A small sign outside notes the availability of soul food dinners within. People inside evinced curiosity at our CT license plates. Budweiser was served in quarts for less than a can costs in NYC. The menu was wholly unhelpful. We met with more success when we asked the woman with the apron what she had cooking. Smothered pork chops were on offer, as well as a generous helping of sides. The gravy was unbelievable. I can recall the taste of a steak I had at Peter Luger's when I was about 6. I'm not sure I can recall another meal with such clarity as this one (summer 2005). Nickson Disco will not be on any tourbook itineraries. It's literally "on the other side of the tracks," off Route 61. And the staff and clientele, even if surprised by our visit, were welcoming and friendly. Enough food for two for $8. Best food of a good eating trip to the south.

Again, it was nice being so convenient to the hotels and the interstate ramp.

They also sell Exxon-branded diesel fuel, fried chicken (Chester's), snacks, drinks, and a very limited selection of automotive supplies. As this is a very convenient stopping point, it can get really busy here. Be cautious of traffic congestion and impatient drivers.
