We rented the room with a kitchenette thoughtfully stocked with amenities that provided us with the convenience we could appreciate. This motel gets my highest ratings!!

In addition, the bedroom and bathroom were spotless, the beds firm and comfortable, the entire room solidly constructed. The weather got down into the 20s and we never felt a draft. The cottages are gorgeous and the property itself is off the main drag, which was awesome. We could walk to everything but not deal with loud people and drunks. The staff here are old school Polish and you can even hear Polish being spoken at times. Loved it. The room was clean and had everything you could want while on vacation. The property also has a pool Table, ping pong table, and lots more. It also has its own private beach and kayaks and canoes that you can take on the lake. Just beware of the sea plane that comes and goes most of the day. We will 100% be back next year. I have the luxury of knowing someone who owns a timeshare at this location so am fortunate to be able to stay from time to time. Each unit has a full kitchen, dining room, living room, loft, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, patio, and balcony. Amenities include a jacuzzi, sauna, and wood-burning fireplace. These three things alone make warming up and relaxing after long, cold (but fun!) days out in the frigid weather a breeze. The entry ways are large, with a bench and several coat hooks, to easily slip into and out of snow gear, boots, hats and gloves. The condo I stayed in had a gorgeous view of the golf course with a mountainous backdrop. I rented cross country skis from a local business and had the ability to ski right out the back door. The Jack Rabbit Trail runs nearby and there are plenty of paths and byways to explore in the immediate vicinity. Took sleds outside and slid down the sloping hills of the course. Wi-fi access was fast; plenty of room to spread out to get some work done remotely while I was there. Check-in was a breeze. Parking available for two cars. Initial supply of hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher tablets, sponge, toilet paper, and coffee supplies available but after that you're on your own. Plenty of clean sheets and towels.

Todd was very accommodating to us when we had to switch dates for our vacation. He was also great with communication, giving us detailed welcoming and departing emails stocked with all sorts of info. There was one small glitch that Todd saw to in a very timely manor. The cabin had a kitchenette that had everything we needed for our week stay. Two separate bathrooms (with abundant hot water) were very nice to have and would come in handy for two couples or a family with kids. The Wi-Fi was fantastic - no issues. TV with Roku was nice though we used it just once. We made use of the fire pit, grill and picnic table almost every day. Corn hole and a horseshoe pit were also used. We also brought croquet and bocci sets that we used as there was ample space to play. $10 for firewood that could be used for 3 separate fires was a decent deal. It's a great location between Saranac and Placid. The only suggestion I would have might be to put together a binder with suggestions of local hikes, water holes, falls to see/swim in, places to eat, etc. Here are a couple to consider: Jay Covered Bridge (swim, 30 min drive), https://www.whitefaceregion.com/story/2015/08/jay-rapids-adirondacks-best-kept-secret, Peninsula nature trails (10 min) easy trails with access to swimming in Lake Placid https://www.lakeplacid.com/hiking/peninsula-nature-trails , Donnollys ice cream 20 min, mom and pop ice cream place with just one swirled flavor that rotates daily. The walls are paper thin and you hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms. The staff is rather rude to deal with on the phone as well as in person. We come up to Long Lake every February as past of a large group (~100 people) for an extended weekend of Geocaching events around the area and there are only three real options for lodging this time of year in Long Lake ...Shamrock Motel, Adirondack Hotel, and the Quackenbush's Long View Wilderness Lodge (Hotel). We have stayed at all three and The Shamrock falls dead last of the three for us. They charge around the same as the Adirondack, more than the Quackenbush and you get the least amount of amenities of the three. Friends of ours stayed here again this year (this past weekend) and while we stayed at the Quackenbush, we visited our friends here and reconfirmed our decision of why we wouldn't stay here ourselves again. Our friends agreed. Some even changed reservations from here to the Quackenbush. If you have to stay here though, I'd recommend the cabins out back behind the motel. They are a little rough but at least you get some privacy and they have kitchenettes for cooking if you so desire. A bit pricey though for those and only a couple are winterized. There are more available in the Summer. They have free WiFi but signal is only good if you are in a room adjacent to the office or down in one of the cabins. If you are in a room at either end of the motel then signal is very week and prone to dropping off. There is no restaurant or bar onsite like at the other two options.

The campground itself is well maintained and cared for by caretakers, Zack and JJ, Cory and the rest of the staff. Speaking with them has been one of our absolute pleasures. There are not that many water sites that are easy to get down to the water from, but there is a nice boat launch of which had a sandy bottom to enter the lake with your kayak, canoe or paddle board. Also, there was a truck that came around daily selling firewood that I appreciated. The bathrooms and showers were clean.
