Lao village houses probably some of the best laos food i've had in Sydney. Usually there is a line out the door but if you come early enough you won't have to wait long. food is fresh and flavorsome. would definitely take my family here read more

This establishment is the O.G of Lao restaurants in the fairfield area of which many have come and gone, Lao Village has managed to stand the test of time and well known for it's no frills authentic dishes. You know it's good when an eatery has looked the same since it's opened it's doors in the early 80s and people are still sitting outside on milk crates salivating while they wait for their turn. being charged for returning a dish!!! our family have been eating here for more the. 20years...if the dish is TOO dry or TOO hard to consume, then i think we would know by now! the crispy rice dish is "yes" suppose to be nice and crunchy "right?"....and yes it should. but when it is un-eatable by my family of 8 and all agree that it is too hard to chew & swallow then we are probably "correct"! the lady owner said " its suppose to be crispy..and i still have to charge you if you return ?!!" so they did...charged us when we return the entire dish! im giving this place 1 star... with being how busy they are...customers satisfaction should be considered immediately, especially this family that has support them for decades! read more

This place is awesome for cheap authentic Lao food. Its been in the same location for nearly 30 years! Its about to move to bigger and probably nicer/newer premises only around the corner from where it is now. (Not sure when but I was there about a month ago and it was still at the old place). I hope the food doesn't change! Our go to dishes - basically the whole menu. We head there usually early-ish to beat the crowds and go there with at least 4 people so we can order as much as we can so we can try all that we can. Must haves - Dried Beef, Lao sausage, crunchy rice ball salad, and the papaya salad - Lao or Thai style, depending on how hot/pungent you like it!. There's also the Lao Fried Rice, ox tongue (if you dare!), quail and even Balot! (Duck Egg Fetus). I don't eat that but maybe you're willing to try it ?!?! Have some sticky rice and there's also chicken feet salad! Some things are exotic (not your usual fair), spicy but so delicious. Most dishes are under $10 each and we have been absolutely full on under $15 a head ordering everything under the sun! Definately a place to try once. Don't expect much decor wise at least at the old place but staff are friendly enough and more than willing to accommodate big groups! Was brought here by a local (and a lover of Southeast Asian food). He said it was the best in town and an absolute must. So he brought us or all the way from the CBD and we had probably the best Southeast Asian food ever. Probably the most memorable dish was the Lao Sausage. I'd had Thai sausage before but it really is nothing compared to how insanely good this one was (my mouth is watering just thinking about it now). I'm not entirely certain how to explain it other than that it surprised me in all the right ways. Get it. You won't be disappointed. Another thing that was absolutely amazing was the ox tongue. I've had cow tongue before but this was just on another level. And though we didn't actually try it, my friend said that they do fried ice cream differently than other places do. Something about wrapping the ice cream in bread and frying that. Not too certain on the details there but it sounded like it would have been with a try if we weren't so darn full afterwards. read more

Travelled over 25km to eat here. Then decided to ordered takeaways for our extended family. Only when we got home we realised the order was not only wrong but fewer dishes. So called the restaurant several times and was promised a call back. Waited all night and then the next day but no call back or apologies. No respect for the customer and no acknowledgement of wrongdoing. If you order takeaways please check as you will be paying for dishes you didn't order and they will give you fewer dishes than what you ordered. read more

You know it's going to be authentic when your group is the only Caucasians in the restaurant, and we were not dissapointed. The dry beef, Lao style fried rice, ox tongue, bbq pork and the papaya salad were all delicious, but the best part was the bill, we were a group of 4 and we spent $20 each!!!! This place is literally what taste is all about. On the outside it looks no more than a shack, but don't be so quick to judge! I've stood in que for about an hour in the cold just to eat here when theres a store right next to it that sells the same cuisine. THIS PLACE IS WORTH IT! Authentic and full of flavour, they have a simple menu that is printed on a double sided sheet of laminated paper. Thats all they have, all they will ever have and all you will ever need. Dishes usually average around $10 and leave you satisfied and full! If I had to complain then I would have 2 things to say, the food is very oily. I'm sure everyone can agree too this, sometimes it can be overwhelming but its not necessarily a big problem. OH, AND REMEMBER 1 thing. Just don't use their bathroom ok? Ok. read more
