Also this is an independent restaurant, which means they are not tied to a specific brewery, they pick their beers weekly/monthly and that makes for a great offering of quality local beer. Their other dishes are equally delicious, if you don't like pork should I always recommend checking out some of their daily specials. On my last visit I have beef roulades, which are beef rolls willed with bacon, onions and pickles. They are also served with gravy and a potato dumpling. Make sure to call for reservations, this place is extremely popular with locals. Chances of getting a table on a walk in basis are slim to none.

Great ambiance all together. The staff was very attentive and we didn't seem to have an assigned server as any of them passing by checked to see if we needed anything. The menu here changes often, but also has a few staples and some innovative takes on our Franconian dishes. So we discovered Pretzel pizza... I was suspicious at first, reading the list of ingredients, but threw caution in the wind and went for the Franconian version (my friend opted for the Vegetarian). It really did sound horrible... laugen dough (which is what pretzels are made of), Schmarrn (related to sourcream, or cream cheese, but not quite the same), local brats, kraut, cheese and tomatoes. I was prepared for a nightmare... but it ended up being delicious. The pizzas were served with a mini salad topping the middle of it. The dough was nice and thin and had that typical nice chewy crust all around. The ingredients worked surprisingly well together, but could have done without the tomatoes. Visually they were a nice pop of colors, but tastewise they had no business on the Franconian Pretzel pizza. I didn't try the vegetarian version, but my friend, who is a tiny person, ate the entire thing, whereas I could only finish half of mine. So I would say she enjoyed it. I had the pana cotta with blueberry compote and was delighted to see the compote made from the small blueberries I grew up with instead of these huge overbred tasteless blueberries so common nowadays. I'm not sure if they really speak much English- we tried to speak only in German and they treated us like locals, conversing all in German with us. FYI- our waitress informed us that there is no service tip included in the total price of our meals, so we gave a tip on top of our meals. This is atypical of our experience in Europe.
