On the way back I specifically looked for it and still took some time to find exactly where it was. It is fairly close to the train station. From the train station walking along Norra Vallgatan Street towards Slottsgatan look to your left while on the bridge. To your right across the street you will see a lighthouse in the back. The knotted barrel of the gun is pointing towards the direction of the lighthouse. The handle of the gun points towards the direction of Lilla Torg. The Knotted Gun, also known as Non-Violence, was created made by Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd. It isn't your ordinary image of a gun, as the end of its barrel twists into a knot. On the other side of the road, you can see its companion, a large square sculpture with a hole in it. Reuterswärd was inspired to create this giant bronze depiction of a Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver after John Lennon was murdered. His artwork is both a symbol of and call for peace and non-violence. Now, the image is the symbol of the Non-Violence Project, which is a nonprofit that is dedicated to changing the world through peaceful means. There are various knotted guns scattered throughout the world. The most famous and most visited version stands outside the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Trying to find this gun was kind of hard as the photos make it look like it's a huge statue. It's quite the opposite! It's quite small and on a large pedestal. But it is quite close to the train station just west of it, across the bridge. If you blink you may just miss it. We were lucky enough to use our resources and eventually found it. It is small but a powerful message. If not anything, it'll be a good activity to try to find it. I know it was quite an adventure for us.

Back in the 90ties I were studying Geography, and we were making a analysis of the street. It had been a vibrant street in a working class area with all kinds of shopping. The street died, and it raised again like a phoenix. All the essential shopping is back, but it's a hipster community. Fortunately a lot of the housing in the area is non-profite, so the area known as The Black Square is still black by it's emigrants and drunks. You can also spot a student or two. In the street you can buy to expensive coffee, support Islamic extremists, have icecreme, buy clothing, hang out with cheap beer, or do what you want. We're inclusive at Blågårdsgade. Just remember we live here, and you're a probably a guest.

A great area that embodies Inner Nørrebro perfectly. A lot of Danes (including those "with another…read moreethnic background than Danish," as ethnic Danes would say), international hipsters, and immigrants like me hang out here. Although the street itself is dirty, the shop fronts are colourful and attractive and the graffiti is cool (NOT the tagging). Why are we all hanging out here? Because there is something for everyone. Blågårds Apoteket for the older day-drinking crowd, Harbo Bar for the hipsters, Beyti for drunks in need of a meal, and Cafe N for the vegetarians. Obviously these divisions are not cut and dried and of course there are also some places with a mostly mixed demographic like Props, Hind Marked, or the library. Although this street has had a troubled past, it is a nice blend now and when I'm here I feel at home. It's especially great when there is a block party or fleamarket going on. Definitely check it out if you are visiting Copenhagen, just stay out of the way of cyclists. It consists of 49 different town houses that people own. Olufsvej has become a very popular street amongst both people in the area and tourist due to how gorgeous and different each house is. They are all painted a different color and are very well maintained with flowers/bushes out infront of many of the properties. If you happen to be in the area of this street, I highly recommend stopping by and having a look at Olufsvej. Copenhagen in general is a very gorgeous city, but there's just something very quaint about walking down this street and seeing all the beautiful colors and how lively the street is. It's also the perfect photo spot, of course. So bring your camera!

Because while others are completely infatuated with it, I'm a bit more, "meh, it's OK". The old town houses, all of them painted in a variety of colors, are picturesque, definitely, and the street is nice and quiet, in spite of being in a very busy part of the city. So in that sense, yes, there's a local gem-vibe going. However, when I've walked down it (and living near-by with small child means you take plenty of walks down every street in your 'hood), I've often had this sort "OK, that's that, then" feeling when I've walked the length of the street. A sort of underwhelmed feeling, really. Couple that with a couple of times when the local residents have been, let's say, unwelcoming, and the place has just lost some of its charm for me. Yes, it is a cozy little street, and it is pretty picturesque (the modern buildings at either end is a bit of a drawback, though), but I just find it wanting.

Thus, visiting Kronborg Castle was a highlight. First a little history, Frederick 2nd became King and married his 14 year old cousin, Sophie. Scandal, nah, not in those days.He wanted to build a castle that would be the envy of Europe and thus he did, Kronborg. Now, there are no historical facts that confirm that Shakespeare visited this castle. It is believed, the actors who performed in his plays did visit this castle and regaled William with stories and that is how Hamlet was conceived. Next, the castle...absolutely stunning ( I would like to believe that somehow I had relatives born in this era and the castle is in my blood). There are specific points where visitors can visit: Cannon Tower( 145 steps to the beautiful scenic views and you can see Sweden from here), Castle Kitchen,Chapel, Dance Hall. There are 45 minute tours that a guide will give you an overview of Castle and a 15 minute talk about how the Castle came to be started in the 1420's. I participated in the 15 minute overview and the staff member really gave a great history; I didn't know that Sweden and Denmark were at war with each other for centuries. The grounds are magnificent; there are steps to climb to get the scenic view of the sea. There are cafes, galleries and gift shops you can visit. I spent a pretty krone on some beautiful mementos. The entire staff were wonderful, knowledgeable and kind. Thank you! I highly recommend visiting Kronborg Castle when you visit Denmark. How to get here: Fly to Denmark, take Regional Train to Helsinor station then catch bus outside station. The bus ride is 5 minutes (1st stop). Or you can walk to the Castle, around 10 minutes. Myself being a Princess, took my carriage ( Bus 353) to said castle. Cheers!

Purchasing tickets online was a breeze, and checking in when we arrived was seamless. From the stunning bridges to the breathtaking interiors, every part of this place was beautiful. Navigating inside was straightforward, and we were amazed by the architecture and how well the castle has been preserved. One of our favorite parts was the underground area--it was such a fascinating and unique spot to explore. The gift shop was also impressive, offering a wide variety of souvenirs to take home. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that I'd highly recommend!
