Pros: close to home (little over an hour away) Lots of nice campsites with full hook-up Two outdoor pools, plus a hot tub and mini lazy river Two beach areas Large fishing/kayaking/paddle boarding and paddle boat pond Golf cart rentals (which is a pro and con, as they could use more because so many people want to rent them) Mini golf Grill (pro and con, as it's there and food is good. However, they sure take their time when taking your order and making it) Cons: sometimes just way too many people; especially when driving and kids are darting every which way right in front of you Renting a golf cart is cut throat during peak season, as you basically have to be right there as someone turns one in. No holds on them, and they can't tell you when the next available one comes available Staff is hit or miss on friendliness. My spouse had a rude encounter at the gate when he arrived for camping. Sometimes the staff in the party store is rude too. Gets super dusty with all the traffic around the campground

Been a member for many years. We now book and stay in cabins. Need to have more maintenance done on the off season. Internet very poor at best. TVs in cabins have super poor service. Need to get updated and use cable. Only get 4 channels, that cut in and out. Park clean and always nice looking. Manager very hard to reach. Friendly staff. Should use lodge on northshore in winter for a adult get away ( Has fireplace, NOT USED)

very unorganized! we had a 7 day stay and was harassed on our 3rd day to leave because their booking agent didn't do the booking correctly. we checked in with no problem for the dates of june 10th-june 17th. we also had our reservation number but we were told that the site was booked for someone else even though we are booked to check out on the 17th. the customer service representative i talked to was unprofessional and the davison location representatives were clueless to everything. not to mention all of the amenities are outdated and out of order!!! the membership is too expensive for this type of treatment so never get one here !!!! update: june 15, 22 well today my husband received a call while he was at work being questioned by a employee from the davison location stating that they were told we have no activity going on at our site. i'm so confused on why does that matter as long as we are not breaking any rules!!! i wonder did it ever occur to them that everyone can enjoy their time away from home any way they please to do so whether that's being outside their rv or being inside their rv! it was a heat advisory today and meanwhile we are being harassed about not having activity at out site . i'm beyond livid with this campground! again there is no way i would want a membership! between all of this harassment and confederate flags at the campground we wouldn't go back or recommend anyone either. i wish i could give no stars! update to the ownerfirst you didn't allow us to stay our full time we were actually asked if we could check out wednesday no later than thursday to accommodate the members who held a membership. so since we didn't have a membership we didn't matter! also you need a new policy because we were at our site we just mind our own business! i didn't read a response to all of the confederate flags there at your racist campground so don't try to address what you feel like you want to address be professional and address it all. i'll wait never get a membership here and again all of the amenities are old and if you don't believe me read other reviews. i don't know about there other locations but davison sucks, is unprofessional and is utterly confused!!!!

Ask the Community - Lake Shore Resort

Has anyone really won anything besides gift cards for this resort when they were "chosen" as a "finalist" for a truck or $20k?…

I looked up the reviews before even going to the resort as we were also chosen as "big winners". I told my husband it was a scam for an overpriced timeshare at a campground yet he still wanted to go for the prizes. What a joke, as I already knew… Read more

By the general park area, as I understand it to be, there is a botanical garden and tree library which is still being constructed, but it is gorgeous right now and will only continue to become more awesome. There is a big sliding hill that I don't fully understand, but looks exciting. There's a playground and a pavilion area by which you can BBQ. I believe the main park area closes at 9 or 9:30 pm. Deeper in, there is a fishing lake that has a gorgeous area surrounding it. I came here and just spent some time along the grassy shore, which has swings and a playground (I think) around it. Very serene and quiet; a lovely peaceful place to relax and have a picnic. This lake requires a state park pass, which I have, but there was no one at the booth checking as I rode in...? I did not even see the camping area, as mentioned by Jennifer, but this whole place is awesome. I met the man in charge of planning the main park area, including the botanical garden and such, and he is committed to making it a wonderful place for people to enjoy. Good, noble work that brings a figurative tear to my eye. Come here. It's gorgeous.

