I'm a huge Chihuly fan, so stumbling on this art glass shop was such a fun surprise! The instructor (totally missed his name) kicked things off with a live demo on how to make a light shade. He walked us through each step, answered everyone's questions, and made it super engaging. Watching the final piece come to life in those gorgeous colors was the highlight for me. They also offer classes for kids and adults, which looked really cool--I didn't sign up this time since I've done similar classes before, but it's definitely worth checking out!

Took the designer pumpkin class it was fun and fascinating. Every pumpkin was unique and Tyler did a fantastic job telling us the best way to work with glass.

On a weekend getaway to Duluth I decided to treat me and my wife to making some art at lake Superior art glass. It was an amazing experience we got to learn how to make various pieces of glass how to color them and got to actually do it in person with our own hands. There's a lot of safety involved being that the glass is at 2100 degrees when it's in the furnace. We were very comfortable with our instructor and had a great time making our first piece of art class I'm sure we will make many more in the future.

Another unique art shop, this one is a glass making shop. They make an array of amazing pieces from the practical to the artistic. The workers are knowledgeable about the processes and how the pieces are made so questions are encouraged. It's worth a visit!

This place is so cool. If in Duluth, you need to take a class for a really great experience. We made icicles and in an hour and a half we got to make 5-7 icicles. It was all hands on. The instructors were funny, patient and very engaging. We made both war and colored icicles. Truly a treasure to take home. They have other classes and really incredible pieces of art. It was a good family experience. Thanks!

Great Christmas gift! Instructors were super positive & helpful despite our serious lack of artistic ability!!! Only caution I'd pass along is... don't give your phone to Joe... (kidding he was fantastic).

Took a beginning class with Jake. It was so fun and we learned a ton. We love our paperweights and are recommending it to everyone coming up north!!!!

Sad my glass came out a bit crooked :( it would have been really helpful if they straightened it out in the process of adding the goblet and stand part. I think the shape made it a little wobbly and so my glass ended up toppling over and shattering. Really sad that it did not even make it one day :(

They do live glass blowing with an oven and also assist onlookers in helping make creations. The work they do here is great. They employees will come up to you and explain how some of the items are made. Very cool one-of-a-kind pieces, but they can be pricey. It is fun to go in and look around. Enjoy the photos. They are located in Canal Park just blo KS from the Aerial Lift Bridge.

Today we did a class with Peter ! It was awesome , i for sure would recommend it to Anyone thinking of doing a class. It was fun and Peter walked us through all the steps smoothly and made it fun. The option to ship stuff is a life saver , I can't wait for my stuff to arrive when I get home ! Thank you.

I love this glass gallery!!! A hiking friend and I are from the East Coast even though I moved to a small friendly town in SD for work. We were walking around town and popped in to look around. The glass work is exceptional to include watching an ongoing glass class. I inquired about the classes! We were in the very next Hot Spot Studio class making paperweights! Ryan is an excellent instructor!!! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

My husband and I were in Duluth for the weekend, I saw a brochure at the hotel. So we stopped in and signed up for a class that day! Andrew was our instructor he was awesome! He was knowledgeable and personable. He made me comfortable since this was a completely new experience. He had to change the propane in the middle of our time but was quick and made up for time. He also took pictures of us with my phone which I loved. We did the pendants, my husband made 4 and I made 3. We picked them up the next day. All of the staff were friendly. We are already planning our trip back!

"YARN," I shouted and immediately spun to my right and into the driveway of what looked to be someone's house. Now, you probably think I'm some sort of hardcore knitting addict but that isn't the case. I just got back into knitting and am in the middle of knitting a pair of hand warmers for my brother's girlfriend. I bought yarn that was slightly thinner than the yarn I used to make my first pair of hand warmers, so it looked really "loose" on the needles. I wanted a slightly smaller set of needles but ran out of time before our trip. I sort of/definitely planned to stop at whatever yarn place there was to scratch that itch of feeling unprepared. So that's how we ended up at Playing with Yarn. I immediately found a set of size 2 bamboo needles for the insanely low price of $4.70. Granted these were not Clover's Takuma needles but they were bamboo and under five dollars. I took a look at the yarn - there is a pretty wide selection- before paying. I knit mostly in my school years, so any skein of yarn over $9 is pricey to me even if it's super nice merino wool, hand dyed, blah blah blah. It's a very small shop to be sure, but the owners are nice and the selection is good and decently priced. Also, if you go up to the second floor, there is a great view of Lake Superior!

Even though I have seen the same photos hundreds of times on my own walls, I never tire of them and often find myself reminiscing of wonderful memories of time spent on the North Shore and Duluth when gazing at them. Ryan expertly captures the stunning beauty of Duluth, the North Shore and the surrounding area, as well as other areas he travels to like Big Sur, California and more. He has an amazing eye and is always pushing himself to create unique artwork that is timeless and classy. Not only is Ryan Tischer's work gorgeous, but he and his wife, Amy, are great people as well, very down to earth and deserving of our patronage. They are both professional, courteous and timely, whether selling one small print to a new customer, or selling multiple pieces to a collector. Ryan's work is also recognizable, whenever I go to a local business that has purchased from him, my eye immediately recognizes his photography. I highly recommend his work to anyone looking to purchase quality, professional, collectible artwork. You will not be disappointed!
