Prior to our cruise out of Buenos Aires, we stayed at the Sofitel Hotel in the Recoletta district…read more It was a definitely a plus being accros the street from a beautiful mall with wonderful stores and a great food court. We were taking a Princess Cruise and they use this hotel so we booked a few extra days here to be able and tour Buenos Aires. The team here is super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing but smiles. The room was shiny-clean and had everything we needed, especially a good working area for our computers. Queen size bed with comfortable pillows and plenty of towels. We defiantely like a larger room where it is easy to move about and this was perfect. We did not take advantage of the closet space and drawers as we were going to leave in three days. The Bathroom was large and extremely comfortable. The good shower with hot water is always a plus. There consierge services was perfect and the wonderful people at the desk help guid us everything we needed as well as two fabulous Michelin Steak Houses. They certainly knew there district. This hotel was very centrally located andwe could walk to many places. Breakfast was included and they had so many options which included various breads, muffins, eggs, sausage, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal and a kitchen that custom made your eggs. I must say that I was so surprised reading some of the one and two star reviews. Rooms are generally not ready at 10:30 AM, why would you expect them to be? Also, a bug... let me tell you the time there was a Palmetto Bug in my tub in Florida. There were no strange smells here, clean carpets and clean rooms. KUDOs to the team at the Sofitel Hotel & Resort.

Its prime location made it easy to access everything Buenos Aires has to offer, making my stay incredibly convenient. The service at Sofitel is truly 5-star. The staff were super friendly and always ready to assist with a smile. From the moment I checked in, I felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of. The concierge services were exceptional, providing excellent recommendations and making sure all my needs were met. One of the highlights of my stay was the amazing breakfast. There was a wide variety of delicious options, all beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. The attention to detail in the culinary offerings truly enhanced my experience. The hotel also boasts a beautiful, well-maintained environment. My room was spotless and very comfortable, providing a perfect sanctuary after long days of school-related activities. Overall, my stay at Sofitel Buenos Aires was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. Thank you, Sofitel Buenos Aires, for an unforgettable stay!

Why are the other reviews so good?…read more - Bathrooms are dated and disgusting, please remodel - We had a group of 3 people who were each over 70, and no one offered to help with their bags while checking out - They have decent dinner, which means they know how to cook, but their free breakfast is inedible. Just charge money and make it taste better - Reception is always understaffed and has a long line - I paid for a corner room and had the view of a wall and a tree

When we arrived , we were early and asked to return around 2pm to check in. At 2pm we were then told that room was so big that house keeping is still cleaning it. Check in would be delayed until 3pm. At 3pm we were then told another 30 minutes. The manager met we us and offered free drinks while we waited. Room was ready at 3:45pm. They attempted to deliver our luggage to room, but it we not our luggage. Second try we did get our luggage. When we arrived back at Hotel after dinner, I want to take a bath in whirlpool tub in bathroom, not not hot water. Maintenance came to room and I was told to run water for 10 minutes and maybe I would get hot water. I had no luck doing this. The next day when we got back to the room, we had a letter from management stating that they would like to apologize for the late check in and was offering a free sweet or savory dish, if we call the front desk. I attempted to use both phone in the room, but neither worked. I again had to go to front desk and they sent someone to fix our phone. They were able to fix phone next to bed, but not in bathroom. We were spending 4 night at Hotel Madero, and I have never had so many problem staying anywhere. I think this hotel over sell and under delivers in what they offer. Issues that we had while staying there were never address and management took no interest in helping us. Nice hotel, but never staying there again. Good luck if you decide to stay here.

It seems that everyday restaurants around the square setup seating so you can dine and enjoy the weather. There are people who will come up to you and try to sell you things, but ignore them and they will go away. The hotel also has a nicely decorated wine bar and restaurant on the lower level. It was never busy and the food and wine there was very good. And the location has cobblestone roads and there are cafes and wine shops galore! There are also an over abundance of gift shops so you can find whatever you may desire. On the negative side, the hotel room bathroom sometimes smelled of sewage (not great), the shower didn't drain well so you found yourself standing in a mini pool for your toes, and they didn't give any wash clothes. They have one sponge to bathe with, but one isn't quite enough when you have more than one person in the room with you. My wife and I love each other, but we tend not to want to share a bathing sponge! It's not quite like sharing a toothbrush but close enough! Overall, the good outweighed the bad, and it is a cool place to stay for a short trip.

They allowed an early checkin which was greatly appreciated as we arrived on international flight at 10am. Great to get a quick nap and rest up. Can't go wrong with Curio as American when visiting a country you are not familiar with. I have stayed at several and have always thought they do a good job