Our first family camping trip happened here at Ortonville Recreation Area at their Equestrian…read moreRustic Camp. We went from a Mon-Wed and we were the only people on the campground. There are 25 rustic sites. Some are full sun, some are shaded with trees. We had our pick and stuck to the back area that was shaded with many trees. There are two outhouses (vault toilets) that are kept very clean. There is one water pump (potable and cold!) for the whole campground. Each site has a metal fire ring and a picnic table. There is also a grill that can be used that is next to a shelter full of picnic tables. You need a Michigan Recreation Passport on your vehicle to stay but you can pay for it when you get there if you don't have it already. It's only 10 dollars. Camping is 17 dollars per night. There is no one to collect the money so you fill out an envelope at the Self Pay Station at the entrance of the campground. Basically it's the honor system. The DNR does come by in the morning to collect and they patrol at night briefly just to check on the area. It is an equestrian camp so if you have a horse, you can bring it with you and there are posts to hitch the horse to. There is also a 6 mile trail that you can hike or ride your horse down. Warning: Many piles of horse poop. Easily avoided though and not too stinky. Looks like they keep the grounds pretty clean and tend to shovel the poop to the side of the trails. You can easily drive to Big Fish Lake which is a park that has swimming, picnicking, barbecues and a small swing set. There is also another park close by that is great for kids just down the street on Hadley Rd. from Big Fish Lake. This is a PERFECT campground for those looking for rustic camping who don't want to be bothered with people in RVs or don't need all the hoopla that some campgrounds offer.

The owners are extremely friendly and cruise the campground multiple times a day to socialize with the campers, as well as to make sure everyone was enjoying their time. The amenities are plentiful and the kids always have a blast. The kids activities have never been canceled, and were well staffed so there were no issues. I will agree that the bathrooms are dated, but are always clean so it's a non issue. The store is very clean and has an excellent selection of products. The product prices are more than reasonable given the venue. I feel a dollar over what you'd pay at a big retailer is more than fair, everyone needs to make a living. The dump station can have a bit of wait, as any campground does after a busy weekend. If you wait until last minute before check out, you are obviously going to wait as there are over 50 people trying to leave at the same time. I've had the same issue at camp resorts where there is a central dump station able to accommodate 4 campers at a time. Plan ahead and it will not be an issue. To sum everything up, i would definitely recommend this campground to anyone, especially those with families. The kids always love it.

Then as you go over the hill you notice this park is about empty. It makes you wonder when all the other parks in the area have waiting list to get in and this beautiful park is empty. Beach is nice though very small. Lake is beautiful, so why is this park empty. Seasonal fees to camp in this park have become very expensive and they offer nothing for the cost. There is no full hook up and only dump a week , which they also charge for. Campers camping on non- seasonal sites find that there is only one dump station in this park and after a busy weekend you wait in line for a long time. They have a monthly fee which they call park maintenance, which is very expensive. I'm not really sure what all it is for , because they don't tell you. Nothing is free in this park. You can rent boats from them or pay $20 to bring in your own boat, they claim they have to inspect it, they look it over, takes about two mins., i have never been charged before at any other park. Guest over 18 are $5 a day pass and dogs are $2 a day. usually when you're having guests thats when owners or one of there workers decide to come to be rude, I found not worth inviting our friends out. Gate card does not come with site rental either, that is another charge they get you with after your in the park. You learn fast that nothing in this park is done as a courtesy, you will be billed for it. They always somehow manage to get extra charges on their billings, and you constantly have to watch this and then get them to change it. If your a non- seasonal that wants to reserve a lot, be prepared to pay the whole thing up front with no cancelation refund. The bathroom are old and nasty but they do keep them clean enough. They say this is a family friendly campground and they allow no foul language and fighting. I don't think owners swearing and yelling in front of campers and children is family friendly. you couldn't make the things I have seen the owners of this campground do.
