The beach front is large, there's a nice large restroom area, a covered sitting area with benches, plenty of picnic tables, drink vending machines, a little book library and more. Just like most beaches on Lake Huron there were lots of rocks on the shore and rocks a few feet into the water. Past the rocks the water was clear and there was soft sand. One of the things I liked best about this beach was there wasn't a current like there is closer to the bridge. My friend and I were able to float without being carried away. I also like that there were trees on the beach for some shade. If you are in this area, I highly suggest this beach. It's best to get there early before it gets busy.

In the summer months there's a concession stand open, along with the restrooms. I utilize the bay to bridge bike path on a weekly basis for running. The St. Clair River is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise.

Well we got there early and once it became our start time, noone was there. I ended up calling them to make sure someone was coming, and I was able to get a hold of a staff member who said they would be there in a couple of minutes. Well that turned into about 15 minutes later. Once the staff member came, they got the kayak on the water, showed us how to get in and gave us life jackets. The actually kayaking was nice and the weather was good that day. Basically two ways you can kayak through a nature area or by some huge lake houses. Both are obviously beautiful choices. So overall, it was a decent adventure but just did not like the fact they were late in getting things started.

As a result the paddles were to short. The only other option was to use a kayak paddle. If you are renting paddle boards and don't have the correct equipment to make it enjoyable and physically comfortable for all customers then you should not rent them.

We were in town for several days and this place turned out to be perfect for us. It is located directly on the river and across the street from the best golf course in the area. We rented a comfortable, furnished studio apartment compete with a small kitchen. The place was very clean and fresh, with quality linens and mattress. The manager told us that they had recently completed a renovation and it showed. I especially appreciated the free laundry facility, which is also new. It was a real treat to sit on the private beach and watch the freighters move up and down the river. We return to St. Clair every year and will definitely make this our home base from now on.

It was convenient to have a fully equipped kitchenette for those days we didn't want to dine out. We especially liked the view of the river and sitting on the dock watching the lake freighters. This place was a real find for our extended vacation. We have already booked our stay for next summer.

Lake Huron sounded cool so we found Happy Dog on the internet/went to their website and read the description that they are at Lakeside Beach in Port Huron on Sundays- this is on their website-- "Staffed on the weekends 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM weather permitting". Well, it was a beautiful day, very little wind, very little waves. But, just to be sure, I called them also- no one answered however there was a message-- the message very clearly described that they are staffed at Lakeside Beach on Sundays including today. So, we drove all the way to Port Huron, paid $20 to get into the park and went up to this trailer that said "Happy Dog Paddle Sports" on the side and there was no one there and all of the stuff was locked up. I went to the park staff and they said "oh, we don't know about that" but they were nice and called their mgmt and also called Happy Dog for us and no one answers and the message still says they are staffed there today. Happy Dog Paddle Sports are liars and ruined my day and wasted my $20 and that is what happened.
