Flat Fork Creek Park is part of Fishers Parks. Located at 101st and Cyntheanne Road, Flat Fork Creek Park offers just over 60 acres of relaxing fun for just about everyone in the family including a good amount of ADA accessibility. First off, you'll get a 60-foot sledding hill here. That's good to know as we inch toward winter. It's the tallest point in Hamilton County. There's also a 1.25 mile progressive mountain bike course that offers features for both mountain biking newbies and those with more experience. There's a beautiful fishing pond - state license required except for those 17 and under. Nearly 20 acres in the park are reforestation areas and there's a shelter with picnic tables that can be rented. Okay, that accessibility I mentioned? The 3k I did was a relatively small group, though it was centered around disability and had several disabled participants. The park includes an ADA accessible treehouse, a paved multi-use trail, and a boardwalk (I would note that while the boardwalk is, indeed, accessible, you do want to be a tad careful due to the side of the boardwalk that do offer a bit of a drop-off). You know what I think is really cool? They've created a ramp here so that even those with mobility issues can get to the top of the sledding hill - in most parks, that's an afterthought. As a side note, Fishers has won awards for their inclusion work and this park really shows it. This is really just a lovely park. You're not going to find a playground or other frequent park features, however, this beautiful park does a nice job of including everyone and weaving together nature with fun park adventures. This was my first time here. It won't be my last.

Sometimes, the simplest things entertain kids the most, and my kids were entertained for quite a while with just four things to play on. The slide is one of those tall, super slippery jobs that launch you off of it and onto the ground straight on your butt. Then there's the geodesic dome with the chipped paint. And then there are two climbing things: one is kinda like monkey bars, and the other if shaped like some animal. The ground is wood chips, so it's softer than solid ground when falling off the slide (and you will fall off -- I'm telling you, it launches you off).

The Geist Reservoir runs through the park, and when we visited, we saw people kayaking along the river. We had fun just throwing rocks into the water. Be advised that there are signs all around the park near the river that say that you shouldn't swim in the water because there is a strong undercurrent. So no swimming! The playground has a really neat play structure with lots of ropes, ramps and things to climb. My kids had a lot of fun here -- it's set up almost like an obstacle course. There are also slides, swings (including a swing for really young children), riding toys and tunnels. The ground is covered with wood chips, so it's nice and soft in case your kiddo falls. There are also benches all around so you can sit and see your kid play from whatever angle you happen to be in. There are restrooms just off of the playground, and they were relatively clean when we were there. Parking is plentiful and right by the playground.

I saw that Cyntheanne Park was a couple miles away and decided to stop in. Cyntheanne Park is part of the Fishers Parks system. Founded in 2010, Cyntheanne Park offers a landscape playground structure, five multi-purpose sports fields, a 1-mile paved multi-use trail, a natural grass trail, and it's also home to the Community Garden Program - this program allows residents to rent 10x10 foot plots of land to garden for the season. The Community Garden Program offers conventional and organic growing along with 4x9 foot raised bed plots. According to Fishers, this park is the only municipality in the country to have eight outdoor courts - including Cage Pickleball Challenge Courts. While Flat Fork Creek Park has a strong emphasis on nature, Cyntheanne has a strong sports focus with a football field, lacrosse fields, pickeball courts, rugby fields, trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The park also has restrooms and solid parking. This is a bit more of an isolated park compared to Flat Fork Creek. While I would consider this park a bit less accessible than Flat Fork Creek, Fishers as a rule does pretty well at accessibility and you can definitely see those efforts here. If you're active in any of the sports going on here, this might be considered a destination park. For most, however, this really isn't a destination park. It's simply a very good community park and a great place to gather for residents of all ages and abilities. I wouldn't go out of my way to return here, however, I would no doubt return here when in the area.

There's a playground here, which is important to mention if you have children like mine who might not want to go for a hike or walk anywhere outdoors if it doesn't also include visiting a playground. The playground is located right next to the parking lot, and there are lots of things to climb and jump on. There's also a slide and monkey bars and things, and benches to sit on. As the name of this place suggests, there is a paved trail that winds through the back of a neighborhood, around a retention pond, that supposedly meets up with Geist Reservoir. We didn't make it too far along the trail, but I'd like to come back to explore it a little more.

There is a decent sized parking lot that is connected to the park by a bridge over Mud Creek. There is also some street parking available on the other side of the park. The park has a huge green space that can used for soccer, football, and a picnic. I saw some kids flying a kite on the space while I was there. They have a decent bathroom facility near the parking lot and a picnic shelter. You will find two horseshoe pits (The only park in Fishers with that amenity) near the shelter and a very nice basketball court in the center of the park. The playground is a mud free one that is constructed on a rubber surface. It does not have much as far as equipment goes, but it features two jungle gyms. One of them is huge and has lots of slides, ladders and walkways. The other is a bit smaller and has a few slides and is for the little kids. You will also find a tight rope in the area and climbing rocks, and two banks of swings with traditional, special needs, and toddler swings on them. The equipment is not the newest, but is well maintained and in good shape. There are benches and picnic tables in the playground area for parents to sit while their littles are playing. The picnic tables have a small shade awning over them. Just like most of the park's amenities, it is very nice. The park is very clean and well maintained. I like its quarter mile walking/storybook trail loop and Mud Creek overlook where you can sit and enjoy the creek. With it being a nice park, it can get busy during nice weather, especially during school breaks and weekends. My little really liked the park and it was really hard to get my little to leave. It is a nice park right outside of a Fisher's neighborhood. I am glad we had some good weather and that my little was able to make it out.

They are mostly used for warm up areas where some of the young ball players are tossing the ball around. They have a decent sized parking lot, but when the ball teams are playing, parking gets kind of crazy and it is hard to find a spot. Even finding a spot in the grass was difficult for me. The playground areas are on a bed of wood chips and has a bank of swings and a large jungle gym with monkey bars, a couple of slides and more.It is in decent shape and is relatively new. I will admit, the areas are both kind of small and do not have much equipment, You will find a picnic shelter here with a couple of tables under it. It could use a few more.Also, during games, they have snack bars and restrooms available. The baseball portion of the park consists of 13 fields, 2 restroom/concession stands, and two batting cages. This is a nice facility and can host some big tournaments. in front of Fields 1 and 4 you will find the park's centerpiece, the Chosin Memorial, which consists of a path, a nice sculpture, and a group of flag poles representing the county and all the branches of service. This is a nice park, even though it is mainly for baseball/softball. It is in very good shape and well maintained. My little's did find the playground very entertaining and it was difficult for them to leave. The good part was that the playground that we were at was empty. We were the only ones there. The one of the other side was packed though.

Dale Enochs (Bloomington) sculpted this multi-piece "Rolling Rhythm" that is a massive 65' x 27' x 15'. At night, this piece is lit to bring a dramatic appearance to the north end of Saxony Boulevard (around 133rd). The actual park is only 3.4 acres, but there is additional green space that could be used sporting events or a fireworks celebration. Just south of the park is a playground too. There is no designated parking here, but street parking is allowed on Saxony. The rest of the actual park area is mostly wooded and has a paved path that runs along the perimeter.
