "new day" in Louisiana and I am happy and excited for the "new sheriff" in town. Crime should "go down", because IF it was a bar-there would be an escalator to OPP because of fights. We want to see things get better. That is the only reason for criticism, of which I have none. Some people were turned away for "not wearing a mask ", and that is fine. Because when in Rome do as the Romans do! Although they might not have been Roman, the demand was way far beyond anyone's expectations. Y'all did great . And the public was very satisfied with the professionalism that you all demonstrated. Good job to all the staff, pharmacists, security, and most importantly- the customers. At least I have the pleasure of knowing the social injustice was falling apart at the seams, and "the future is looking bright".

H&W Drugstore More than a pharmacy--a true NOLA community…read morestaple! Rating: If you are looking to support a truly local business that cares about the community, switch your prescriptions to H&W Drugstore. They have been serving New Orleans since 1963, founded in the Lower 9th Ward by Sterling J. Henry, Sr. and Wesley J. Watkins. What I love about them is their resilience. After Katrina, they didn't just leave; they rebuilt and came back stronger in New Orleans East, Treme, and in Marrero, LA. It's that kind of dedication to our city that you don't get at CVS or Walgreens. The service is always personal and fast--they actually know your name. They take all major insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid. As a Black-owned, 50+ year institution, they represent the best of New Orleans. Supporting them means supporting a business that keeps care in the community. Highly recommend!"
