I watched an employee just go back and forth pushing a broom in front of the exit door getting in the customers way as they tried to leave the store. They had stocked St. Patrick's day items in with the Christmas items. Some of the aisles were so messy with boxes of u stocked items you couldn't even get down them. This used to be nice store to go to for holiday decor but it seems not anymore.

What especially impressed me was the huge variety of sizes, colors, and thickness of their outdoor cushions. When I saw the selection and quality, I was super excited about replacing some dingy cushions we had at home with some of the ones on offer here, but I had to go home and measure to find out exactly what size I needed. Unfortunately, their website lists all their items that are out of stock, and doesn't have a way for you to select an option to search only in-stock items. As a result, I spent hours trying to figure out what actually was available, and I wound up giving up and ordering from a different company online. Next year, I will probably be back to treat myself to a nice new outdoor rug to bedazzled our deck. looks like they had a pretty nice selection of holiday decor as well. they had supplies out already for both Halloween and Christmas.

I had NOT heard of WMU Surplus sales until I saw something on facebook marketplace for it. They are…read moreonly open 2 days a week, and so today, figured we'd stop by. WOW WOW WOW. This place! It is an extremely environmentally-friendly way for WMU to reduce reuse recycle furniture, electronics, new lightbulbs, textbooks, a piano, chairs, file cabinets...just about anything you can imagine being used at a University, they have it. Follow their facebook page (WMU surplus sales) for up-to-date inventory (new things posted weekly!), but definitely stop by to see what they have. I was pleasantly surprised. Office chairs are $3! What was particularly funny to me were the industrial-type desk staplers...they would make a GREAT gift for someone that loves stapling. This has been the biggest shopping surprise in my entire time living in Kalamazoo. You'll never know what you will find! The staff are SO kind and friendly. Parking: there is a lot across the street; do not park on the street. EVEN better, the entrance is at the back by the loading dock, so park back there. Anything eventually not sold gets broken down and recycled. I LOVE this environmentally-wise way that WMU works. Bravo!

I always thought it was super high end and expensive for some reason. We decided to just browse one Saturday morning and we ended up having a great experience! There is metered street parking in the front of the store, but there's also a large free parking lot behind the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had been in before. When we said no, the friendly employee gave us the lay of the land and told us there are three floors to the store and that it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Totally true! I always thought this store was small, but it's really huge. We started browsing through all the setups and were immediately impressed by the styling of each area and all the different items. They have all kinds of furniture, decorations, and rugs. Prices were clearly marked which I appreciated since it shows they're not trying to hide anything. I was pleasantly surprised that I found quite a few things that would fit into our budget, along with higher-end, more expensive pieces. They also have a clearance section which we looked through. The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!

I visited Bob's Discount Furniture and was assisted on my first visit by Skyler. What I appreciated…read moremost is that when I told Skyler I was overwhelmed already (I had a lot of furniture to shop for) he told me where to look and said he would give me space until I was ready. Skyler continued to assist as needed throughout my shopping. I narrowed down my choices and Skyler put together 2 carts for me because I was undecided between 2 different sectionals. I went back again with my sister a couple days later so I could get her input, and we were assisted by Braedyn. When we mentioned that we were concerned that the sectionals would look too bulky in my living room, Braedyn showed me how I could separate the sectionals I loved into 2 pieces as a sofa and love seat. Once again I was thrilled with the service I received. I shopped at other furniture stores, but I thought the furniture at Bob's was very reasonably priced (except for the mattresses). I finalized my sale today and was happy that both Skyler and Braedyn were working so that I could tell them both how much I appreciated them. I'm a little concerned now as I see all the bad reviews, but I am hoping my delivery goes smoothly. I definitely plan to update afterwards.
