I have lived at Fairfield Ranch for seven years, long before the current management, and the…read moredecline in this property has been unbelievable.
Beginning last December, I repeatedly reported problems involving the same group of unsupervised children: riding bikes and scooters in active traffic areas, throwing things at my window, leaving toys and debris at my door, including a dead mouse, and creating constant disturbances directly outside my apartment.
This was not always Fairfield Ranch.
About a year ago, management itself sent a community email regarding food, toys, and even feces being left in the pool. Fairfield Ranch has now become the kind of place where a family of six can apparently live in a two-bedroom apartment while their children are repeatedly unsupervised throughout the property. In my opinion, allowing these conditions to continue brings down the quality of the entire community.
On April 3, the situation escalated after I recorded children riding their bikes in active traffic areas of the parking lot while I was trying to drive home and park. I was documenting what was happening so Fairfield Ranch could put and enforce appropriate rules for the safety of both the children and residents. What happens if, God forbid, one of these children is hit by a vehicle?
Instead, a parent aggressively confronted me for recording the situation. My son was repeatedly approached and threatened, I had to physically step between them, a witness contacted management, and police responded.
And by the way, Fairfield Ranch, you're welcome. Apparently I was more concerned about protecting your residents, these children, and your property from a completely preventable tragedy than you were.
When I later told Maylene that my complaints had been ignored for months, she responded, "Don't say that, because we did help you," referring to a reminder email management had sent about supervising children. Management also repeatedly asked whether I wanted to move or be released from my lease early.
SIX MONTHS LATER, IT HAS ESCALATED AGAIN.
The same person involved in the previous harassment is now vandalizing my truck. I reported this to management and specifically told them I feared for my safety. I was told they would investigate and follow up.
They never did.
Instead, while I was trying to discuss my safety, the conversation somehow turned to an employee's birthday, how desirable my particular apartment is, and how none like mine are currently available. Maylene then told me she would love to have an apartment like mine.
The circumstances are difficult to ignore. The first time I reported the harassment, I was repeatedly asked whether I wanted to leave. Now my vehicle is being vandalized, I am telling management that I fear for my safety, there is no promised follow-up, and I am simultaneously being told how desirable my apartment is.
I am laying out those facts because the sequence speaks for itself. It raises serious questions for me about why there appears to be more interest in my apartment becoming available than in addressing the safety concerns of the resident currently living in it.
I would NOT call Fairfield Ranch family-friendly, and I no longer feel that either I or my property are safe here.
My suggestion: don't move here.
Once upon a time, Fairfield Ranch was a lovely place to live. It no longer is. You don't have to take my word for it. Come see the property and decide for yourself.
