Lately, whenever I find myself in this predicament, I just pop into Pembroke Lakes Square. This plaza is BOOMING with yummy places to eat like Bolay, Five Guys, Burger & Beer Joint, Panera, Pei Wei, Chipotle, Jamba Juice, etc. There are also some shops like Walgreens, Home Depot, a boutique, and a jewelry store. If you're thinking this is a hang-out spot where you can spend a few hours, it's probably not. But there's a mall just one block over and other plazas nearby with even more things to do. BONUS: Ample, free parking! (We all know what a gem that is in South Florida.)

The Shoppes of Monterra Commons is a new mixed use development owned by Diversified Realty Development Company, which is based in Deerfield Beach. Construction began in December 2021 and it looks like they just need to lease a few retail spaces. This development includes over 100,000 square feet of new buildings over 16 acres of land with 700 parking spaces. The development cost over $10 million to complete. In addition to the stores and restaurants, the Shoppes of Monterra also includes a brand new 175-unit Residential Active Adult Community. Current Monterra Commons tenants include a Brightstar Credit Union, Baseball Cards, Culver's, Huey Magoo's, the Learning Experience, First Watch, Crunch Fitness, Oaxaka, and Cali Coffee. Coming soon is Tide Laundry, Gyromama, and Playa Bowls. There is currently empty leasing space for other businesses. I tried out the Cali Coffee and Blueprint Cookies and loved both. I was surprised to see how busy it was here so it is clearly filling a need in the community. It is interesting to see new development come to what I considered a dead end area of Cooper City. It was only a matter of time before this last large parcel of Broward County was developed. Hopefully Cooper City residents are going to like what they put in.

I went to Hong's BBQ, one of the many tenants in this strip mall, but here you can also find a Subway, a specialty market, an eye care office, an indoor play space for the little ones, a violin academy, a coins and collectibles store, a bakery, a veterinary office, a Carvel ice cream store, a bubble tea place, a nail salon, and much more... Sitting at the corner of Stirling Road and SW 70th Ave, this area of Davie is busy enough that traffic can be a bit of a problem sometimes. A large US flag flies over the the western end of the mall, so that's an easy way to find it.

The atmosphere was uncomfortable and unprofessional from the moment I walked in. What made the experience even worse was the behavior of associate Marisol. She was incredibly unprofessional, rude, and dismissive while assisting customers. Customer service should never make people feel disrespected or unwelcome, but that's exactly how this interaction felt. Instead of being helpful, her attitude came across as confrontational and careless. This location seriously needs better management, improved customer service training, and more accountability for how employees treat customers. Shopping here was frustrating and unpleasant, and I hope corporate addresses these issues before more customers have the same experience.

This shopping area was built in 2003-2004 and covers more than 12 acres of land, so it's very large in terms of land area. There's parking for more than 410 cars. I went to get something at the Publix in here and I was really surprised on how extensive this strip mall was. There were so many businesses here, that it's quite busy all day long. Besides the anchor Publix, there are many businesses like a Little Caesar's pizza, a Safe Ship store, a barber shop, liquor store, cash advance office, a Chicken Grill restaurant, spa and nail salon, playing card and games store, dentist office, Chinese restaurant and much more.

The security alert buzzer went off a few times during my shopping expedition. They offered clearance deals for many clothing items but alot of the exercise accessory shelves were almost bare and difficult to locate the price tags. Sadly a majority of the inventory on the racks and shelves were in complete disarray - either in piles, hanging off, or sprawled out on the floor (See Pics). I noticed an employee stocking inventory, although would require many more to clean up the mess.

From the moment I walked in, I didn't know where to begin browsing because everything caught my eye: There were tables full of the most perfect everyday tank tops, bodysuits, skorts and shorts and lots of racks filled with truly unique and beautiful dresses, blazers, pants, jeans and more. I absolutely loved everything. Then, in walked the lovely owner (Deena), who could not have been more friendly and helpful. She introduced herself and immediately started suggesting items that would work well for me. I felt like I was shopping with a girlfriend. I tried everything on and purchased most of what I selected. As I approached the register, I found even more great items on the shelves such as beautiful jewelry and hair clips. I grabbed the cutest claw clip to add to my pile. I can't wait to take my daughter back to shop. It's hard to find great clothing boutiques nearby, so I'm thrilled to have discovered G. Marie Boutique, and it will most definitely be my new go-to destination for that special something to wear.
