I was a little bit nervous about signing up to do a 3k event in November, however, the opportunity…read morepresented itself and I knew I'd be able to visit a park I'd never been to before. Flat Fork Creek Park is part of Fishers Parks. Located at 101st and Cyntheanne Road, Flat Fork Creek Park offers just over 60 acres of relaxing fun for just about everyone in the family including a good amount of ADA accessibility. First off, you'll get a 60-foot sledding hill here. That's good to know as we inch toward winter. It's the tallest point in Hamilton County. There's also a 1.25 mile progressive mountain bike course that offers features for both mountain biking newbies and those with more experience. There's a beautiful fishing pond - state license required except for those 17 and under. Nearly 20 acres in the park are reforestation areas and there's a shelter with picnic tables that can be rented. Okay, that accessibility I mentioned? The 3k I did was a relatively small group, though it was centered around disability and had several disabled participants. The park includes an ADA accessible treehouse, a paved multi-use trail, and a boardwalk (I would note that while the boardwalk is, indeed, accessible, you do want to be a tad careful due to the side of the boardwalk that do offer a bit of a drop-off). You know what I think is really cool? They've created a ramp here so that even those with mobility issues can get to the top of the sledding hill - in most parks, that's an afterthought. As a side note, Fishers has won awards for their inclusion work and this park really shows it. This is really just a lovely park. You're not going to find a playground or other frequent park features, however, this beautiful park does a nice job of including everyone and weaving together nature with fun park adventures. This was my first time here. It won't be my last.

I love taking my dog here for a walk or going alone just to watch the sun set. The park is spacious and clean and overall a great experience. If it were closer to me I'd probably go daily.

Sometimes, the simplest things entertain kids the most, and my kids were entertained for quite a while with just four things to play on. The slide is one of those tall, super slippery jobs that launch you off of it and onto the ground straight on your butt. Then there's the geodesic dome with the chipped paint. And then there are two climbing things: one is kinda like monkey bars, and the other if shaped like some animal. The ground is wood chips, so it's softer than solid ground when falling off the slide (and you will fall off -- I'm telling you, it launches you off).

Whether you are little (there are three playgrounds), an older kid (lots of baseball fields, a skate park, basketball courts), or an adult who enjoys hiking, the park should provide the opportunity for enjoyment. Parking lots are distributed throughout the park which winds along Church St to a loop on the western end. So, no matter where you go, you can take advantage of the convenience. Restrooms, some with colorful murals on the buildings, are also available during the warmer months. Shelters are also available for gatherings, some with grills. The park could use a bit of attention, but hopefully, a spring cleaning can brighten the look of the place. Review #747

The main feature of the park is the historic Bell Ford Covered Bridge, which opened last year. The bridge was moved from Jackson County and reimagined as a new crossing over Fall Creek on part of the trail system. The bridge and creek offer a picturesque backdrop for visitors. A set of trails moves along the creek. The creek attracts fisherman. I saw something new and impressive. The stairs leading down from the bridge had a slot for bike tires so skilled bikers could roll right down the stairs. The playground was packed with small kids. The climbing structure is awesome! The swings work for many different levels of skill. I particularly liked the covered bench seating for tired grandparents. I saw a pavilion with picnic tables and grills. Restrooms are available on the back side of the pavilion. The parking lot is large and accessible. The park is well loved yet still immaculate. I'd be here everyday if I lived closer.

I saw that Cyntheanne Park was a couple miles away and decided to stop in. Cyntheanne Park is part of the Fishers Parks system. Founded in 2010, Cyntheanne Park offers a landscape playground structure, five multi-purpose sports fields, a 1-mile paved multi-use trail, a natural grass trail, and it's also home to the Community Garden Program - this program allows residents to rent 10x10 foot plots of land to garden for the season. The Community Garden Program offers conventional and organic growing along with 4x9 foot raised bed plots. According to Fishers, this park is the only municipality in the country to have eight outdoor courts - including Cage Pickleball Challenge Courts. While Flat Fork Creek Park has a strong emphasis on nature, Cyntheanne has a strong sports focus with a football field, lacrosse fields, pickeball courts, rugby fields, trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The park also has restrooms and solid parking. This is a bit more of an isolated park compared to Flat Fork Creek. While I would consider this park a bit less accessible than Flat Fork Creek, Fishers as a rule does pretty well at accessibility and you can definitely see those efforts here. If you're active in any of the sports going on here, this might be considered a destination park. For most, however, this really isn't a destination park. It's simply a very good community park and a great place to gather for residents of all ages and abilities. I wouldn't go out of my way to return here, however, I would no doubt return here when in the area.

It is a nice park and has two playgrounds, one on each side, some decent sized pockets of green space where you can have a football game, soccer match or fly a kite. They are mostly used for warm up areas where some of the young ball players are tossing the ball around. They have a decent sized parking lot, but when the ball teams are playing, parking gets kind of crazy and it is hard to find a spot. Even finding a spot in the grass was difficult for me. The playground areas are on a bed of wood chips and has a bank of swings and a large jungle gym with monkey bars, a couple of slides and more.It is in decent shape and is relatively new. I will admit, the areas are both kind of small and do not have much equipment, You will find a picnic shelter here with a couple of tables under it. It could use a few more. Also, during games, they have snack bars and restrooms available. The baseball portion of the park consists of 13 fields, 2 restroom/concession stands, and two batting cages. This is a nice facility and can host some big tournaments. in front of Fields 1 and 4 you will find the park's centerpiece, the Chosin Memorial, which consists of a path, a nice sculpture, and a group of flag poles representing the county and all the branches of service. This is a nice park, even though it is mainly for baseball/softball. It is in very good shape and well maintained. My little's did find the playground very entertaining and it was difficult for them to leave. The good part was that the playground that we were at was empty. We were the only ones there. The one of the other side was packed though.
