Including a pond that you can walk down by for fishing and birdwatching. And there's an old covered Bridge on one of the trails that you can see from the drive in.

This is a very nice park for history, featuring the remains of three canal locks (Locks 11, 12, and…read more13 of the now dry Ohio & Erie canal) and a nicely maintained bright red covered bridge, the Hartman No. 2, which was moved to the location in the 1960s. The bridge is located in the middle of the park, unattached to the road, so it's quite walkable and is also able to be reserved for events. There's a good-sized parking lot and an open-air picnic shelter, plus a variety of picnic tables and benches throughout the area. There's a lot of green space to enjoy too.

We went to shoot pictures of the covered bridge... it's a beautifully preserved red covered bridge. You can walk on and around the bridge... you can't drive on it (it's not connected to a road). The park is near some houses on one side, and a field on the other. There are information kiosks that provide a bit of historical perspective on the bridge and lock. The volunteers who maintain the park are very helpful and friendly, and actually also suggested we go to another nearby park the maintain that has another covered bridge and more.

Very clean, lots of water. There are a few that keep their eyes on their pooch and a few that pick up after them. It is open, but I think the grand opening is in April, and there will still be improvements coming after that for awhile. Currently there is a nice trail, a bathroom building, several workout stations, and a river overlook at the southern end. Soon there will be a playground, more trails (eventually connecting to the trails and parks north along the river) and more. I had a nice walk on the first day that we've been above freezing in weeks. Still plenty of snow on the ground. Parking lot and trails were well cleared. A nice place to walk, walk your dog, ride your bike. When the trails open farther north, you will be able to ride all the way up to downtown and to the other end of Columbus. It is a fairly narrow strip of land between the mall and the quarry, with water and trees to the west. Turn in at Walgreen's, go to the end of the road and turn left at the sewage pumping station. That doesn't sound pretty, but the park itself is actually pretty nice and a great addition to the south side.

In honor of Earth Day, I've decided to review a new-to-me trail that I've recently fallen in love…read morewith. The Scioto Greenway Trail provides an excellent mix of mother nature and the beautiful cityscape that is Columbus. What do I love so much about it? Well, for starters it's easy for me to access and there's plenty of signage along the way so I don't get lost. Secondly, it spans several feet across and there's room for everyone, even during this time of social distancing. Whether you're biking, walking, going for a jog, or strolling along with some kiddos, there's space for everyone. Also, there's so much green!!! This isn't a city trail that happens to run through a park. This is a nature trail that just so happens to run alongside downtown with a great view of the skyline. Lastly, it's crazy clean, at least 95% of it is. There are a few homeless camps set up between the trail and the river and those areas can get a bit messy. There aren't really any cons except that in some areas of the trail, it gets a little decolate. Being a female that runs alone, I don't hit this up when the sun is setting or down. It's not well lit in all areas and I simply don't feel safe. That being said, any other time I feel completely safe by myself. I've recently added this to my list of run routes and I can't wait to experience it during different times of the year. I bet it's beautiful in fall.

I actually want to let everyone know about their ice cream shop located inside, Barb and Roys…read more The service was excellent. Polite, offering us samples before ordering. The ice cream was creamy and delicious. Lots of different and unique flavors to choose from. The owner was great. She told us the story behind the name of the store and shared with us about a local contest (Sugar Trail) where you get a "stamp" when you make a purchase. When you collect all your "stamps," you get a "prize from the city! There was plenty of seating and even some comfy chairs. It is well lit and very clean. We needed this here in Grove City and will definitely be back for more treats! I was talking and forgot to snap a couple of pictures. Next time!
