In November, we were told an apartment would become available for us late November or at latest, early December by their manager. October 20th, we gave our $950 "holding deposit". November 17th, we turned in they key to our old apartment, current one at that time. Story after story prolonging the process as to why we could not move in yet continued all through last week until we finally requested our deposit back from the manager. I was told it would be ready Friday the 5th. Hear nothing so I finally go to Nelson Properties with original receipts and they have NO idea I had a deposit with them, that I requested it back, or that I was even waiting for an apartment. She even asked multiple times if I was sure I was referring to The Lakes because nobody had moved or was moving out of there. I shared the elaborate stories the manager had been giving me and have texts to prove it. She did not know what to even tell me. She agreed to get back to me after looking into it. 3.5 hours pass and they close in 30min so I make my way back because my call was NOT returned. They failed to return my deposit that day after having it for almost 3 months and never even processing my application. Today, I pick up my deposit finally and request all of my documents back because this manager, who most likely sat on my money the whole time and has continually lied text after text and conversation after conversation making up stories, most likely has access to it. The lady at Nelson Properties still has the nerve to ask what documents and many people turn in documents and never get them back and that the manager has them and I have to go there. So, off I go to get my documents and just to get in return copies and a claim that my Original Documents can not be found. Money wasted on 2+ months of storage for our life to be stored, Uhaul costs, cost of living with a relative when I would have never moved out of my own place without a secure place to go to as I was promised, and a whole lot of bs. My point in writing this very long post is to share the horrible experience and treatment we got from this company. I know they own half of Selma and I can really care less because this is not okay to do to people. What if we had no where to live or kids?

Tenant turnover used to be the worst for me... like seriously stressful. Every time someone…read moremoved out I was bracing myself for months of vacancy, showings that went nowhere, applications that looked good but flopped, and then sometimes ending up with tenants that weren't even good. My old manager? meh... didn't really care, made me feel like I was losing money and it was all on me. Chambers kinda changed all that. Vacancies dont drag forever anymore, tenants actually pay on time, treat the place decent... sounds simple but after what I went thru before it felt amazing. Tenants seem way calmer too. Less drama, fewer complaints... stuff actually gets handled. Chambers takes care of the communication, maintenance, all that stuff without turning it into a headache. Tenants know who to call and stuff actually gets fixed lol. I also like that I'm not just left guessing anymore. New applicant? I know. Lease signed? I know. Something pops up? I hear about it before it's a bigger problem. I don't feel outta the loop like I did before. Honestly... I'm not stressing about who's living there or how long it'll sit empty. Things feel steady now. After years of chaos and headaches, this kinda stability is worth way more than I thought it would be. Thank you Chambers.!

Questions would come up and I'd either get no response or something super vague days later. After a while, I just stopped asking and hoped nothing went wrong, which isn't exactly comforting when real money is involved. Once Chambers took over, that changed pretty quickly. Now when I have a question, I ask it and I get a real answer. Not days later. Not after following up multiple times. Just a normal, timely response like you would expect. It sounds basic, but it made a huge difference. What really stood out to me was how approachable they are. I've asked about lease stuff, tenant situations, random landlord questions, even things I probably should already know. I never felt rushed, brushed off, or made to feel dumb for asking. There were also times I reached out about things that weren't urgent at all or weren't technically their issue yet. They still helped me think it through and gave honest input. That was unexpected and genuinely appreciated. At this point, I don't feel like I'm guessing anymore. I don't feel stuck or unsure every time something small comes up, and that peace of mind alone is worth a lot. Thank you Chambers Property Management!
