There are truck / rest stops along the Autobahn and then, there is Tauernalm, with the most amazing view and, a gourmet restaurant / biergarten :-)) Don't expect your fast food experience here. It is a proper stop to rest, relax and have a great meal. You are surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains and the restaurant itself is packed with great food. It's setup like a market with many food stations including multiple soups, big salad bar, sandwiches, fresh breads, a hot food bar, pasta station and tons of drink choices including fresh pressed juices and smoothies. And there is a big dessert counter with cakes, fruits, yogurts and tons of other choices. I was overwhelmed by the choice and wanted to eat it all :-)) I chose the salad bar and it had some amazing choices including tons of Spargel salads, lots of toppings like nuts and seeds and plenty of dressing. Unlike other stops, they charge you for the plate size here and, not by weight. People were loading up their plates ;-)) it was an excellent choice and I loved it. The banana smoothie I had was also good and the Spargel soup tasted divine. This place is not cheap so expect to pay for the meal. The biggest rip off here is €2 for a fresh bread roll....that's a bit too much if you ask me. I would stop here again and enjoy the view and a meal. It's a nice place for a gourmet rest stop. read more

This place is overpriced, the food isn't very good, three shrimps, four cooked chopped pieces of peppers, & five small potatoes costs €16 (!!!), and a bad cappuccino costs €5,10. Really, really, really recommend you hold out for something better. Saving grace was the view, there are toilets that (some) have toilet paper, and a wooden playground... just watch-out for splinters. read more
