Armed with 12 days of Duolingo, we peeked in the door of SpitalKeller. It looked inviting with classic German architecture, so we went in. The help were friendly, made sense of our poor German, and even helped us out by throwing in English words for us. The portions were ample. I had pork medallions over spaetzle, which came in a large iron skillet and included three large medallions. They were very tasty and cooked to perfection. My wife and son had pork schnitzel with spaetzle. They agreed that the food was very good and the portions were large. We enjoyed a Weis-Gold and a Pilsner with it, and they appeared to have a large wine menu and cocktails. The bill was very reasonable - we were extremely surprised. Give this place a try. It was great!

It was definitely a locals hang out, all the seating outside was full and we were among like four table inside. I had ordered the rissoto and a side salad and both were excellent, very filling and the salad portion was huge and could have been a meal itself. The others ordered some typical Swabian dinners which consisted of steak and a cheesy Mac with salads. I sampled the other dish and they were delicious as well. Most of all you're eating in a 100 year old castle, no it's not a very old castle but still has that majestic rustic feel. All in all a good dining experience.
