This is a must-visit place but you will need reservations to secure a place to eat. We ended up walking 2.7km from our hotel to this place after hearing about it from different travel sites.
The owner is a super nice woman who was so welcoming and gracious given our lack of Portuguese language skills.
We started with one of their specials of the day appetizer, 3 toast slices topped with a creamy burrata cheese with an anchovy on top with olives and halved cherry tomatoes. So so so good! Picture attached.
I had the house specialty, an oxtail-based sauce over fresh-made cortecce pasta. The sauce was just slightly soupy but was rich and hearty with shredded oxtail meat. My wife insisted on taking my dish after I had had a few bites :(.
My wife and son ordered homemade spaghetti with spicy shrimp sauce. This was also fantastic. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the shrimp flavor was perfect and intense. Not spicy at all though.
And my daughter ordered the hand-rolled pappardelle with mushrooms and a black truffle sauce. The sauces with luscious and creamy with again, perfectly al dente pasta. The truffle was outstanding but not over-powering and the mushrooms were delicious.
For dessert, we shared the pannacotta topped with a strawberry sauce and the chocolate mousse cake. The pannacotta was creamy but light and the strawberry sauce was the perfect addition, slightly sweet. The chocolate cake was fantastic as well.
Definitely a place to go if you need a break from classic Portuguese fare. A little bit of a hike outside of Cascais, but well worth it. Again, do not forget to get a reservation before going. They are only open for limited hours and there are maybe 10-12 tables only. read more
