From what we saw, there are picnic tables on a green lawn - RARE, in this area of golden hills and meadows, and PLENTY of free parking. Many films and TV shows have been shot here. It's located in historical Jamestown, CA and also less than 20mins from Columbia, CA, another great stop along the 49 in California Gold Country. Get there earlier or wake up at noon, have brunch, then make your way here and post up for a parking spot. LOL Trail: easy going and plenty of shade along the way. There was people of all ages, sizes, and shape; " Very Do-able". - Secret swim hole: a true gem. Natural, dripping cave filtering the run off from snows above. Water was super cold, but where else can you swim through a natural cave. "Gotta JUMP IN." Very refreshing. Short swim to opposite end of cave. "Safety 1st" - bring a life jacket or floaty. Read sign and follow rules, leave ROVER at home and pick up your TRASH. Adjudication: definitely worth a day trip to check out. "IT's COOL."

The staff was a bit over whelmed. The cashier at the back register seemed irritated with the kids looking at stuff near the counter and shut her register down. The crowd waiting for their food before us didnt get the right order, they had to remake their food and they told the girls prepping the food that the girl that took their order wasnt paying attention and wrote the order down wrong. Overall the food was good, the deck hands were friendly and we enjoyed the time on the lake.

So we go camping once a year, and every year we try something new. This year we found Cherry Valley…read moreCampground. It's about 29 miles past Sonora, Ca, but forewarned the drive is very curvy. But...once you arrive...OMG...the campground is amazing. There's a manager on site for any help, they sell firewood and have Potable water if you need it. The bathrooms are super clean and smell good, which is not normal for a campground. Now one thing you must know is that the lake is accessible at multiple points, but it's all rocky. So no matter where you go there's no real beach. However if you drive to the boat launch area which is like 5 minutes away, there is some sand and rocks to enjoy the water. We took some kayaks and we're able to explore the water, even saw a Bald Eagle. The scenery was great. Camping here was awesome, we will def be back.

We found Splash and Dash Aqua Park on TikTok while looking for something different to do for my…read moredaughter's birthday, and I'm so glad we did! It was a little bit of a drive for us, but definitely worth it. We had a group of about 8 and rented a cabana, which I HIGHLY recommend. The cabanas are spacious, shaded, and made it so nice to have a place to relax between getting in the water. Check-in was easy, and they got everyone set up with wristbands, water shoes, life jackets, and a safety briefing pretty quickly. The Aqua Park was SO much fun, but that water is COLD! It definitely took some courage to get in, and the climbing/jumping is actually a serious workout. The kids absolutely loved it, and everyone in our group had a blast. We also ordered food while we were there, and honestly, no complaints! The food was really good, and having it delivered right to our cabana was such a nice convenience. There's also a kids' splash area, BBQ areas, RV camping, fishing, and dogs are allowed. The bathrooms are pretty basic, and there are porta-potties with handwashing stations near the Aqua Park. We went on the last weekend of the season, so it wasn't crowded, which made the experience even better. Overall, we had a fabulous time and would definitely come back! Highly recommend for a fun family day or birthday!!

We went camping at Lake McSwain with friends, and they said the highlight of their trip every year…read moreis Splash and Dash. We did not know what to expect other than to bring water shoes! Instead of driving, we decided to paddleboard over from our campsite. It's about $50 to spend the day there. We arrived and noticed they had lakeside cabanas to rent for $180, but all the cabanas were booked so we rented two lounge chairs and a small table in the shade for $30. After you sign a waiver, you pay for a wristband, get fitted with a provided life vest, and attend a short safety briefing. Then you get in the very cold water, and swim over to the inflatable water park. Much of it is like an obstacle course. The entire park is inflatable so if you do not like walking on unstable surfaces, this is not for you. There were people there of all ages. The more agile and adventurous you are the more fun you will have. They have water slides of all sizes, jumps, monkey bars, climbing walls, and so much more. You do have to swim from attraction to attraction, but eventually get used to the cold water. It was challenging for me, but my friends had an absolute blast jumping off of the high platforms and going down the huge waterslide. They also had an area where you can relax on huge inflatable loungers. You can bring your own food and snacks, or even BBQ. They also have a café with food, and they sell beer as well. If you have ever watched the television show Wipeout, and wanted to try it, this is the place for you!
